http://www.politics1.com/p2016.htm https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States..._election,_2016 Anyone interested in taking a third party and writing a summary of their platform and the candidates?- Holy crap, the site works at work today!
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 3, 2016 -> 08:33 PM) To be fair, we don't expect anything else Thank you. I expected you to say you don't expect anything more.- Danks DFA'd
Who wants to go back to the minors? I believe he's done.- John Danks Appreciation Thread
It's sad when an athlete's career ends on such a low note. If the team was sub .500 he keeps on pitching and chucking it up there and getting toasted like a pop tart. I'm sorry to see the Danks that was trotting out there this year.- Short Sale Question
QUOTE (shipps @ May 3, 2016 -> 02:19 PM) It was purchased to be primary home but she started renting it out once she got married and bought a bigger home. The value of the condo isnt projected to rebound any time soon at all. At least 5 years from now maybe more until she can get her purchased proce. She did not have an agreement with the bank on a certain price going into the market. Although the hang up doesnt seem to be the selling price as much as it is the lack of extreme financial hardship that the bank wants to see. If nothing else works adjust your thinking that it is part of your retirement savings.- Danks DFA'd
I will remember him as a very good pitcher who worked his ass off to rehab after a horrific injury but just couldn't get all the way back. I feel bad for him but seriously he isn't a MLB pitcher currently.- Financial News
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 3, 2016 -> 01:16 PM) We don't agree on much, but we absolutely agree on this point. My exception is I view CEO pay of people who founded a company much different vs. those who become stewards of a long-time, solid company. It took me a while to get to this point but . . . I even object to founders who have employees working at poverty rates while they make millions times more. Or founders earning millions while their employees qualify for benefits like child care, food stamps, etc. At some point they have been repaid for their risk, etc.- Financial News
QUOTE (Y2HH @ May 3, 2016 -> 10:09 AM) Me either. And I think Bass Pro is buying Cabelas, so good luck with sports authority and dicks trying to compete. That's an interesting acquisition.- Short Sale Question
I wonder if it being an investment home also works against your friend. A foreclosure, if necessary, is much easier if it is not the primary residence. Has your friend thought about selling shares in the house and at least spread the pain. Someone coming in low might be interested. It would at least free up some cash to invest elsewhere. What is the long term projection for value? Could the prices rebound in 2 years? 20 years?- Finding A Trade Partner for Ryan Braun
Nice article. But no.- Ryan Braun
As a desperate move to stay in the race for this year? No. Come to think of it. No.- 5/3 Game thread: Boston, 7:10pm, CSN
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 3, 2016 -> 10:52 AM) just want to say thanks to everyone who puts start times and channels in game thread titles x2- Holy crap, the site works at work today!
I thought you were lost . . . I'm sorry. That was truly lame.- Technology catch-all thread
QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 3, 2016 -> 10:14 AM) A dvd player is like 20 dollars and is made for much less. People also use and depend on their cell phone alot more than a laptop or personal computer. Thats why the demand is so high. Sorry. I'm doing a terrible job of making my point. From a manufacturing cost standpoint, a cell phone can not be that much more expensive to manufacture than a basic lap top yet they sell for hundreds more. All the things you are mentioning are true about why the demand is greater than for a cell phone. How does depending on their cell phones cause the phone to cost more to manufacture? The profit margins on phones is crazy.- Sox attended Lincecum showcase day - Angels expected to sign him
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 3, 2016 -> 12:27 PM) Last June and had surgery. Besides he wants to go back to the Giants. Surgically repaired pitchers don't seem to fare so well less than a year after major surgery. Especially guys who haven't been good for half a decade anyway. His fastball last year was the same as Danks' this year. If you didn't like the 2015 Danks heater, Lincecum hasn't thrown that hard in a couple of years. If you are going to replace a gas can, replacing it with another obvious gas can doesn't make much sense to me. The guy even cut his hair. Why bother? This. The only only reason for the Sox to be there is to tell the teams that "lose" out on Lincecum that they can have Danks as a consolation prize.- Technology catch-all thread
QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 3, 2016 -> 08:51 AM) Do a restore and it should fix it DVD player? You are showing your age Tex. It streams video and can hold multiple HD res movies and TV shows. It also packs all of that processing power into a MUCH smaller container which costs money Just pointing out additional costly items that are included. A laptop streams movies and can hold multiple HD res movies and TV shows, plus play them back on larger (more costly) displays. I've been meaning to call one of my old buddies from my components days to see what processors are selling for nowadays. But unless something has dramatically changed the margins on cell phones are 5x other consumer electronics. SS2k5 hit the nail on the head. Demand. People will shell out $800 for a new cell phone. Watch demand slip and prices will fall in a hurry. The costs aren't hundreds of dollars more to build a cell phone. Shipping costs are less.- Vacation/Travel Thread
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 3, 2016 -> 08:28 AM) When are you going to be in Bend, and what are you planning on checking out in the area? We've got a tentatively planned trip to Oregon for late July, and I think our route took us through Bend for a night. We were flying into Portland and basically doing a big loop of the state, hitting the coast first before dropping down to Crater Lake. Then we wind our way east to the Wallowas before heading back down the Columbia River Gorge to the Mt. Hood area and eventually back to Portland for a night or two. edit other than that, we're going to Maine/Acadia for a long weekend in a month and to Breckenridge for a friend's wedding over Labor Day weekend. We are going at the end of June. Hiking, biking, microbreweries, Crater Lake, heading to the coast. We were in Acadia a couple summers ago. Bar Harbor is a great tourist town. We loved driving through the small coastal towns. Sailing on the bay. Whale watch. Bahr and Lahbsta every day.- Vacation/Travel Thread
You have to visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.- John Danks should never start for the White Sox again
QUOTE (flavum @ May 3, 2016 -> 09:57 AM) It's a nice thought, but he shouldn't. The Sox took the risk when they signed him. I could see him hitting the DL today. Try to clear his head for a couple weeks. The DL might not work if he isn't really injured. Plus, why would he voluntarily fake an injury?- White Sox MVP of April
I always have a hard time naming a starting pitcher as most valuable. The comparison to an everyday player makes it almost unfair. Sale of course is a solid pick for MVPitcher but I would give the MVPlayer to Eaton. I want to find a spot for Lawrie besides being the top Canadian Sox player in my lifetime.- IMG Football
They just announced the cost has risen another $4.1 million. IIRC this will be a $65,000,000 high school stadium. The schools in Dallas just met with Time Warner and the UIL (State governing agency for HS sports in Texas) about revenues from TV games. Currently Thursday and Saturday games are televised along with playoffs. It is starting to look like there is some money to be made for Friday night games which may pave way to televise those as well. Lots of tradition could fall over money.- 2015-16 NHL thread
I forgot hockey was still going on- Cleveland outdrew us? Attendance down 13% so far
Splitting the market in a northern city. No wonder the team looked at having an entire southern city to themselves. What a dream move it would be if they took off for San Antonio. 7th largest city. Supports the Spurs. San Antonio Sox. It even has a nice ring to it.- Fun Note
These are fun notes. I'm cautiously excited at this point. - 2016 "Independent Third Party" Presidential Nominees
