Frank Thomas: I could be the White Sox hitting coach.
QUOTE (jwmann2 @ Oct 28, 2011 -> 09:42 PM) It's pretty simple. You surround the organization with people that are passionate about the franchise. Mark Mcgwire is the hitting coach for the Cardinals. They are playing baseball tonight..... Frank Thomas was almost as good of a hitter as Mcgwire. The only area that Mac excelled over Frank was steroid aided long balls.

Frank Thomas: I could be the White Sox hitting coach.
Someone name a hitter whose style would work for every player? I'm not certain what Cooper may have shown in his 1-5 5+ ERA MLB career that would have proven he would be a good pitching coach. A good coach has to be more than do what I did . . . He has to understand the basics, the fundamentals, be a great communicator (where I think Frank may have a challenge), have a good eye for details, be able to encourage, be a good teacher.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 29, 2011 -> 01:38 AM) Are people finally going to admit the NL inferior league stuff is crap? Two years in a row now. The NL isn't weaker than the AL. If it is, then why does the NL keep winning the f***ing WS? Different styles of play

I must have missed it but why would TLR leave the town that loves him for the team that fired him?

Pee in a cup for benefits.

Pee in a cup for benefits.
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Oct 28, 2011 -> 08:06 AM) Do you feel the same way about the workplace urine tests that people with jobs that support such benefits are often required to take? I am against them without some reason, in law enforcement we would say probable cause. The situation I can remember was a company I was working for was acquired by another. The new company had a program of random tests. In the first wave of tests was out CFO. The man was 68 years old, only working to help ease the transition or he would have retired six months earlier. In thirty-five years working for the company he had taken three sick days, all when he had a hernia repaired. Almost never late, took his vacation, was an all around great employee. Why would you insult him by checking him? He went into the bathroom, peed in the cup, went back to his desk and wrote a letter of resignation. Best part, he never cleaned out his office, by the next day the new company was paying him 2X his old salary as a consultant. That was the most expensive drug test that company ever gave. I think there has to be some job performance issue that triggers the search of your body. Absences, lateness, mistakes, something.

Sucks that one team has to lose. I really hope for a well played game where one team goes out and wins it, no scapegoats, no errors, no fluky crap or bad calls.

Frank Thomas: I could be the White Sox hitting coach.
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 28, 2011 -> 05:56 AM) How fast his career went down the tubes? He won 50 games the 3 seasons after he left the Sox and pitched until he was 44 years old. Fast facts. Did you know that off the top of your head?

Weird doing the costume thing today. I have to make a stop on my way to school and after. I am trying to figure out a two step system to not look quite so weird.

Halloween Costumes
QUOTE (Rooftop Shots @ Oct 27, 2011 -> 07:12 PM) Need a corny idea??? In the past, I had a costume where nobody guess what I was. I got a black plastic kettle, hung it around my neck, and filled it up with bars of DIAL soap with a sign that said "What Am I?" Nobody guessed it, so at the end of the day I revealed to everyone that I am dressed up as a "Crock-O-Dial!!!" (Maybe that's why I don't post much. Who could stomach the one-liners?? Ah who knows.........maybe someday I'll reach #1000 yet!!) Nice

Pee in a cup for benefits.
How much lobbying from testing companies is going into this testing for benefits movement? Do you want to spend $5 to save $3? And are we really going to cut off aid intended for kids because their parent tests negative? How many retests will be necessary to be accurate and fair? Seems like a solution looking for a problem. The private prison lobby has been pushing tougher illegal alien laws everywhere to counter the more lax drug sentences, they are always looking for business. Now the drug testing companies are getting into the act.

Founding Fathers ~ Who ya got?
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 27, 2011 -> 09:46 PM) OK, Washington still had to lead the army to one of the most unforeseen victories ever, and then take the reigns as first president when he could have basically been, in other words, a king. George Washington is the living embodiment of the Roman ideal of Cincinnatus. The perfect kind of leader. To show how all of this is so intertwined, without the involvement from France, which Franklin secured by partying and lobbying, the victory probably doesn't happen. Something I learned last night, Lafayette and Von Steuban where also Freemasons. Washington would be turning over in his grave if he saw our two party system. I wonder really if he would object too much to our involvement around the world. I believe he would have seen the necessity for change from a young weak nation to the superpower we are today and the responsibilities that come with that.

Founding Fathers ~ Who ya got?
It was Franklin that convinced Washington to even attend the Constitutional Convention and worked hard to assure George was in charge.

Founding Fathers ~ Who ya got?
I have to go with the elder statesman of the group, Ben Franklin. His diplomacy in securing the French aid during the Revolutionary War was critical, his leadership during the writing of the current Constitution was brilliant. Has he been a few years younger he would have been the first president. Plus he was a player

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 26, 2011 -> 07:49 AM) Fixed. Do you think they had any discussions about other candidates or just said Oz is gone, hire Ventura? As far as your two candidates that you wanted interviewed, I believe they know enough about Cooper to make a judgement without a formal interview. Hell he negotiated his contract by going over his bosses head, so he and the front office are very comfortable with each other. I'd say Cooper had many informal interviews over the past few years. Plus, they may have actually done something classy and not announced who they interviewed and didn't hire. They didn't come out and say, Hey, we interviewed (insert names here) and they sucked during the interview. Image how Cooper would have felt answering questions about how he failed in the interview. - Bacardi at the Park taxpayer funded
