Show, of course it is all made like Friends or Seinfeld only not as funny. Is it suppose to be fiction? Isn't Rush and the others providing information? When he comes on and talks about what was reported, then tells you what to think, isn't he having more influence than the original? The GOP wants to stop judges from protecting us from unconstitutional laws and stop the NEWS media from reporting their mistakes. I will not let them destroy America that way. I picture the GOP elephant cowering on a chair with a mouse at it's feet. I find it amazing they laugh that a liberal talk show won't make it, in the 24 hour, round the clock conservative talk show, world. Then cry if George W isn't painted with a halo. Add up the hours and hours of news and commentary time and see if the MEDIA isn't conservative.

So the GOP worries if the 45 second spot on ABC News isn't to their exact point of view, when they will spend hours and hours and reach a greater audience with their talk shows? Give me a break. The Media, the radio and tv stations that are beamed into our homes is conservative. Hours and Hours of radio programming is from conservative talk show hosts. And what is the GOPs answer? Telling people not to believe the NEWS media. Again, isn't that cozy? Do not believe the group that is watching over us. Believe the talk show entertainers who have no journalistic duty to report fairly or even tell the truth. They cannot be sued for reporting lies if it is labeled as opinion. They want you to believe Rush, who you are saying doesn't have to offer fair and balanced reporting or even tell the truth, because he isn't the NEWS media. And y'all think that is better? The GOP is saying "do not listen to CNN, ABC, NBC, etc. Listen to talk show hosts with a conservative agenda for information?" You aren't getting it. The GOP wants to control what you believe. If anyone disagrees with their actions, they are labeled as the "liberal media" out to get conservatives. That is exactly why the USSR took over their news agency. You could not trust the newspapers, etc. to report the truth. So the Communist Party must take over the newspapers and tell you what to believe. Because, of course, if the GOP ran the news it would be fair and balanced reporting. Do you listen to these commentators and form opinions based on what they ae saying? Dittoheads?

On the surface, this is such an easy decision. The only concern I have is somehow establishing a bar of abuse that must be crossed over. Is a nasty remark enough? A solitary push? One punch? One beating? Hours, Days, Weeks, Months, Years of abuse? My God the thought of deciding how much abuse a person should endure before being granted asylum is so surreal.
  16. I am laughing and crying at the same time.
  17. Linky with local (Chicago) quotes Can't these people just look away?
  18. I find it sad that so many hockey fans believe the sport cannot survive without fighting. That fighting makes it interesting. Hey Doubleday, do you know what your sport needs? More fighting. Hey Naismith, do you know what your sport needs? More fighting. People that go to hockey games to watch the fights are no better than Cub and Bull fans who go to games to be seen.

  20. This is where support our Troops always gets ugly. In some circles it means cheering no matter wat they do. Do not say anything negative. I support our Troops by making damn certain before we put one soldier in harms it is absolutely necessary. No vanity wars. No tail waging the dog. No macho b.s. I support our Troop by letting my congressman know if we are placing US soldiers in harms way, they damn well better have the best technology and best facilities available. I do not want a US soldier running out of fod, clothing, shelter, or ammo. Especially ammo. I support our Troops by writing my congressman and telling them I want unmanned drones fighting our wars. I support the Troops by questioning why so many soldiers are reporting being raped, why they are drinking more, and why they are comitting suicide more. I do not trust the government to do the right thing without the citizens staying vigilant. And finally Nuke, you speak of "activist" Clinton admins. I guess you would prefer inactivity in your officials. Interesting the GOP tosses names at people like activists for judges, etc. who they do not agree with. I am certain they have had dozens of focus groups to determine the publics preceptions of that word. So I give you a short lists of activists to consider: The framers and signers of the Declaration of Independance. The writters of our Constitustion, the one you swore to uphold. So next time you enjoy a beer, thank the activists who repealed Prohibition. Next time your girlfriend votes, thank an activist. Anyone in a mixed racial marriage, thank an activist. When you see equal opportunity, thank an activist When you have clean air to breath, thank an activist When you go to a national park, thank an activist When you have clean water to drink, thank an activist When you retire and the first social security check arrives, thank an activist When you realize no one you know has polio, thank an activist I could go on, but you get the point.
  21. Nuke, that is what is being reported here.
  22. Nuke, I asked questions, didn't make a statement. We had a thread a few days ago that listed alchoholics at the highest rate in two decades and even top Pentagon officials have publically commented that the suicide rate in Iraq is the highest rate of all time. But to be fair Nuke, I won't make any comments about military issues if you will not make any on civilian. Nuke note this is a Pentagon Survey Nope I guess I don't know anything if I believe the Pentagon
  23. bummer. I wish McCain was on one of the tickets. I thought a Bush-McCain ticket would have been perfect against Kerry.
