    Student Loan Debt

If everyone received $10,000 in forgiveness it would benefit more those that chose a less expensive route. That $10,000 might be 50% of their total bill versus 10% or less at an expensive private school. The surprise to me in this is the realization that somehow in my lifetime Democrats went from being the worker, tradesperson, blue color person to the educated and Republicans are now Joe Six Pack.

    Student Loan Debt

Yes. We've bailed out enough corporations in my lifetime, I'd like to see individuals get a handout for once.
  3. They won't make the MLB if an umpire is afraid that someone might yell at them and it affects their calls. They get to, and stay at, the MLB for getting calls right, not from avoiding confrontation by making wrong calls.
  4. At his best, he was great. At his worst, he was ordinary. I thought he should have switched roles his last 10 years.

    The Beer Thread

It makes a great chaser for a bloody Mary. Spotted Cow has a great marketing plan. Limited availability in a tourist area. The name link of cows and Wisconsin. A totally neutral flavor so if you buy a pitcher no one can really complain. And it's at literally every bar we went to. And my wife bought a 12 pack to give our kids back in Texas. It's drinking memories. I'll knock down an Old Style and Miller High Life while I'm here. I had my share of Spotted Cow here. It was always the same. What do you have on tap? Usually a boring mix of national brands then a Leiny Summer Shandy or Spotted Cow.
  6. Who would you put Yermin on for a Chicago Sports Mount Rushmore? Yermin William Perry Granville Waiters Bob Probert

I'm returning from Wisconsin. I don't get the Spotted Cow worship. Actually, I have a clue. The correlation between ordering a Spotted Cow and wearing a Cub's cap was almost 100%.
  8. And I'm very happy he's currently not performing well enough to make this team. Championship teams are tougher to stay on. And if he can't handle his manager being upset with him how's he going to handle a WS with 60,000 fans booing him? Retire?
  9. If universal DH hits he has much higher trade value. Hang on to his rights until that gets settled.
  10. I agree. But a hall of fame guy boss? That must be hall of fame level calling out. Lol
  11. Eventually players run out of teams willing to give a player a chance. Teams aren't stupid, scouts and managers saw the raw talent, gave him a try for a while and moved on. He's a footnote in Sox history. Giving him someone else to blame may also be a problem. Didn't one of his former managers state he could never take responsibility for his own actions? 9 His early mega success may have been his downfall. In golf it's guys winning a major, are cashing in on opportunities and think they should be top 10 every week.
  12. Does Soxtalk lose a year of control by allowing too many posts? He could hit free agency sooner.
  13. Who plays in the game is a manager's decision. Seems easy enough to announce he's not playing. I'm shocked more victims haven't come forward and I'm willing to withhold judgement until a full investigation, I just wouldn't be willing to see him play.
  14. Potentially much bigger if you are a star in a revenue positive sport. But for 99% of the kids, it won’t be much if anything.

    2021 Catch-All

The more I'm reading about the building collapse in Miami the more I don't want to enter a multistory building again.

    Post Pandemic Poll

25 to 1 in poll reported same or better finances. Perhaps the idea is tangible spending continues at an elevated rate and restaurants and event spending stays depressed. I’ve been at the point in life that there just aren’t any things I really want. It’s more replacing things that have worn out. When anyone asks about gifts for me, I always suggest events, classes, shows, etc. so my spending will probably return much the same. That is if my wife ever wants to be indoors with other people.
  17. We were driving though a tiny Missouri town which had its July 4th decorations up at their little league fields with a game going on. A flood of memories followed. Craziest play I was ever involved in. I was 10 and playing in the All Star game after the parade. For some reason I was playing 3rd. I never played 3rd before. Runner on first, a line drive comes at my head and more for self defense than anything else I raised the borrowed glove ( I only had a catcher's mit with me) and somehow hung on. The home plate umpire signals out. The hit was so fast the coaches were yelling where's the ball? Confusion is starting. I see the batter running to first and throw to first. The 1st baseman tags the base and the ump signals out. Meanwhile the 1st baseman sees the runner heading to 3rd and throws it back to me and I tag the baserunner. The 3rd base ump (big game 4 umps) signals out. Triple Play!!!! People are cheering. I'm getting pats on the back. We run into the dugout. The other team grabs their gloves and starts running onto the field. Time out!! Neither scorekeeper could figure out how to score it. Gradually what really happened became clear. A few minutes later we were back in our positions with 2 outs. Lol
  18. The closer we get to college athletes making a nice living the happier I am for them, it just seems fair, and the less likely I am to be watching college sports. If I want to see pros, I'll watch pros.
  19. Yikes. They aren't use to that.

Great baseball so far. Plus I'm not watching the Sox.
