  1. If you are an outfielder, why come to the Sox? We seem to have a bumper crop of good, young, outfielders.
  2. Yep, with those two loser franchises in New York, no successful teams to cheer . . .

    howdy kids

It takes a special person to be so nonchalant about mortar rounds.
  4. OK, now I just saw an image that makes me respect the government's positions. Damn, show the pictures, dignify the soldiers, but do not photoshop them into something else. Do not use them to prove a political point. Now you are disrespecting our service men and women and this pisses me off.
  5. God Bless Him. I have more respect for that man than I have the words to express. Rest in Peace.
  6. Interesting views. Is it possible to agree with someone's action but not the underlying reasons? For example if someone propossed that Marte should be the closer many would agree. But if the reason given was that Koch has 4 letters in his name and that in 2004, based on Haley's comet, a Presidential election, and road contruction in the Damn Ryan, no closer should have 4 letters in their last name. Wouldn't it be ok to agree with the end result but not the justification? So therefore, does it matter that he supports his argument with a source that he himself only agrees with 10% or 50% or 99% of the time? Now can it go the other way? We all agree that X, Y, and Z are facts supported by this or that reference. Yet one person arrives at A conclusion, someone else at B. We are still dealing with the conclusions, not the underlying facts.
  7. I was addressing specifically his religious beliefs and this debate. I care deeply about Israel's position for very personal reasons, mostly the health and safety of friends of mine and their children. I am not Jewish. That shouldn't make my arguments any less valid. I do not think 4Es religious practices validate or invalidate his arguments. Out another way, if he did keep Kosher and attended Temple each week, would you place any more validity on his views? Would we not debate just as vigerously?
  8. And I pray it is never you
  9. I was refering to you being a northern Texan, way up north there in Dallas.
  10. SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. -- A sixth-grader was suspended after school officials accused him of threatening to expose a highly allergic teacher to peanut butter cookies, the boy's father said Thursday. Link The father said Jules was carrying a snack packet of Nutter Butter cookies and did make a comment about having "something dangerous" but never said he had a weapon. "They mishandled this," Gabriel said.
  11. Actually the site I saw them at was a conservative war supporter. This seems to cross both spectrums of pro-war and anti-war groups. Looking at the US Cole when we were innocent victims, seeing the coffins arriving would support the going to war postion. "See what they did?" then when we begin fighting, and the dead are a result of our decision, the hawks do not want them shown. I agree intruding on the funeral is a family decision, but the men arriving back at a military base seems different. It wasn't that long ago that the military actually encouraged coverage and drilled teams for proper respect and dignity.
  12. I think these are more the "in route" stops. Yesterday I was having breakfast with a friend and the funeral procession for Sgt. Christopher Ramirez who was killed a couple weeks ago drove slowly past. If I hadn't been there, and later read the news accounts, I doubt I would ever have paused and said a prayer for him and his family. When we send our servicement and women to fight, we need to be prepared for the consiquences. We should never, ever, send our military into combat without understanding the sacrifice was are asking them to make. Only when we can look a soldier in the eye and say, we need you to risk your life, and possibly die for this cause, should we ever send a single member. We must accept the fact that when our elected leaders send men into combat it is on all of our hands. We are asking them to go. We are telling them they need to make that sacrifice. We elected the officials making the decision. It is our decision. To then shield ourselves from the ugly facts of our decisions, is gutless.
  13. I'm pretty much a bandwagon jumper. I just enjoy all the pennants and world championships
  14. How about the head of the line? Head of the class? go ahead? Heading up to Boston for the game?
  15. I somehow feel we are sweeping their sacrifice under the rug by not showing them. I think they should be recognized for their sacrifice and not forgotten. Link
  16. Everybody on my baseball team was a Cubs fan. It all seemed too easy. Our coach was such a Cubs fan our uniforms were blue pin stripes and our eam bus was painted with white pin stripes. Then I was able to go to games on my own. Night games were so much cooler, and cooler. The South Side Hit men, singing with Nancy, waving to Veeck, I was hooked.
  17. Good points. But what about those board members that would prefer to not get in a big argument? If they are offended, and post that, you can see what the reaction is. I think the site owners and admins should be aware of what is offending and let them decide how to deal with it. I'm only a mod, if someone complains, I try and handle it to the best of my ability without deleting, locking, editing, etc. Now shut the f*** up before I delete every damn post your yankee ass will ever make.
  18. I believe this is called pulling a Shaq. You couldn't have committed to this during the off season and then rehabbed?
  19. I have to leave for a while. Please don't be like Tuesday, I miss the opening, pop open a mountain dew and we're down 8. Go Sox!
  20. I do not believe 4Es religious practices or lack there of really matters in his opinion of the course of history that Israel should follow. My agreements and disagreements with him in these areas would not be affected if he was at Temple every week and kept Kosher. I still think a war to the last person is not good for either group. While you obviously cannot dismiss the religious implications in this war, in many ways it is the simple "you have something I want" war. The US wanted Mexico lands and basically we kicked some ass to get it.
  21. Any other comments about this specific post by me will be via private PM. I would hope that people would continue to use the report function to avoid public flame wars. I prefer to let the poster know that someone or more are offended and give the individual a chance to articulate their views without offending. Since all Sox fans are above average in intelligence and beautiful to boot, I think we can express ourtselves, with passion and emotion, without offending. Unless it involves a death threat, something illegal, etc. I never want to delete or edit someone's posts.
