  1. knowing something can be dangerous, but usually not as dangerous as not knowing
  2. OMG, I just realized I get those two mixed up at times.
  3. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 07:10 PM) When I was younger, Olivo had just been called up. At the game, a foul ball off Sandy Alomars bat hit me right in the stomach and a lady sitting next to me grabbed it for her grandkids (who weren't at the game). I met Olivo later at Grandstand and he signed my hat and I was happy . Nice catch
  4. For $$ the Sox would sign him For $$$$$ he'd play for the Sox The rest is all negotiations.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 19, 2010 -> 01:09 PM) Isn't it a historical landmark? That makes "tearing it down" impossible. Which makes the discussion even more interesting. Who pays for the upkeep if no one is playing there? Is it even maintained?
  6. First team to the suburbs owns Chicagoland baseball. Something along 53, probably Schaumburg. I was trying to find it because the quote made me laugh. Some Cubs fan was saying that there was no way he'd go to a ballpark named after some business. When it was pointed out that Wrigley was the chewgum company, he left the conversation. Dumbass Cub fan.
  7. I was hearing today that amid the giddyness of Republicans being able to overhaul the health care bill comes the sobering reality that plans are already underway to comply. The expense of complying, then changing to something new, could be a nasty little surprise to some folks. Also What does it say about an industry that is against a law that would dump millions of new paying customers in their laps?
  8. I believe this highlights another strength of Perry, he has international experience, he can see Mexico from Texas, hell, he can swim there *and* speak the language when he gets there.
  9. Interesting conversation with a co-worker.
  10. Terrific, now we're burning stuff.
  11. And we'd catch more criminals if we allowed the police to search without warrants, take away attorneys, and stop that whole bail program. Just keep people locked up a couple years before their trial. Military rule would make us more safe, so anything could be justified. As has been said before, we have to give up our rights or the terrorists win.
  12. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 04:14 PM) You broke my heart Fredo. LOL, it was before I met you, and it meant nothing except I was cheap. Plus it was served at many venues.
  13. I have purchased so much Miller High Life in my life, there is no way I could leave it off a list. Now, it has probably been 20 years since I have, but still . . .

I need it for the towing, and some of the other outdoor stuff. My girlfriend has a Honda CRV which works most trips and drving around town. I may add a motorcycle to the mix for commuting. I lament selling my Vulcan 1500 a few years ago.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 12:54 PM) I guess I consider lying about people and their reputations pretty mean spirited, especially both under oath and in speeches to the American public. By saying he did not have sex with Lewinsky? That seems more kind spirited (wrong, I'm not defending him lying) but it does seem like along with trying to save his own ass, he was helping her.
  16. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 12:42 PM) So we're supposed to stop this because some people are crazy? No, were suppose to satop this because of the 4th and 9th Amendments to our Constitution.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 11:48 AM) The big problems with that are actually biological. You swallow a bomb, your stomach acids are going to start working on it to break it down, and they're really good at dissolving high-energy organic compounds. And if somehow you have a bomb that can't dissolve, your stomach is going to start pushing it down to your intestines pretty quick. Plus there's the whole "fuse-gag reflex" issue. Couldn't it just me covered in a condom? If it works for drugs, I assume it would work for a bomb. You know as soon as a Republican is in the White House we're being investigated for this thread lol
  18. Yeah, mean spirited doesn't come to mind at all.
  19. I worry what the next level of scanning will be when bomb makers figure out an effective bomb that can be swallowed.
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 08:47 AM) I'm just baffled how seemingly intelligent people can actually defend her and want her to lead our nation. She is a mean spirited person that thrives on negative attacks, polarizes, frowns upon being well read/educated, and seems to lie about things for no particular reason. Sure I'm as liberal as they get but I can at least respect politicians across the aisle that I differ in policy who act civil. You made that sound like a bad thing?
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 16, 2010 -> 05:30 PM) I don't get that. I figured it was my favorite beers, not my favorite beers that can be found at 7-11. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Nov 16, 2010 -> 06:26 PM) Why not? Every time Knight makes one of these lists, it's for popular things that are likely to have many of the same answers so we can create a legit Top 10 or 20 list. If everyone makes lists of beers that no one else is going to have, but you happen to love it and it's from some small brewery, then how the heck are we going to make a Top 10 list? I guess it would only take 2 or 3 people to have the same beer to get it into the Top 5/10. I mean, I really like a few SweetWater beers (SweetWater Blue would make my Top 20), but I'm not going to include it on my list b/c I don't think you can find that in Chicago (where many of the people on here are from) or many other places outside the Southeast. Also, I really liked the Dark Lord Imperial Stout (Three Floyds Brewing Co.) when I had one last year and it was probably one of the best 20 beers I've ever had, but I wouldn't include it on my list b/c no one else would. What's the point of making a joint top beer list if everyone's top beers are different? There would be no consensus. ^^^ I beasically limited mine to beers I felt were distributed widely enough that any poster would have had a chance to try it.
  22. Yawn, that just seems like a very un-Kenny like move. I don't see it happening, will be shocked if it does. Mid season, need something, yeah. But not going into the season.
  23. The tree hugger in me and the Texan in me are fighting it out. For some practicle reasons, I will be buying a pick up truck. I really want a F250 HD or equal, which appeals to my Texas manhood. The tree hugger is thinking the F150 will be sufficient to tow what I need to tow *and* will offer better mileage for my 40 mile daily commute. (round trip) I wish I could afford two vehicles.
