Rule 5
So he wouldn't necessarily go directly to the Marlins if we drop him, another team could sign him, if they put him on their 25-man? But his only minor league assignment would be with the Marlins. So we cut him, then every other MLB team has a chance, then he goes to the Marlins? And what compensation to we have to offer? And do we have any rule 5ers out there tyhat could be returning?

I remember where I was when...
I don't remember Oklahoma City. I remember where I was when the Bulls won the title in 1992 At the Stadium Miracle on Ice, I was working at Foot Locker in Lakehurst Mall and I posted the final result on our scoreboard above the register.

If the Beatles had stayed together

Search Engines & Cookies
Do any of the search engines track your searches and try to guess the relevance? For example if I search 1. Vintage Dodge 2. Shelby 3. Chrysler then 4. Car Dealers Rio Grande Valley Would they bump up all the Chrysler dealers over Ford or Chevy?

I remember where I was when...
I merged the two threads (I started one) then looked at SS'ers list and was amazed that contained the same items.

I remember where I was when...
I remember being upstairs at my raquetclub when I saw the news report that Reagan had been shot. I was at a girlfriends when I heard Lennon had been killed. At work for the shuttle disaster part 1 home for shuttle disaster part 2 Walking out the door for work when the first reports of 9/11 came on. Huddled around a radio at work for the OJ verdict and watching a co worker claim those f*ckers in California can't confict anyone. I was at my wife's side for both my kids I was outside playing baseball when I heard the Vietnam "Police Action" had ended. During operation Desert Storm I was watching the TV in my downstairs den, rivited to CNN and a telemarketer called. We're at war and you want to sell me new windows!

If the Beatles had stayed together
There are only a handfull of events where I know exactly where I was and what I was doing when they happened. John's murder was one of them. I had been putting off buying Double Fantasy until I was at the mall, I didn't think it warrented a special trip. I went out that day and picked up a copy.

I am more interested in how google rates the pages. Is it by requests, frequency of mentiones, numbers of pages overall, etc. I was wondering if Google somehow tracked my earlier searches and tried to predict what I wanted. For example, if my last three searches had mentioned Canada, would I have received a page of links showing foreign aid to Canada? No wonder we aren't better liked in Arab countries. We probably spend as much there as well, and not get enarly the credit.

If the Beatles had stayed together
With the way Disco died, under it's own self importance and excess, it is hard to take the music seriously. I wonder if there could have been a truly great disco sound. If it is possible, who better than the Beatles to define it?

I dislike Microwaves
But slow cooking cow lips in the oven makes them too tough for my taste? How do you cok them
-
Rule 5
So basically it gives a guy who is stuck in one organization to get unstuck with another. Great thing if you happen to be a shortstop or 3rd baseman in the Yankee farm system

I wonder how much the US is doing in Africa. I tried a couple searches and came up empty. Type in US Foreign Aid into your favorite search engine and tell me which country pops up the most. I am not certain how every search engine rates the topics, but I was surprised.

Palestinians have no state. I would offer them as an example. As has been noted before, the 9/11 terrorists used US flight schools, should we be bombed? We have supported many people and groups who have become terrorists in the world's eyes. It is a small step, that many people around the world have made, to brand the US as the largest supporter of terrorists around. If you factor in "hate money" that is raised from US sources it may be even more true. We are the techology leaders in coming up with ways to kill and maim. I really wish we would stop producing lethal land mines and deploying them around the world. There are US mercenaries, ex US military trained hired soldiers around the world. Do I want to be judged by their actions? Are they US supported? Just because we trained them, doesn't make them ours. There are no clear cut battlefields anymore. When the difficult decision is made to go to war, we are sentencing innocents to die. No way around it.- RIP: They died in Iraq
Oops, I used resources in two different ways. I first meant the discresionary time and money we have to fight a problem. We have X number of dollars for financial aid, X number of people, etc. Where do we send those? With an endless supply of time and money, we would try and remake the world to look like the US.- Josh Paul's Tribute to Joe Nossek
Well use your holier than thou powers- Rule 5
So if, for example, he has an injury and we want to send him down for rehap, we would lose him? It's either Major League of Marlin's system? I like the rule, it helps those guys who are on the make or break point of their careers.- RIP: They died in Iraq
It is all about resources. As soon as we help one area, another needs help. You are correct that Africa has not been thrust onto center stage. Perhaps if cars were fueled by diamonds we would care. Sadly, I was about to write that I didn't think it was a racial factor, but I do agree. If it was a whiter shade of pale, we would care more.- RIP: They died in Iraq
I have a problem with taking action against a country for the crimes of their citizens. If for example Veigh had bombed a building in China instead of Oklahoma, I would be pissed if the Chinese decided they were justified in bombing the US. I think we need to prove it is official government action before attacking a sovereign nation,- If the Beatles had stayed together
s***, in a panic I almost changed the Topic Title to Beetle- Rule 5
How long does Grilli have to be on the 25 man roster before we don't have to release him to the Marlins? If, for example, he makes the 25-man roster, then gets demoted before his first stop, does that count? I assume at some point he is our property and the Marlins lose all rights? Do we have anyone in another training camp that could be returning? I have never paid much attention to the rule 5 guys.- Josh Paul's Tribute to Joe Nossek
2k4, why not merge all the JN threads?- RIP: They ALSO died in Iraq
The list is just foreign aid, not internal charities. And actually I would think the gap would widen. With the countries being so close together in Europe giving to a neighbor wuld seem more likely. I've also seen lists, but can not find it, that considering all charitable gifts, we are behind most other countries. We do rank better at donating time. Sociologists point to our "keeping up with the Joneses" and "throw away" mentality for spending more on ourselves than we do others.- RIP: They died in Iraq
Most of the world agrees they do. One of the amazing things to me is more countries have not successfully bought or built nukes. I would think with money all things are possible. Oil, more than religion, drives the world's interest in this region. Put these countries in an area without a major resource, and this conflict would be a footnote in world history. It is a testiment to humanity and humankind's inherit goodness, that neither side has annihilated the other. The world has been referee here. I have read predictions that the next World War will begin in the Middle East. The ideology goes deep. The rest of the world needs the oil, and there is money galore to buy weapons from willing manufacturers. The only hope for our planet is both sides learn to live in peace. With all the hatred and mistrust it may take a miracle. - RIP: They died in Iraq
