  1. I don't pretend to have any insight into this but my guess would be we stay within a few percentages of last years.
  2. Billy Botch or William Koch? Of all the pitchers on the staff, Koch has the highest upside. At his best, he's better than anyone we have. Problem is Billy Botch is a solid AA relief pitcher. If we have most of our roster back, we're in the thick of the race again and need reliability and if we can trade for a 25 man roster type of guy, I'd move him. If we are in some between year thing, keep him and hope he comes around to his old form and dump him at the trade deadline to a contender who's desperate and willing to overpay.
  3. back to looking at the clouds in my coffee . . .
  4. If he was a school teacher we wouldn't know about it. RIP everyone today that will die a senseless death. Prayers to their families who loved them unconditionally.
  5. This game usually bumps Disco Demolition to the #2 spot of promotions gone wrong. One thing that I think is always misunderstoof about DD is the fact that the White Sox planned the event. Dahl followed the script. Of course taking the blame was an excellent career move for Dahl. Sox management, and especially little Veek, have managed to avoid any blame. I had tickets to the game but decided to sell them, at double face value, because I didn't want to fight the crowd and I wasn't up to a double header. Now I really wish I had gone.
  6. These things hit even harder after you have kids. I know of three couples who had to go overseas to adopt children because the system is so f***ed up and then you read crap like this. Makes me sick.
  7. PA, This is reason number 1036 it's better to live in Texas BeGood, be Good behind the wheel. Your best chance of dying before reaching adulthood is by a vehicle accident. I lost my brother because he was driving like an asshole. He killed himself, almost killed a good friend of his, and did minimal damage to a 50 year old oak tree.
  8. We routinly take physical items, scan them or take digital photos and use them on line. Most will feel it is fair use as long as it isn't for financial gain. Is the reverse ethical? If someone creates a digital image and someone else downloads it and produces a t-shirt, etc. and gives it away or at no profit is that ethical? As we become more and more a digital society and value digital over physical will the ethics involve change? To use a real world example. Baseball cards can be scanned and displayed on different sites that catalog issues or are a reference source for collectors. Cards are scanned and put on the sites without any ethical debate. If the card exists only digitally could a card manufacturer produce the card? Again at no profit to keep the analogy.
  9. You will not believe this. Too funny
  10. It's a grudge baby, someone had it in for him I thought he was gay!? Not that there's anything wrong with that

Say It's not you it's me If all of that doesn't work just be honest and open and nice. Do unto others, etc.
  12. I never really paid attention to OG while he was coaching. I've been thinking about his attitude and playing style. I wonder what everyone else, pro and con is basing their opinion.

  15. Speaking of Boondocks is the Boondocks bar still open? I believe it was off North Avenue near the Kennedy. They use to book some decent Blues bands. I would stop in on my way home from the stadium. How's that for a big switch?
  16. I have to enjoy this. When we hit 100 degrees for the 103rd consecutive day next August I need some reason to remind me why I moved to the deep south. But for now

Tell me more Mr. Professor Damn can you help with my Developmental Psy course? For Abnormal Psy. I had to find examples of various discorders in on line communications i.e. chat rooms, message boards, list servs etc. It was so cool, I just printed out one of the moved and locked threads here and got an A. If the poster who made it all possible knew how much he helped
  18. Are we certain Cito turned us down? I'm not so sure we would have disclosed that specific of information to a candidate who will probably be talking to other teams as well. Perhaps Cito saw the "negotiations" we had with Colon and took that as a sign the team was going backwards. Or the uncertaintly all around the line up. I'm hoping Ozzie is the next "Dah Coach". Who knows maybe lightening can strike twice. Who gets to be the Buddy Ryan figure? I like the move. I always enjoyed Ozzies intensity. I remember a game up in Milwaukee that I had exelent seats for. I was 1st row next to the WS on-deck circle. Ozzie grounded out hard for the third time and as he ran to the dug out he flung his helmet into the dugout and screamed f*** this mother f***ing game and you could hear him b****ing for a few minutes. Then he was on the dugout steps pleading for some hits.

  20. Florida won because THEY knew when to dump a manager that was taking them no where. Was Ozzie already there?
  21. Hmm, How could either candidate do a better job then Jerry Manuel? If this was an NBA teach or some other MLB team we would be asking who does "fill in the superstar name here" want? I haven't once heard anyone ask or say who Frank Thomas wants. You would think with all his years as the guy someone, sometime would have stuck a camera or microphone in front of him. Points out what a team leader he is.
