  1. Jim's vacation photos are cool.
  2. IIRC the flexspending plans were put in place to help with medical costs. The threshhold for deductions has been so high that most people never reached it. The paperwork has been zero for me with my plan. By using certain vendors (Walgreens, Walmart, a local medical supply company, my Doc) I have never needed to submit any documentation. Spending pre tax money is always better than taxed income. I wrote to my Senators, Congressman, and the White House. I'll share any responses. It will be from 2 ®s and 2 (D)s Finally, it's the slippery slope argument.
  3. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Oct 27, 2010 -> 06:50 AM) TEx, enlighten me. I didn't see anywhere in what you posted where this change is something that was asked for or done by the insurance companies. So if this was brought about because of the Dems, why is it wrong for the companies, who already face criticism every time things change, to point out 'hey, this time it isn't us, it is them!'? The same way it is wrong in my eyes for Unions, for example, to blame stuff on the GOP. The Legistlative branch passed this and the Executive branch signed it. This is all part of the finger pointing that hurts out country. We have reached a point that Dems want GOP policies to fail so we they can say "told you so" and Reps want Dem policies to fail so they can say I told you so. Sad that at any time half the country wants to go down the toilet as if it is the same as a football team losing. Also, in this case, are you certain the Dems wanted this provision changed, or was it the GOP? We really don't know, but it sure is easy for the insurance company to take a shot.
  4. At my school everyone is in costume on Friday. I will not be in a costume, instead I will be in correct Native American medicine man regalia.
  5. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Oct 26, 2010 -> 07:18 PM) Yea. And your point? It was a throw in, and it was lobbied for so that they could start the process of doing away with tax free medicines, i.e. they collect the tax revenues on this - welcome to yet another tax in this bill going up. It was a plank to "raise money", yet another misnomer and lie perpetrated by the whole damn sham called "health care reform". The difference is paying for it with pre tax or post tax income. I feel the same way about insurance companies taking gratitudes shots at one political party, the same way I feel about unions doing it, which is it is basically wrong. But I can see where some people will agree with the insurance companies and attack the unions.
  6. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Oct 26, 2010 -> 07:12 PM) WTF is the last part of your post? You think the insurance company made these rules? And I don't want to hear that they lobbied for this. No, they didn't, because they lose money on this. Big money. Don't make this partisan other then the assholes who voted this crap in ... and I do believe the majority party who set the agenda on this is Democrats. I meant this by the insurance company.
  7. For those of us with Flexible Spending Accounts for health care expenses, I just came across this which makes me a little unhappy. Time to write to my elected leaders. OTC drugs should be covered or else patients will begin pestering Socs into writing scrips for this stuff. BTW, is there any doubt that the insurance industry is doing anything they can to slam the Dems?
  8. unbelievable, some of my students are just unbelievable, and not in a good way.
  9. Can't wait to see what you post for X
  10. And once again Balta forgets the order
  11. Zealand would be older than New Zealand, yet I cannot find it on a map.
  12. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Oct 25, 2010 -> 02:20 PM) Thanks for the replies, everyone. I also stopped and spoke to two tattoo artists at two different shops and they told me not to worry about anything, either. Also, I might consider going the "flu shot on the ass" route if the girl giving the shot is hot. And this time when I say "hot", I mean the type of girl I consider to be hot. You may also want to ask the nurse or a Doc about it. Does anyone know if veins move? A "stick needle here" tat might be kind of funny.
  13. useless to resist. It's the offseason, and until some trades and stuff happens, this is about it.
  14. The issue is probably more will the tat obscure any redness that would normally be visible at the injection site. One of the ways they can tell if you are having a reaction to the shot is redness around the injection site.
  15. knowledge of the alphabet is not needed to be a professor
  16. in case you wanted to know, the fruit versus veggie had to do with taxes. The country wanted to tax tomotos as veggies, the seller wanted it tax free as a fruit
  17. TEX Rangers in 6 The last time a Texas team was in the World Series, I really couldn't cheer for them
  18. y'all is so much more useful than use guys
  19. We just never know what we will learn when we log on.
  20. Up was not a horror moviem but check out Knight's list for soxtalk's top 40 horror movies of all time.
  21. Character, Party, Resume Their individual policy views and meaningless until they achieve some sort of leadership position. It's gonna be the party. In the senate I am much more willing to vote GOP because of the nature of the debate than in the House.
  22. I am at least starting to have some respect for the groups like the Swift Boat guys who at least identified themselves and made their accusations. Of course it is easy enough to assume that whomever is paying for the ads has a biased agenda.
  23. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 11:31 PM) I'm going to do 4 or 5 a night for 10 days. Hopefully, ending on Halloween. Very nice touch my hat is off to you I'd be interested in reading from those that like the genre, what makes a great horror movie? The scared teenagers getting slashed just doesn't seem that difficult of a genre, perhaps that's why we have all the copy cat stuff. It seems that horror and comedies just never receive any respect.
  24. I was in San Antonio this weekend and could not stand the ads. The b.s. that is tossed around is just embarrassing. And yes, it is from both sides. And I've sent letters to a couple campaigns telling them how insulted I was about their ads, but I assume they just figure I wasn't going to vote for their candidate anyways. Which is somewhat true. NPR just did this story yesterday and highlighted the "cookie cutter" ads that both sides are using. I believe when a campaign makes a false statement like that they should be liable to run and pay for an equal number of ads setting the record straight.
  25. Maybe they will understand I am serious. I wish I could just ban them, but I don't have mod powers at school
