Koch: 9.00 ERA
That's only 1 run per inning. So if we have a 2 run lead, he should be fine

Fired!!!!!!!!!
Habits start young. Think of that job as AA ball. He got cut in two days. He failed at a part-time job, how is that a good thing for a full time job? The job market for good jobs is intense, more intense then ever before. Yes, it's a part time job but imagine two guys interviewing for a full time job. One has sterling references from his part time job, the other has three jobs listed and zero references, who would you hire? Businesses today are looking for people who can work in a team environment. Flags go up when someone is perceived as not being able to work with a variety of people. It is expensive to hire and train an individual for your company. Most companies will figure almost 6 months before someone is fully trained and functional. Add their salary during that time, the costs of advertsing, interviewing, running background checks, drug tests, other employees helping them out, etc. and companies do not want to hire someone who will be gone in a week. Keep thinking it's only a part-time job. Your competitors for higher paying jobs will appreciate it. Sorry to lecture, but I like BeGood, always have and I want to hear him being a success. One failure won't hurt, but do not make it a habit.

Tony La Russa visiting the southside...
His year was over so fast I cannot remember anything besides LaRussa and Fisk. Did he do anything good? I do remember at least a couple Six fans glad to see Tony leave. They thought he didn't argue enough calls and "stand up for his guys". I guess getting ejected is a good thing.

Fired!!!!!!!!!
Here's an idea. Start your own business. There are going to people at every company that you might not get along with. It would be a shame if you had five years into this company and tossed them all away when a new manager comes along. Being adaptable is one way to survive in corporate America. Today he has a job, you do not. Who wins? Do that four or five times in the next year or two and it will get harder and harder to get a good job with a good company.

Dems using Reagan to advance policy
The reason abortion comes into it is the fear that if we allow this research how can their be laws to stop abortion? If we call these "non human" in some way it takes away from the Pro-Life position that life begins at conception. Republican platforms are against all attempts to widen abortion and generally for anything to restrict it. Thus we have noth parties IMHO, looking like dumb asses. Reps not wanting stem cell research using human cells that will not be implanted and Dems trying to defend partial birth abortions on demand. All laws that attempt to classify human cells are studied closely by the extremist in the abortion debate.

Government Closed Friday
Nuke, Why not have the governmemt go into debt every year? Eventually we have to pay the debt, with interest, from our taxes. To say that public spending is somehow worse than private just does not make sense. Whether the government spends it or a private individual, it works in the economy. If my company receives a check from the US Government or Joe Blow Wholesale, it all works the same. The Governement takes in a dollar and spends it, a private individual may stash it under his mattress. As was mentioned earlier, Reagan kept spending, agreeing to Democrates demands for their programs if Reagan was to get his military spending. Then the economy boomed. Notice that government spending was not cut? If you take your government paycheck and cash it and buy a shirt it has the same impact if I cash my private company pay check and buy a shirt. Explain why the government should run up huge debts to fund a hoped for future growth. Why not run debts every year? And finally debt destroyed the USSR. Do you really want to risk the US? I was a Rep when they demanded a balanced budget. Using a Visa to pay your monthly bills doesn't cut it for a family nor a nation.

Reagan the new face of the $10 bill?
Actually if I recall correctly, that is the only sexcapade he hasn't been accused of.

Latest Gallup Poll info from CNN
It's going to be a bumpy ride into November. Dispite those polling numbers, I still believe, if the election was held last week, this week, or next week, Bush would win.

Flag Facts
I agree it is the people behind the flag that is important, so let's get behind the flag. We are a nation of symbols, and this is one that should stand for unity. I think it represents all we agree on. Let other symbols be used to reflect our differences.

Cub fans in shock!!
LMAO but let's be fair I'm going to Sox hell for this but . . . Those depicted are about as common at both parks. We claim their fans are clueless yuppies and they claim our fans are drunks who run out on the field and assault coaches and players. Both are unfair. I know a few Cub fans who are as knowledgable about baseball as anyone. The more they know the better I get along with them. As a kid I got goosebumps walking up the ramp into the sunshine at Wrigley. Seeing the players warming up and the Ivy was a cool sight. I thought the troughs were sick. As a kid I got goosebumps walking to my seat at Cominsky. I loved night games, and the atmosphere. The scoreboard was awesome. I remember an uncle saying Wrigley, daytime, manual scoreboard, etc. was for baseball purists and exploding scoreboards, night games, and other gimicks was for partiers. God how I dislike clueless Cub fans.

Tony La Russa visiting the southside...
JR getting old and burying the hatchet. No need for Ozzie to look over his shoulder. LaRussa has proven to be one of the top managers for the past two decades. Maybe never the best, but better than most. I thought Hawk's worse move was LaRussa. I could at least see some reasoning regarding Fisk to the outfield but never LaRussa.

Koch is relieved of the Closer duty!
Do you mean he was clueless that his role as closer was in jeopardy or that he had no idea he was sucking? In that regard, I disagree. I think his quote that he "needed to get right back out there" was wishfull thinking on his part. Koch knew, regardless of Ozzie's assurances, that his roll of closer was hanging by a string. Foulke could blow two saves in one week and the Red Sox fans would be pissed, perhaps wondering what's wrong, but not calling for his head. Koch knew he did not have that luxery. His eyes were wide open, his situation was clear.

Koch is relieved of the Closer duty!
I think he's wide awake. He just doesn't have the intimidation or confidence. Other teams know he's vulnerable and they get juiced up to face him. He's done as a stud closer. He's still a middle of the pack guy, serviceable at a lower salary for a Cleveland or Montreal, but almost worthless for a contender.

Reagan the new face of the $10 bill?
I was thinking a new $200 would be better.

Reagan the new face of the $10 bill?
I'm scanning the globe to bring you the best in topics and links Without Southsider2k4's usual array of topic starts, SLAP will get slow and stale. I wonder where he's been?

Latroy Hawkins bashes media
Agreed. I was using it for comparison. Let's use fireman and police officers who we expect to risk their lives for us. When he cashes his check, he should be looking for a reporter to talk to.

Latroy Hawkins bashes media
Yes we take our sports to the extreme. Look how many thousands of posts about the White Sox are here. If I care about what YASNY, or you, or ChiSoxFn thinks about Koch, don;t you think we care what E-Lo thinks? If we care what we think about Rauch walking out, don't you think we care what Thomas thinks?
