I find it sad that so many hockey fans believe the sport cannot survive without fighting. That fighting makes it interesting. Hey Doubleday, do you know what your sport needs? More fighting. Hey Naismith, do you know what your sport needs? More fighting. People that go to hockey games to watch the fights are no better than Cub and Bull fans who go to games to be seen.

This is where support our Troops always gets ugly. In some circles it means cheering no matter wat they do. Do not say anything negative. I support our Troops by making damn certain before we put one soldier in harms it is absolutely necessary. No vanity wars. No tail waging the dog. No macho b.s. I support our Troop by letting my congressman know if we are placing US soldiers in harms way, they damn well better have the best technology and best facilities available. I do not want a US soldier running out of fod, clothing, shelter, or ammo. Especially ammo. I support our Troops by writing my congressman and telling them I want unmanned drones fighting our wars. I support the Troops by questioning why so many soldiers are reporting being raped, why they are drinking more, and why they are comitting suicide more. I do not trust the government to do the right thing without the citizens staying vigilant. And finally Nuke, you speak of "activist" Clinton admins. I guess you would prefer inactivity in your officials. Interesting the GOP tosses names at people like activists for judges, etc. who they do not agree with. I am certain they have had dozens of focus groups to determine the publics preceptions of that word. So I give you a short lists of activists to consider: The framers and signers of the Declaration of Independance. The writters of our Constitustion, the one you swore to uphold. So next time you enjoy a beer, thank the activists who repealed Prohibition. Next time your girlfriend votes, thank an activist. Anyone in a mixed racial marriage, thank an activist. When you see equal opportunity, thank an activist When you have clean air to breath, thank an activist When you go to a national park, thank an activist When you have clean water to drink, thank an activist When you retire and the first social security check arrives, thank an activist When you realize no one you know has polio, thank an activist I could go on, but you get the point.

Nuke, that is what is being reported here.

Nuke, I asked questions, didn't make a statement. We had a thread a few days ago that listed alchoholics at the highest rate in two decades and even top Pentagon officials have publically commented that the suicide rate in Iraq is the highest rate of all time. But to be fair Nuke, I won't make any comments about military issues if you will not make any on civilian. Nuke note this is a Pentagon Survey Nope I guess I don't know anything if I believe the Pentagon

bummer. I wish McCain was on one of the tickets. I thought a Bush-McCain ticket would have been perfect against Kerry.

Interesting that the right would be worried about the NY Times when every major media talk show is conservative. I find most of the network news too conservative for me, you find them too liberal, well maybe they are down the middle? Nuke, if you agreed with them then wouldn't they be conservative? And tell me with all those popular shows, with none on the liberal side, can the GOP, with a straight face, complain about a liberal bias in the Media? Or is Rush, Hannity, etc. just entertainers and not offering facts and analysis? Cry me a river that there is too much liberal reporting. The GOP takes a selected quote, passes it too their ditto head media analysis and spentd hours giving their slanted opinions on a 2 minute report.

And football and baseball fans don't? I guess hockey doesn't attract the main stream sports fan or we should be arguing hockey has it right and we need to have more fighting in baseball, basketball, and football. Or can those sports attract fans without the fighting?

and [/color] goes after

let me help with that: the gooes before the quote.

Even the Tigers won a few games last year. Even when they weren't playing us

No one is helping me pass my damn math class, but I don't want congress getting involved.

From moochpuppy I know I should not be laughing, but each time I scrolled past that line, I laughed. My bad.

LOL, they play clips of s*** they think sound good. Thankfully they dropped the local show. The producer actually bribed me with a t-shirt one day to go on the air and help out the host who was bombarded with less informed callers than normal. Believe it or don't; Mike and Mike is an improvement over that local show. Not the hosts fault but a call in show with drunk winter Texans and worse does not make great entertainment.
-
Do we really need congress involved in this? Why not turn them over to the police for criminal charges? Why not do the right thing and suspend these guys immediately? Oh yeah 70 home runs puts asses in the seats to buy $5.50 beers. How silly of me to even think the integrity of the game means anything to the players, owners, or the league.

I was mixing up two events. Thank you for the refresher and anotehr reminder why I stay in the letters section of my campus.

damn you, if you keep replying to all my postsm, I'll never have as many posts as you I'm hearing a number of hockey commentators saying 1. It was an accident. Looked worse than what it was. He tugged on his sweater a couple times to instigate the fight. The fall wasn't in his control. 2. He'll be back for the playoffs. I only get bits and pieces down here. With a local team now, I hear more coverage but not enough to get a decent feel.

I thought the WW caused the Tulip Depression. What happened?

How could hockey survive without this excitement? If he is allowed to play anytime this season, I will never watch NHL hockey again. I hate seeing a game I love turn into the f*cking roller derby or WWF. If a fan did that, we would be screaming they be sent to jail for 5 years. There are too many no talent goons allowed to play in the league. Take away fighting and you will see some excellent clean hits, like in football. It's BS to think that a game cannot be physical without fighting. look at golf oops I mean football. And if anyone disagrees with me I'll come there and kick 100% of their ass
-
Agreed. And too much blame.

IIRC the military was in a state of low morale during the Clinton years because Billy wasn't a military man, his personal short falls, etc. Now we have Bush, and if reports are to believed, suicide and alchoholism have increased with our military men and women. Could it be the President really doesn't have much effect on this? Liberal media making s*** up? Too high expectations with W? No WMD? Not enough people to shoot? Vast right wing conspiracy? I tend to believe the President does not have as much impact on our soldiers as the vast right wing conspiracy and the liberal media would have us believe.

I was thinking the all time high and neither.

Damn, I sure would like to know how the young woman sitting across from me would answer that I am beginning to see why the public internet access area here is so popular. Toss in a couple wide screens and a bar and I might never leave.

would you credit that to Bush, Clinton, or neither?
