  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 04:38 PM) Not to speak ill of the dead, but she has come off as having quite a few issues of her own from what I have read. Not necessarily just the victim most people think. I am certain she was human and had a few issues of her own. Some of her own making. No one is ever that one sides.
  2. Having to live a private life out in the public must be so difficult, she seemed to manage it with a lot more class and grace than most.
  3. I forgot, how was it the Soviet Union collapsed again? Wasn't it something about spending themselves into oblivion and not having the cashflow to support it?
  4. Do we ever look for flexibility to sign an established player for a big contract? Or is the flexibility always to sign more cheap guys and hope they have great seasons?
  5. And what about taking 2% of individual's contributions out of social security? Nothing like having the average wage earner contribute less to their retirement. That doesn't save me any money, I am in a state pension instead.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 09:40 AM) In all seriousness, I have probably turned in 10 times that over the year and a half I have been out. I have gotten about three interviews, though one of them might be generating another chance, as the person who was hired for the position was already promoted, and I talked to the VP who interviewed me and he wants me to come back in again. I hope that comes through for you. This is also where people say become a migrant farm worker, landscapper, yardman, dishwasher, or a cutter in a meat processing plant. As if that is an option for the majority of people who are out of work. There are so many people out of work that can't relocate or have family commitments where it is cheaper for them to be off work than take a $6 per hour job.
  7. Overall it must be great news, Social Security is on such solid ground we can cut the money coming in. Plus we can borrow more money from China to keep government spending at such a high level. While we are pissing away our children's future, why not borrow an extra $20,000 per person and send us a big check. Cut the f***ing spending or raise the taxes but don't cut income and increase spending.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 01:02 PM) Actually, he's probably involved somehow in the tax cut negotiation meetings in the Senate, since he might well wind up a deciding vote. Gee, are we unsure which way he will vote?
  9. Always nice to get a toaster
  10. Y'all got your Christmas shopping done?
  11. The second in line to the Presidency has no public appointments listed in his schedule today. Where the hell is the press coverage?
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 01:46 PM) It is pretty bad that we give illegals more rights in this country than we do gay people. Non citizens are allowed to join the military, and if killed while serving, are automtically given US citizenship. So I can kindof see where SS is going with that.
  13. This is why kids in the DR will gladly accept a $50,000 loan from Boras with the understanding he will represent them later. I am certain another agent could have gotten him a nice 5 year $60mil contract or even a nice four year deal.
  14. Tonight I will go to bed early, tomorrow will be a long, and boring, day of standardized test taking, and administering.
  15. With as important as the VP is, I am surprised that we haven't found more to discuss.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 08:52 PM) And that should have been JR did with them... Yeah, I got that. That got me to thinking, and perhaps it warrants its own thread, but unlike many owners, JR doesn't really seem to get too involved in stuff he hires people to do.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 08:45 PM) Exactly. It is the same thing that Frank did with Scottie, Michael, and Frank. And as usual with baseball, I like your thinking.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 04:13 PM) More like, what does it take to get you back, today. But then we are back to the $X is too much. Unless you are saying that JR would allow the budget to be stretched to fit in PK, which could be a possibility.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 03:56 PM) This seems like a situation where JR would call Konerko personally. I believe you are correct, but what is he going to say? "We want you as our second or third option, and at a cheao price, but if it doesn't work out, don't go to the Cubs? Seems kind of crazy
  20. very good point, I will stop multiple alpha posts, but I would like to be known as the pioneer of this innovative strategy
  21. Good time to trade him for a few prospects who would all earn minimums. A couple left handed hitters, maybe a first baseman.
  22. How excited would Sox fans be to enter 2011 with Adam LaRoche as our new 1st baseman?
  23. Lucky My Next atempt to post will be Organized in a way that I can purge any wrong posts quickly.
