  5. Damn no mail delivery. WASHINGTON (AP) - The federal government will be closed Friday in honor of former President Ronald Reagan, the White House announced Sunday. Exempt from the closing are operations department and agency heads determine ``should remain open for reasons of national security or defense or other essential public business,'' according to a proclamation issued by President Bush. Reagan's funeral service will take place Friday at the National Cathedral. His body will be returned to California later that day for burial at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.

It may be closed if it's a federal holiday.
  7. Gasoline would be a major target. I don't think our free speech adds much to the terrorists, and in fact, on balance, may make us safer. A terrorist would have plenty of time to research and plan an attack. He doesn't need newspapers or reporters to tell him targets. Also by discussing these things we can be prepared and possibly stop them.

What is Colon doing? He's pitching and winning some games. What is Wright, Rauch, Cotts, Diaz, etc. etc. etc. doing? Remember it wasn't this year's salary that was the problem, it was 2009s. The Sox did not want to go 5 years. I got a little off track here. This team needs a 5th Starter and a Closer. If JR says, sorry we cannot afford one, you may find the financial situation honey for that bitter medicine, I do not. I agree that it is a reality the team has to deal with but again, I do not care if the shareholders lose money this year and the Sox win a WS. I am hoping that JR will spend the Colon money at the midseason point.

But where does all this come from? A song writer of course and . . . Written by: Bruce Johnston I've been alive forever, and I wrote the very first song I put the words and the melodies together I am music and I write the songs I write the songs that make the whole world sing I write the songs of love and special things I write the songs that make the young girls cry I write the songs, I write the songs My home lies deep within you And I've got my own place in your soul Now, when I look out through your eyes I'm young again, even though I'm very old Oh my music makes you dance And gives you spirit to take a chance And I wrote some rock 'n' roll so you can move Music fills your heart Well, that's a real fine place to start It's from me it's for you It's from you, it's for me It's a worldwide symphony

Brando, do you mean We've only Just Begun? The #1 graduation song from 1970 to 1980? And how about one for Nuke "Billy" Cleveland? The marchin' band came down along Main Street The soldier-blues fell in behind I looked across and there I saw Billy Waiting to go and join the line And with her head upon his shoulder His young and lovely fiancee From where I stood, I saw she was cryin' And through her tears I heard her say "Billy, don't be a hero, don't be a fool with your life" "Billy, don't be a hero, come back and make me your wife" And as he started to go she said "Billy, keep your head lo-o-ow" "Billy, don't be a hero, come back to me" The soldier-blues were trapped on a hillside The battle raging all around The sergeant cried "We've got to hang on, boys" "We got to hold this piece a'ground" "I need a volunteer to ride up" "And bring us back some extra men" And Billy's hand was up in a moment Forgettin' all the words she said She said "Billy, don't be a hero, don't be a fool with your life" "Billy, don't be a hero, come back and make me your wife" And as he started to go she said "Billy, keep your head lo-o-ow" "Billy, don't be a hero, come back to me" I heard his fiancee got a letter That told how Billy died that day The letter said that he was a hero She should be proud he died that way I heard she threw that letter away

When the decision was made to not add one more season to Colon's offer he was IMHO the best starter we had down the stretch. He flat out pitched his butt off the last month of the season. We didn't sign him and instead went into the season with two unproven starters. Just spending will not win a championship, but fans accepting not spending and losing will not win a championship either. Do you think the Yankees would have resigned Colon? Would NY be talking about not being able to resign Maggs? If we have ownership that cannot compete in MLB, then maybe JR and the stock holders need to sell. This isn't Milwaukee, St Louis, etc. Chicago is a major city and certainly can support a bigger budget team.
  14. I rushed to my computer and laid down a profanity laced post and they got even more pissed when my vent post wouldn't post because everybody else was venting. On the bright side, this might get us more Sunday Night Baseball gigs. the NASCAR crash fans will all stay and watch Billy Botch.

We both have the same point, it's not OUR money. However, it is the team we follow, commonly refered to as OUR team. I want OUR team to win a World Series before this century ends. When we talk about what would make a great season, making money isn't high on the list. Do you think Yankee fans ever say, Gee, do you think our payroll is too high? It would be like Steff asking "does this dress make my butt look big"

I started a thread. Worst songs. And in your honor, started with a mammal love song
  23. OK, I'll say it, as you asked, you are wrong. This is a great country and offers benefits to everyone. For some as simple as food and shelter, for others it is a university degree and the opportunity to lead almost any life they want. To think you did it without getting anything from the government is a farce. I quoted you, I put your words in your mouth, sorry if they taste bad. I also believe welfare needs to be reformed. We need funding to stop the hurdles that keep more people from climbing out of poverty. We need a better and clearer set of benefits for child care, we need a better and clearer set of standards for education assistance. We need better and clearer benefits on education that train people for jobs that are here in the US not being out sourced to China.

Muskrat Love by Captain & Tennille Words and Music: Willis Alan Ramsay Muskrat, Muskrat, candle light Doing the town and doing it right in the evening It's pretty pleasing Muskrat Suzie, Muskrat Sam do the jitterbug out in Muskrat Land And they shimmy... Sam is so skinny And they whirl and they twirl and they tango Singing and jinging a jango Floating like the heavens above Looks like Muskrat Love. Nibbling on bacon, chewing on cheese Sam says to Suzie, Honey, would you please be my Mrs? Suzie says yes with her kisses Now he's tickling her fancy, rubbing her toes muzzle to muzzle now, anything goes as they wriggle, Sue starts to giggle
  25. Isn't welfare food and shelter? I feel like I'm debating Kerry, are you for welfare or against?
