  1. Mothers will now tell their kids only Doctors and government clerks can touch their private parts
  2. In a round of interviewing with the various and many department heads, someone asked what I thought of the color scheme in the waiting room. Seems I hit a home run when my answer centered around how customers and vendors would perceive the company based on the image it was portraying. I still thought it was a stupid question.
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 22, 2010 -> 08:39 AM) So here's a scenario that I just thought about. What if a potential terrorist used a prosthetic penis made from real skin and filled it with whatever they were trying to sneak onto the plane? Would the backscatter see through the fake penis? Couple that with some items hidden in their anal cavity and now you've just let someone on board with who knows what. I could see it now. They send a couple of test subjects through with nothing in the prosthetic to see if they get pulled aside. Terrorists have used fake penises, we have to check all penises to be certain they are real or the terrorists win!
  4. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 21, 2010 -> 06:26 PM) Disagree. The single best thing they did to secure planes, they already did - make the door nearly impossible to penetrate. If they have enough firepower to get through that door, then the a pilot with a pistol is hopeless. Further, I simply do not trust someone with virtually no training with a gun in a cockpit. It just won't go well. What if it's the unarmed navigator that is trying to take over the plane? Earlier you were worried about an armed pilot taking over the plane, how about an unarmed member of the crew? BTW, the flight deck officer rating is also available to the co-pilot or navigator.

It just won't go well. Disagree on the no training. It seems like a pretty decent training program. Now back in 2008 one piloy had a little problem stowing his guyn and there was an accidental misfire, but no one was hurt and the plane returned safely.
  6. my oh my children, kindergarten is the place for this
  7. could not resist the salmon, asparagus, and jasmine rice we prepared tonight. Now onto the full moon event at our local wold birding sanctuary
  8. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 21, 2010 -> 05:20 PM) Not at all. Is a pilot an air marshall? The intent is not for the pilot to enter the cabin and act in that capacity. The intent of the program is the final chance that a planeload of passengers may have against a terrorist attack. If the terrorists breech the cabin door, is it in the passengers' best interest to have an armed or unarmed pilot? I don't see how any conclusion other than armed could be reached.
  9. Future historians will ponder the value of this thread and why there are so many posts.
  10. f***, or maybe Obama didn't. I can't find much info on the program, other than TSA seems to oppose it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Flight_Deck_Officer
  11. oops, Obama may have ended the Federal Flight Deck Officers Program, which leads me to wonder, are pilots more of a potential problem, or an ally, in our fight for absolute safety on airplanes?
  12. Another alaphabetical round begins!
  13. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 21, 2010 -> 12:48 PM) Not the point. Obviously they could do something like that without a weapon... if they were the only one in the cockpit. But with a weapon, they can been the co-pilot out of the game. But security access isn't just to the plane, its to the whole airport. Just seems like they are attempting to close one hole, and opening up another. Are you aware that pilots are legally allowed to carry guns in the cockpit after completing an on-line training program?
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 20, 2010 -> 05:27 PM) But it is nice to know that guys have their prince's straight Which one is straight?
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 21, 2010 -> 08:37 AM) Yes Terrorists and drug smugglers have used children, even infants. Everyone must be searched, or else we will not be safe.
  16. Quickly coming up on Christmas, I am starting my shopping.
  17. How many poeple here will read more of this thread than Dubya's book? This guy!
  18. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 20, 2010 -> 05:18 PM) via I believe any liquids in a colostomy bag should be checked amd verified as urine. What if they are explosives? We've got to be safe. If terrorists know all they have to do is tape a bag to their gut to get dangerous liquids through the screener, they will.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 20, 2010 -> 01:54 AM) There's a reason you get DFA'd by the Pittsburgh Pirates. The reason is you suck more than the rest of their roster which still has plenty of suck to go around. Zach Duke sucks, and really has sucked for about 5 years now. /thread
  20. QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Nov 19, 2010 -> 04:35 PM) I think the whole thing is ridiculous. I understand that people say "yes, but he's worth it to the Yankees as the captain/face of the franchise/only team he's ever played for" stuff. But either MLB is a market economy or it's not. There is no reason the Yankees should have to pay Jeter a dime more than the next biggest offer from another team. His market value is (or should be) his market value- that is the whole point of free agency. Are you suggesting that players are worth the same regardless of city? And as soon as other factors are tossed in, on both sides, the dollar values change. Take something as easy as state income taxes. Playing half of your games in Texs, without a state income tax is worth something to a player. Living in New York, with it's cost of living, is different than living in Minneapolis with theirs. Then the marketing department gets involved. Some players will sell more tickets in one city than another.

So I've been tossing in some low ball bids on trucks. I was more than a little surprised when one of the dealers gives me a call. I explained how I really wasn't a serious buyer right now, and was checking the market and getting an idea of prices, but if a real bargain fell in my lap, I would write the check. His reply? "So you are just screwing around with these bids? Do you really think you would get a $25,000 truck for $15,000? Why are you wasting people's time?" "Ah, why are you starting the bidding at $100 with a reserve for people to guess? Why are you wasting my time? If you start your bidding at the price you are willing to sell it at, then I won't bother looking." I respect the hell out of salespeople, I was one for many years, but honestly, some car salespeople are such dicks.
  22. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Nov 19, 2010 -> 06:28 PM) The minute I see England end its occupation of Ireland is the minute I take anything they say seriously on how another country should act or on what are would be war crimes. We could loan them our Declaration of Indepedence. You combine that with a gay German officer and the French navy and England is toast.
