Oddly on a 2-0 count a swing and a miss at a ball well outside the zone for 2-1 count sets the team up better than taking for a 3-0 count?

Where can we find MLB averages?

Each sport has costs. Stadiums, coaching, scholarships, uniforms, travel, etc. One of those costs should also be stipends for players. Currently college athletes have almost no chance to earn money for simple things like going on a date. A few hundred dollars a month seems like something that would be doable for most D1 programs.

From the Athletic The gist: The NCAA will try to label the new collectives as boosters, thus subjecting them to specific rules which the NCAA will use to punish these above-the-table pay-for-play schemes. The problem? The law isn’t on the NCAA’s side. I can't believe the NCAA is trying to rule this. Their chance was years ago, they didn't act so the courts did. I'd still like to see stipends for all NCAA Div 1 athletes. Without teammates those stars aren't cashing those checks. The money should be coming from the universities who are making the money from the players. Perhaps the players could put together a CBA and strike until they get their proper share.

That's my go to comment about Frank. Every time he stepped to the plate an entire bar would quiet down and watch. Northside, southside, suburbs, it didn't matter. Robert may get there. As I remember it Frank was moved to DH for much the same reasons Fisk was moved to left, longevity. Frank was athletic enough to cover. The DH move allowed him to bulk up a bit which probably enhanced his power numbers.

And we're exceptional at forgetting when others are wrong. That's never brought up years and years later ?

When we first cut the cable we were doing everything through a Roku stick and dumb TV. That was easy Now we kind of rotate through streaming services based on what we are binging at the moment.

I'll be up there for about a week this summer before heading to the UP. Suggestions?

?Young people always struggle with the learning curve that comes with being an early adopter of new or emerging technology and they don't like being forced to try new things. I cut the cable years ago and stream everything. Streaming sucks for some applications, especially live events. Some companies are better than others and some are more innovative. Apple sucks. When they have a lead in something they exploit the hell out of it (messaging right now) to get you to buy their hardware. Other companies like MLB think they have to try every new thing or they will be left behind. Ask your grandparents about the disastrous OnTV deal that cost the Sox dearly and turned this into a Cub town for decades because the Cubs were broadcasting to every nursing home in America each afternoon. But it gets better. Where I'm hoping this is going is to allow me to buy an all platform, all access, no restriction, package. MLB.tv, You Tube, Apple TV, cable, ota, whatever. The performance will continue to improve with better hardware and Internet capabilities. But no doubt with current technology, streaming isn't as nice as cable or ota signals for live events.

What irony? I'm in favor of guys getting paid for their work. The more money MLB brings in the better for everyone involved. I also love amateur sports. I scan the Masters and each Open to see which amateurs are playing well. I follow the US Am and especially the Mid Am and Senior Am. When those are open up to professionals I'll pay as much attention as I do to most minor stops on the PGA tour. Those amateur stories are inspiring to me. I love high school sports and head out to support all the athletes. College football (like the Olympics) is leaving me behind as it turns professional but I'm happy for those guys. I don't begrudge them their money at all. But I'm only going to watch one professional football league and it's the NFL. College football won't miss me. Plus I'm already busy in the fall. Personal choice. I don't think it's a big deal.

They should have just stayed with OTA broadcasts. Lol People want it their way. Engaging fans across multiple platforms seems like a good idea to me. Eventually the players get the money and we all want player salaries to increase.

Those guys were beasts and clearly standing out. The rest of the rotations behind them were filled with guys you'd expect to pitch seven, eight, nine innings by throwing slower. Now those rotation spots are filled with guys throwing as hard as Gibson, Ryan, etc but they can't handle the strain.

I didn't either. Last season was on Kimbrel not the FO for bringing him in.

I don't feel sorry for any of them.

If it helps the players to earn more money I don't care how many different services they use.

What would be an interesting proposal is allowing each school to have a few players who do not have to attend classes. Obviously there are a few players who are going pro and football is what they are studying. Leave the number of scholarships the same, but just pay a few players like employees. Maybe six to 12? We know there has been academic cheating forever. There would probably have to be an age limit or number of years someone was eligible.
