His fault for picking the ugly one . . .

I'm deciding between a Soxtalk original or a retro Sox cap.

If I was a KC fan, I'd be crushed. If their off season moves, I felt they were going to easily be in the hunt all season. I believe at some point they will have a run for a month or two and at least climb into 3rd place, maybe threaten for second depending on Minny does. I cannot see them finishing 5th. But until then

I think Kenny is building that team chemistry and by getting their input he is making them part of the solution. Imagine if 24 guys are sitting there thinking if they ever bring this asshole into the clubhouse again, I'm otta here (or similar) or if 24 guys are thinking, man he looked good for a couple innings, let's get behind the guy and make this work. No matter what the scenario, Keny should know what the players, coaches, and Ozzie is are thinking before making a move. We can debate how much their input should matter, but a good GM should know the clubhouse and what is happening before making a decision. Real world example, most companies use team interviewing for many positions. If you are applying for a marketing job you may also interview with the creative team, perhaps some of the salespeople, and the people in accounting. It is all about developing team.

You are correct, plus at this point the #5 starter trots out with the pressure of 1. Win or back to the rack for you 2. We aren't going to score any runs 3. We should be a WS team if we can only find a 5th starter.

LOL SS2k4 or Cw or Jim, or somebody here has bought one from Amazon. Click on order and see what other items people who bought that cap also bought. click here for details And for you fashion challenged this is a cap, a hat has a brim that goes all the way around. Think cowboy HAT vs. baseball CAP.

Gammons complements the Sox, but doesn't know our
Texsox replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
technically, leaving spring training last year, Estaban Loiza was our 5th starter. So we won a ton of games out of that spot. -
With all the trade threads and who we should get, anybody think we could fix this issue with offense? We could have Randy Johnson and he's got a losing record with this run support.

shhhhhh

Link Poor kid took the loss.

Mariotti should be a regular poster here.

A little research on our offense when the 5th starter is pitching. Wright 4/11 4-5 loss 4/16 0-3 loss 4/26 1-4 loss 5/1 6-10 loss (game 2 DH) For Danny we scored 4,0,1,6 runs Felix Diaz 5/13 6-5 W 3 runs scored before he was pulled 5/17 2-7 loss Diaz gets 6, 2 runs Jon Rauch 5/30 1-5 loss Rauch gets 1 run (zero when he is in the game) Cotts 5/22 1-9 loss in his only start 1 frickin run

Buy High, Sell Low That's the reality we face. Everyone in baseball knows we need a 5th starter. Evryone in baseball knows Jon's situation. If we tried to solve both of these issues we would be selling Jon at his lowest and paying top dollar for a decent guy who could get us 7 or 8 wins. Keep Jon, try to find him spots to build some stats, and during next off season make a decision, unless someone calls with a deal.

Head case, can only pitch an inning or two Sounds like a recipe for a closer

I think you are very fair and agree with your evaluation of almost every player. However if instead of writing it here, you ghost wrote a Mariotti colum, everyone would complain. What I meant was, if we took everything you wrote, (and not just you but everyone here) labeled it as coming from Mariotti, there would be a big round of boos. Mariotti prints some of the same complaints we have and we scream Cub bias. I read wrong side of town to mean the Cubs were on almost everyone's list to win their division. Certainly more people felt the Cubs would win then the Sox. We had a disaster for off season. IIRC Mariotti thought our lack of a 5th starter would be a problem, our closer would be a problem, thinks JR should spend money then expect attendance, not reverse, didn't like Ballmall Part 1, and a few other things that would get applauds here.

Jon Rauch Likely Finished in Sox Organization
Texsox replied to Obi-Wan Kenobi's topic in Pale Hose Talk
How much pressure is there on a 5th starter? I'm thinking this is the firing line. Bring up fresh meat. Jon has got to feel his big league career slipping away. From the heights of the Olympics, to this start, he has been on a terrible roller coaster ride. I wonder if he looked at this start as do or die for his career. Imagine, instead of multi-million dollar contracts, a career at Foot Locker, wearing the stripes and hearing people say, "Didn't you use to play for the Bulls? No wait, you're the bum who never made it out of AAA." -
I noticed some of the 9-5 regulars aren't here this morning.

Marrioti doesn't care who is winning and losing. In fact both teams wining would sell more newspapers and give him more to write about. You guys are f***ing unbelievable. String together your posts for the past couple weeks and tell me there isn't anything negative? Name one poster here that y'all wouldn't lamblast if it was printed in the Sun-Times or Trib? Read the threads. Nuke, how many times have you taken shots at Koch? How many Valentin rants have we read? How many why is Crede playing threads? But you think Marrioti is somehow picking on the Sox. Give me a f***ing break.

Has anyone else noticed that the offense takes the day aff when the winner of our 5th Starter of the Day contest takes the mound? We pound out 10 runs and anyone of these guys suddenly doesn't look all that bad, they get a second start, maybe feel somewhat successful, keep their heads in the game. Now you look up and down the bench and all I saw was deer in the headlights looks. The whole team is expecting to lose.
