Brando, do you mean We've only Just Begun? The #1 graduation song from 1970 to 1980? And how about one for Nuke "Billy" Cleveland? The marchin' band came down along Main Street The soldier-blues fell in behind I looked across and there I saw Billy Waiting to go and join the line And with her head upon his shoulder His young and lovely fiancee From where I stood, I saw she was cryin' And through her tears I heard her say "Billy, don't be a hero, don't be a fool with your life" "Billy, don't be a hero, come back and make me your wife" And as he started to go she said "Billy, keep your head lo-o-ow" "Billy, don't be a hero, come back to me" The soldier-blues were trapped on a hillside The battle raging all around The sergeant cried "We've got to hang on, boys" "We got to hold this piece a'ground" "I need a volunteer to ride up" "And bring us back some extra men" And Billy's hand was up in a moment Forgettin' all the words she said She said "Billy, don't be a hero, don't be a fool with your life" "Billy, don't be a hero, come back and make me your wife" And as he started to go she said "Billy, keep your head lo-o-ow" "Billy, don't be a hero, come back to me" I heard his fiancee got a letter That told how Billy died that day The letter said that he was a hero She should be proud he died that way I heard she threw that letter away

When the decision was made to not add one more season to Colon's offer he was IMHO the best starter we had down the stretch. He flat out pitched his butt off the last month of the season. We didn't sign him and instead went into the season with two unproven starters. Just spending will not win a championship, but fans accepting not spending and losing will not win a championship either. Do you think the Yankees would have resigned Colon? Would NY be talking about not being able to resign Maggs? If we have ownership that cannot compete in MLB, then maybe JR and the stock holders need to sell. This isn't Milwaukee, St Louis, etc. Chicago is a major city and certainly can support a bigger budget team.

I rushed to my computer and laid down a profanity laced post and they got even more pissed when my vent post wouldn't post because everybody else was venting. On the bright side, this might get us more Sunday Night Baseball gigs. the NASCAR crash fans will all stay and watch Billy Botch.

I thought walking in the winning run was an especially nice touch. A walk off walk.

I'll be watching with my family. I think it is important that we honor our leaders.

Did everyone work through their school's financial aid office or did it yourself?

BTW, Chaos, Welcome to SL&P It's great to have you around.

We both have the same point, it's not OUR money. However, it is the team we follow, commonly refered to as OUR team. I want OUR team to win a World Series before this century ends. When we talk about what would make a great season, making money isn't high on the list. Do you think Yankee fans ever say, Gee, do you think our payroll is too high? It would be like Steff asking "does this dress make my butt look big"

I started a thread. Worst songs. And in your honor, started with a mammal love song

OK, I'll say it, as you asked, you are wrong. This is a great country and offers benefits to everyone. For some as simple as food and shelter, for others it is a university degree and the opportunity to lead almost any life they want. To think you did it without getting anything from the government is a farce. I quoted you, I put your words in your mouth, sorry if they taste bad. I also believe welfare needs to be reformed. We need funding to stop the hurdles that keep more people from climbing out of poverty. We need a better and clearer set of benefits for child care, we need a better and clearer set of standards for education assistance. We need better and clearer benefits on education that train people for jobs that are here in the US not being out sourced to China.

Muskrat Love by Captain & Tennille Words and Music: Willis Alan Ramsay Muskrat, Muskrat, candle light Doing the town and doing it right in the evening It's pretty pleasing Muskrat Suzie, Muskrat Sam do the jitterbug out in Muskrat Land And they shimmy... Sam is so skinny And they whirl and they twirl and they tango Singing and jinging a jango Floating like the heavens above Looks like Muskrat Love. Nibbling on bacon, chewing on cheese Sam says to Suzie, Honey, would you please be my Mrs? Suzie says yes with her kisses Now he's tickling her fancy, rubbing her toes muzzle to muzzle now, anything goes as they wriggle, Sue starts to giggle

Isn't welfare food and shelter? I feel like I'm debating Kerry, are you for welfare or against?

If I'm going to get death by wedgie I've . . . got to be good. so I can see my baby when I leave this World.

Well back to the way back machine and your post: The government didn't give you anything, you later stated these were "God given rights" OK as long as you don't ask for more. Only one helping and yours were "God given rights" perhaps not from the government. Then we agree, you are not taking anything, and those people on welfare are not taking anything.
-
You never said you were against offering clothing, food, shelter? I guess I need to break out the wayback machine and quote you Isn't welfare food and clothing? Sorry, it sounded like you were against it. Are these God given rights or does someone have to take them. Is it ok to take them if they do not ask for more? Again from your post and presumable typed by you I offered you a homeless person or dog instead. Since you seem to be looking for a violent release or some guy in a skirt and pom poms.
-
Harsh reality would you rather the team finished 4th and make money or won a WS and lost money? Did you hear anyone cheering in Milwaukee last season? They were #1 in Profits Anybody making foam $ for fans to wear? I understand it is a business. I understand that winning teams manage to put together the best roster with the available resources. I just cannot understand fans accepting a losing team so the owner can make more money.

Tips? Tricks? Scams to watch for? It's summer and I know a few lists members are heading off to college.

He doesn't think it is gay to dress in a skirt and pom pom. Republicans like to have fun.

OMG Wildflower :puke I prayed the night Chicago died . . .
-
I hope you will make him work for the dinner and not just give it to him. So, I'll just ask one question so you do not get sidetracked. Why is it when you receive a government benefit it is a "God given right" and others have to "take" it.?

We do: That's the problem.
