Republican National Convention
:sleep Of course one of the greatest debate lines of the previous century was made by a gentleman that was born in the great state of Texas, just miles from where I am sitting. Lloyd Bentsen totally schooled Dan Quayle when Quayle tried to compare himself to John F. Kenedy. "Senator, I served with Jack Kennedy. I knew Jack Kennedy. Jack Kennedy was a friend of mine. Senator, you're no Jack Kennedy." Priceless.

Philly Considering City-wide Wireless ISP
I consider this to be a new basic infrastructure like electricity, water, sewer, and natural gas was in the previous century. Do you use your local library? Public School? Parks? This would have a user base bigger than most city parks and make internet access available to a wider number of users. My guess is businesses will be stuck paying and free to citizens.

Foreign Exchange Students
Next February my Boy Scouts will be getting a taste of being a foreign exchange student. They will be travelling to Monterrey, Mexico and be hosted by different families for the weekend while attending a huge Scouting event. I am nervous about it but excited all at once.

Philly Considering City-wide Wireless ISP
They are talking about free to the users, but of course tax payers are still paying for it. Thankfully I haven't used my fire department, but do not mind paying for that in my taxes. People are already picking neighborhoods based in part by access. There is a nice gated community being built in a strange part of town for that activity. I asked a friend in the real estate business and he told me the #1 reason is that neighborhood is the only one here that was close enough for DSL and also had microwave communications hooked up to a company in Reynosa for low cost telephone.

Kap, notice I said campaignS. Agreed both sides have influence. You think the swiftboat guys cannot pick up the phone and get ahold of Rove and vice versa? The same on the Dem side. Politicians love money and these guys have the dough. The difference is no liberal talk show hosts are available on any stations here, only conservative. Damn media bias.

What I find amazing is people here wish we would get hit so we could fill our reservoirs. We are just slowly coming out of a major drought cycle and could use the rain, but this seems crazy. One hit out on the King Ranch a few years ago, that was close enough for me.

Philly Considering City-wide Wireless ISP
I imagine over time they would have greater resources in some areas (downtown business area) and less in others, low income welfare housing. Imagine selecting your neighborhood based on the throughput. Cities offer water, why not internet access?? It makes sense as an economic stimulas and even $20,000,000 sounds inexpensive. I could see the city charging $50 per year and having it pay for itself.

Not with the coach looking on. Honestly we were stunned then laughing. Art had no idea this was against any sort of rules. Good thing he pulled it out on the bus going to the course. Man it sucked that year. We were playing the course on Rand Road in Barrington, Thunderbird I believe and the round was delayed while snow/sleet melted. My hands were frozen by the turn. I thought golf in the fall was the stupidist idea ever.

I cannot resolve in my mind the inbalance that money brings in freedom of speech. One on hand I fully agree that the swiftboat vets and moveon should be allowed to state their opinions within the current slander and libel laws. On the other hand, it bothers me that tens of millions of Americans are drowned out without the same opportunity. I also understand that it is impossible to seperate the $$$$$ from the politician. Rush is an idiot when he stated on his show that Bush doesn't have and cannot have, any influence on the swift boat vets. When I heard with my own ears on AM710 Rush make that statement I almost gagged. Of course the campaigns are advising when, where, what, who in the 527s. If not directly, then indirectly.

My Junior year we had a fellow, Art Devalle from Brasil, we were teamates on the golf team. LMAO thinking about this. We were on our way to the Sectional tournament in October and it was freakin' cold out. Art casually mentions he has some brandy to keep himself warm. {brakes slamming, shock and awe, followed by laughing} Art pulls out his little bottle of brandy and asks if anyone else wants a sip!! Great memories.

Does anyone think it's odd that...
When Arnie initially talked about running I remember some articles calling him a Rino, Republican in name only. Like all political parties its amazing how quickly they back a winner who will join.

And how far, long, and how often should the GOP go to discredit his military honors? Did you miss my post on the bottom of page 1?

Or honesty. You can judge him on his record. Would it have been better for him to say the stuff he did back then didn't matter? How should Kerry have handled his military record?

They are ripping the military down by claiming a corrupt system that the military uses to award it's recognitions. Men like Kerry and National Guardsmen and men like MacNamara and student protestors and street executions and napalm and agent orange and Nixon and a war that was ultimately meaningless hurt. Putting our military men and women in harms way must be the last and final resort and for a worthwile purpose. You seemingly believe that we should just clam up and let man and women be used for whatever purpose a few leaders believe. Polls sagging, reelection in doubt? Let's invade some small country! Support our Troops everybody and cheer them to their deaths No Nuke I do not believe that. I believe we have the obligation as US citizens to be vigilent that our elected leaders are doing the right thing, that they are doing what we want them to do. The military isn't some prop, some disposable resource, renewable by offering another $500 signing bonus. I will not sit by and let any President send our young men and women into harms way wthout a damn good reason. So I will protest some wars, not out of disrespect, but our of respect for human life, especially those of US servicemen and women. Finally when they are injured, when they do something heroic I want them recognized and school children and adults alike to respect them. I do not want some idiots who weren't even at the event in question, ripping them down. Doesn't it seem interesting the guys in his boat say the medals were earned? Finally in regard to Viet Nam vets coming home and comparing it to other wars. First off this was the first war with tours and planned cycles out of country. Second there was no victory, no surrender from the enemy. When would you suggest we have the "victory" parades?
