Snowblowers
I have an outdoor temperature that rarely drops below 50, and a 100 year history of less than a dozen major snowfalls. When it snows, and it did a Christmas Day many years ago, we shut everything down, and stare at it until it melts.

An Open Letter
Dear idiot, smug, condescending, snarky, mocking, kid in my last class, I was laughing with you because I just added the fifth item to your discipline pyramid. You will not be attending the pep rally or the Christmas Party. You are also one step closer to 30 days at the alternative school. I am still laughing because you have no idea what is about to fall down around your ears. Signed, Your dedicated Teacher

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 30, 2010 -> 07:36 PM) Dear Tex, We have specific enclosed areas for carts, which seems much smarter than your method. With love, Milkman Dear Nyx, What word is that? Inquisitively, Milkman Dear Milkman, I see those corrals, and I see carts left between cars. I wish more people used them.

California to vote on full legalization of marijuana
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 30, 2010 -> 04:02 PM) I was against it only because it was limited to medical marijuana. Should be fully legal. Absolutely stupid that in 2010 it's not. With the legal limits for drunk driving getting lower and lower and the places to legally smoke cigarettes getting fewer and fewer, the climate just isn't there for adding another intoxicating, burning, product to the mix.

Boras company tied to lending money to prospects
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 30, 2010 -> 07:16 PM) The problem comes from taking advantage of people by flashing money in their face and then getting them hooked into your services long term. And what does an agent do later? Promise big bucks and hook them into your service long term.

Icees are awesome- An Open Letter
Dear driving the wrong way in the parking lot idiot, See the bright yellow arrows painted on the pavement? See all the cars facing towards you? See me trying to get down the aisle? No f***ing way I'm backing up for your dumb ass. And while we're having this parking lot discussion, why are you pulling all the way through so you can take 15 minutes pulling forward and back to get out? You could have just parked regular. Oops, one more, and probably unique to the Rio Grande Valley. Yes, we place our shopping carts behind other cars after unloading. I know it isn't what you do "up north". Up north you jam them alongside cars, scrapping paint and making it a pain in the ass for the cart movers. By placing them behind the parked cars, the cart movers just sweep straight down and carts aren't banging into my door. It is a better system, so deal with it Winter Texan. Signed, Long day and grocery shopping with morons.- Boras company tied to lending money to prospects
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 29, 2010 -> 10:34 AM) I'm not as angry about this as Tex seems to be, but I really don't see a big problem with this. It might have its disadvantages, but I'm thinking overall that it is probably a good thing for the players. In regards to that specific story about Salcedo, it says he was tendered a $1.6 million contract. If you owe somebody money and you come into $1.6 million, people are going to come back expecting to be repaid and Salcedo would be a huge jagoff to not honor his debt. I doubt Boras is hounding the guy who borrowed $5,000 and never received a contract from anyone. I'm not angry at all. IO don't have a problem at all with what he's doing. The palyer's union allows loans up to $500. So the issue becomes why they allow $500 but not $5,000 or $50,000. Boras, instead of waiting until the guys are signing ready, then swooping in to grab a paycheck, is putting some cash up front with these guys. And yes, he expects to be their agent when they sign a deal. And yes, he expect to be repaid. I agree, I doubt he's chasing down guys for $5,000 who never sign. That's the cost of doing business.- Quietly so no one sees . . .
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 29, 2010 -> 09:22 PM) X-rays will only counteract it. Yesterday was a great office visit with my Doctor. The EKG did not reveal any signs of my earlier problem.- Runners Thread
QUOTE (SuperSteve @ Nov 28, 2010 -> 12:33 PM) I wouldn't wait until your weight loss levels off. I would supplement your weight loss with a run/walk program. I think if you can even get fifteen minutes of running and walking a day in, you're find you have more energy and you'll crave healthier foods. That would help to magnify your weight loss. Why wait? I didn't, and it was very depressing how out of running shape I am. Basically at a slightly less than comfortable pace, I managed a half mile jog (how I hate that term), half mile walk, half mile jog. Beginning and ending with a 10 minute walk. I checked out Runner's World's website and started piecing together a beginner program. Basically their program recommends 40 minutes three times a week. The middle half hour is a combination of running and walking with a switch over ten weeks from 75% walking to 100% running.- TSA - Going too Far?
QUOTE (mr_genius @ Nov 29, 2010 -> 08:48 PM) haha Damn, blocked at work- Boras company tied to lending money to prospects
QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 28, 2010 -> 08:45 PM) Yes Tex, it's a pretty blatant conflict of interest Yeah, Boras has to make certain his client gets a contract, what a terrible conflict for an agent to have. What if staying in the DR and working at a hotel would be better for the kid than coming to America and playing minor league ball. The kid has to work hard to be major league ready, what a terrible conflict of interest to have. Maybe it is in the kid's best interest to just get a regular job instead of signing a minor league contract. Those poor kids and their families getting money upfront from an agent. Agents should wait until they are getting paid to pay any attention to these kids. Damn agent making an investment in some kid at an early age. Terrible, just terrible. f*** these kids until they can afford an agent. Then have the agents swoop in to collect. That's the American way!- White Sox offer arbitration to Konerko, Putz.
I'll wait and see who we have starting. But I'm guessing we're going to take a step down at this position, but the club will make more money. 04:07 PM:name=Kenny Hates Prospects)--> QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 04:07 PM) Yeah because overpaying by $1-2M on a one-year deal in order to put something legitimate behind the plate during the last season Mark Buehrle and Edwin Jackson have on their contracts is really atrocious. Jesus Christ.- Sox claim P Waldis Joaquin off of waivers from SF
QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Nov 28, 2010 -> 01:18 PM) Anybody want to buy a Joaquin jersey for cheap? I made a horrible mistake...- Boras company tied to lending money to prospects
I think we can also see where loaning people money who can't get a loan through regular channels may be a good thing. The only difference here is the expectation of getting paid back. Waitm that's something people usually expect when they loan someone money. The expectation is Boras will be the kid's agent. If the kid never signs a pro contract, he probably would never have the resources to pay him back. So the kid happens to owe one of the biggest sports agents money. I wonder how hard that agent will work for his client? Are we worried that Boras has a conflict of interest?- Yankees to offer 3 years $45 million to Jeter
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 27, 2010 -> 11:49 AM) If I were Boston, I'd think the spite press would be worth 3/$50 or 4/$60 to me. I don't believe there would be much spite press there. Not like when the Red Sox could not make a deal for A-Rod and the Yankees swooped in. It has to be someone the Yankees really want. - Gender Identity
