  1. I believe civilian control of our military has worked very well for our 200+ years.
  2. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 9, 2011 -> 11:48 PM) Las Vegas I was a late follower, but it did jump the shark with Selleck
  3. Buffalo Bill starring Dabny Coleman in the early 80s. It was nominated for a bunch of emmys including best comedy, was only on for two years. The entire series fits on one DVD. News Radio really died an early death.
  4. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 9, 2011 -> 07:19 AM) Tex that's why I wonder how much of Jackie Kennedy's Homemaker Princess of Camelot act was just an affectation — basically her playing the role and not really showing much of her self. I never though much about it until watching the ABC White House Tour reels just a couple of years ago. I don't know if it was her reading from a script, being camera shy, or what, but to me she just comes off as completely vapid in that hour-long slice of media history. Certainly she was more engaging than she comes off here. This about what was happening in society when she was in the White House. Society was beginning to change at a rapid pace. What would she have been doing if she wasn't first lady?
  5. QUOTE (The Sir @ Aug 9, 2011 -> 07:47 AM) So it's acceptable to cheat on your lover if they cheat on you? I strongly disagree. JFK was in the wrong, but by mimicking his poor behsvior, Jackie was equally wrong and equally classless. So what if she couldn't confront him? She could still maintain her dignity and her honor by upholding her end of the marital vows. She chose not to do that, and thus, she disgraced herself as much as he did. I don't disagree that she disgraced herself by today's standards. But I'm not going to cast such a harsh light on what she did.
  6. Seinfeld eventually replaced MASH on my all time list although Frasier is also in the mix somewhere. Looking over some of the mentions I have to say Hill Street Blues was a hell of a show. Currently Criminal Minds is my favorite drama and Big Bang my favorite comedy. Animated, it would be King of the Hill replacing Family Guy for me.
  7. fiftyfive hundred replies
  8. We keep finding out that elected leaders and other famous people are actually humans and the entire range of human events happens to them. It seems odd that she should remain celibate while he was having those affairs. As far as the types of men she had affairs with, that is the social circle she was in. It would have been rather difficult for her to have had an affair with Bud the mechanic from the Quick Lube. She did have a fairly successful career as a literary editor at Doubleday. She clearly did not need to work. The position was more than ceremonial, she kept regular office hours and by all accounts did very well for the company.
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 02:39 PM) How so? What effect will that money have on jobs or the economy? Helps out newspapers and other media outlets. Provide campaign jobs like secretaries, blog writers, canvases, advance people of various talents, consultants.
  10. Wouldn't allowing unlimited contributions help the economy? Let's allow as much spending as a candidate can raise. That's an economic stimulus.
  11. A certain sign that the season is over for both teams, I can't get excited after getting crushed by the Twins in so many series that actually mattered.
  12. Blessed Texas with his own hand, God did.
  13. It may have been as simple as moving them from one location to another. I was reading an article a few years back comparing moving troops to anyone's daily commute and how odds are, people will die. Just like next week in Chicago there will probably be a fatal car accident on someone's daily commute.
  14. Zoom Zoom, I love those commercials
  15. From soxtalk.com lol
  16. We know they all (will) do it. Linked Free speech ain't free.
  17. Just wondering why this was in the filibuster?
  18. QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 6, 2011 -> 02:22 PM) .I always thought the guy was dead for the past 6-7-8 years anyway. That would mean that Bush passed on a chance to fake the death leaving the opportunity for Obama. I'm not believing that.
  19. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 04:38 AM) I would overpay Mark Buehrle. I agree 100%, plus I believe he earned and would continue to earn the type of contract that some would call overpaying.
  20. How much of the job of front office, coaches, and managers is motivating players to be successful? Of course he shouldn't need outside motivation, but in reality everyone does at times. Someone has to find a way into his head and turn this around. It would seem like AJ/PK should be in this guy's face.
  21. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 04:30 AM) Am I the only guy who would like to see LaRussa back in town? The dude's a douche but he's also a proven winner. I don't mind assholes as long as they get the job done. Douchebag winner>>>Classy loser Add me to the list.
  22. Thank you SS.
  23. Hey Jr. we would apologize for the anti-homosexual stuff on here, but they are mostly quotes from your dad.
  24. If Jr. stopped in the filibuster there are plenty of anti Mexican comments in regards to immigration.
