Government Shutdown on the clock thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 07:37 AM) Which part? The "Closing Planned Parenthood" part? That would remove $0 funding towards abortions and billions of dollars towards other women's health issues. Costs that would of course wind up being paid 10 times over when those same women wind up at the hospital. So you believe that given the choice of funding abortions or other women's health issues, PP will choose to find abortions with their available funding?

Government Shutdown on the clock thread
Was this in response to my post immediately above it? I said I was uncomfortable telling poor women to have abortions because they are on public aid. I thought this was in response to that post. So who should shut up about it? I'm confused. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 9, 2011 -> 10:45 AM) I feel uncomfortable running a nation where we'll put our heads in the sands and act like people don't have sex out of marriage, and just forcing young, uneducated women (uneducated in the 'what is happening to my body and what should I do' sense) be forced into the shadows. If you've never been to planned parenthood, please shut up about it.

Should Sox hit Felipe with pitch or not Sunday?
It was all in one motion so I could believe it was an accident, especially *if* he hadn't had the reaction earlier to being pitched inside. At regular speed when I saw it first, I didn't think it was on purpose. Plus he did put his head down and ran the bases. I'm of the just beat them again school.

Nishioka with a broken leg
Baseball is not a contact sport, so any play that results in this kind of injury probably has someone at fault. Was it the 2nd baseman or the player sliding?

That's right someone here did say they could hit him. LOL I was trying to find the post, was it in the I am Drunk thread?

In his favor, he put his head down and ran the bases without yelling something to Sale. But throwing the bat was more bush league than big league. Keep throwing inside.

Laptop Shopping
As I mentiond I am replacing a Dell e1705 which was a $1,200 laptop a few years back when I bought it. My quandry is I'm only going to really use it for a couple months out of the year, but I will be using it for video applications. The rest of the year I have a school laptop for most of my work and a desktop at home. So I'm not thinking desktop replacement. From some of my research, and the comments here, I am planning on upgrading to 8M and an i5. Which is my usual progression with electronics. Thanks for all the comments, I will be buying next week. I've been to the manufacturers websites, but need to see some in person.

And I have been to planned parenthood, so I guess I can talk. They have a very nice building here, about five or six years old. Built just for them. Also, they have some wonderful, dedicated, people working there.

Government Shutdown on the clock thread
So bmags you do believe that poor people should have abortions because they can't afford their children? I believe poor people should have the same choices that every other person has. The right to have children. Suggesting that it is an advantage to society that poor mothers have abortion while wealthier people have their children makes me uncomfortable. I am not uncomfortable with Planned Parenthood, their annual shrimp boil fundraiser is actually a nice event that I have supported several times. But supporting choice, IMNSHO is also supporting the choice to have children, not just the choice to abort their baby. Again, suggesting somehow that poor women should abort for financial reasons makes me uncomfortable.

I was about to write that he may have been battling for a starting spot on some of the Sox teams I've watched. Thankfully we're talking the last roster spot.

Laptop Shopping
My Dell has finally crapped out and I'm shopping for a new laptop. My old one had a 17" display, I know I want to go smaller. So far the specs I've kind of settled on are . . . 15" class display, i3 or AMD equal, 4G ram, 500G hard drive, HDMI out, the usual wireless options, card reader, etc. Anything else? Recommendations? Basically it will be a summr laptop to use while I am living at South Padre and while on vacation. I could do almost everything I need from my phone, but saving videos from my FlipCam and storing pics. If possible I want to stay under $600 but could stretch the budget if there was a real compelling reason or feature.

I would be really uncormfortable telling poor people they should not reproduce or that if they are pregnant, they should consider an abortion. Seems like it creates two classes of babies.

Government Shutdown on the clock thread
If someone comes in and pays for your mortgage, you can use that money to pay for booze and hookers. Then you can tell them that none of their money went to booze and hookers. Same thing with the lotto funds go towards education, yet there never was an increase that could be directly tied to the lotto. It is a slight if hands. Not hating on PP, just pointing out that the GOP isn't totally out of the ballpark on this, even if I don't exactly agree with them. Damn, f*** I can't go back and edit without deleting everything. "that money" in line one is the money you were using to pay your mortgage, which is now freed up.

Firefox 4.0 problems
QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 3, 2011 -> 02:36 PM) Download the exe of FF 4.0 to your desktop but don't start the upload. Remove 4.0 from your add/remove area in your control panel. Click on the exe and re-load 4.0. See if that helps. I totally removed all traces of Firefox and still have some issues. It will not give me a cursor at all. If can highlight but nothing after that. And only on soxtalk.

Adam Dunn had emergency appendectomy last night.
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 11:49 AM) Herb Lawrence Dis Kenny Williams is an idiot. How do you get player like Dunn? He knew that he had an appendix which makes it a 100% more likely to have a appendectomy than a free agent that doesn't have one.
