QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 13, 2010 -> 04:13 PM) But there is a minimum. For example, people who have mental illness and cant' take of themselves don't pay a dime in and draw a lifetime of benefits. There is a minimum benefit that gets paid no matter how much is paid in. If you grant amnesty, there are going to be people who will be eligible to draw SSI, who may never have paid in because of their status as an illegal. Is there a proposal somewhere to change the vesting requirements for SS? As it is now, you have to have 40 quarters of contributions to qualify. The Social Security website http://ssa-custhelp.ssa.gov/app/answers/de...vbll6cHFyN2s%3D offered this If your example is correct, wouldn't teachers, who never paid in, receive benefits? Clergy? This would mean a "stay at home mom" at the age of 65 work a year and receive benefits? Or a teacher could work 40 years paying into their retirement, retire, than work a few months or year and receive benefits? If that is true, it should be changed.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 09:19 AM) The standing O he got as he walked out was amazing. And by the bullpen he looked legitimately shocked people knew his name and were cheering him on. Fans were trying to help the kid as much as humanly possible. After each inning, fans behind the dugout were standing a cheering. The ovation after the third was as genuine as I've ever heard for a player. When Lucas came into the dugout after the sixth I thought he was going to have to make a curtain call. Special stuff. Sad that no matter what he did, he was going back down.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 09:46 AM) If you searched the database, how many COOP WILL FIX HIM posts have there been since they days of Loiaza and Marte? I would guess hundreds, if not thousands... You have to subtract a lot of those which were posted in green, and still more that should have. I'd guess maybe 25% were serious, if that. "Coop will fix him" has become a cliche'

Hairbanger's Ball at Gate 4 before the game, great game, awesome fireworks show after the game. Scary park and ride at the Howard Street red line station. Perfect evening.

I was watching his pitch count and thinking he wasn't going to go four. Once he settled down a bit, things got to be fun. There were a couple heart stopping moments, like the warning shot out. It was nice to see the beer shower he received after the game.

BTW, this is what happens when Jas makes the posters.

It is all about alignment. You need to turn you head to the left opening up the pipe and widen your stance. It also helps if you pucker your lips and inhale slowly. This works best as long as there are other men at the urinals. or Wear dark colored pants and sit very quietly.

Taking a fan to their first game at the Cell . . .
Texsox replied to Texsox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
We should have taken the red line, we arrived a little late. The seats where fine, but it took a moment or two to get comfortable with the UD. We went down to the 100 level and visited with Steff for a few minutes. Friday we're in the 22nd row, so we are looking forward to that. We are planning on spending some time around the park before the game and taking the red line. -

I can't find the thread but I know we have someone who works for one of the tour companies. I will be in town Wednesday and Friday and want to take a trip. Which company was prefered and any tips?

I am not certain that civilian control really stops a military coup. While at times having a civilian making some of these decisions seems to be odd, I do appreciate that check and balance. While driving around today I'm going to be thinking about some of the decisions that Presidents have had to make and see if those Presidents with "real military experience" have done any better or worse than those without military experience. I'm not certain which group to put little Bush.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 02:10 PM) It just goes to show the gigantic role pitchers play with CS percentages. Yep. It also shows how under-rated AJ is and how much attention is played to offensive production. -

QUOTE (3E8 @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 10:15 AM) Don't sit in the upper deck Ist row UD between home and third with access to all areas. She's been to the Juicebox in Houston for an Astros game but this will be her first to the Cell. -
I have not been to the Cell in a couple seasons now, any suggestions for taking a fan to their first game at the Cell?

I just spent a week along the Natchez Trace Parkway with side trips to Vicksburg and Shiloh National Military Parks. These are all run by the National Park Service (Government employees). From the early phone calls when we began planning the trip to being on the site, customer service was first class. All the information was delivered via my very friendly and efficient postal carrier. The parks were very well maintained, the interpretive presentations were well produced and delivered. I have also recently had to contact Social Security twice on matters and both times my questions were answered quickly and completely with additional information mailed to me. I will also admit, while the IRS was shoving an audit and tax lien up my ass, they too did it in a professional and timely manner. Shall I also mention our military? While we may agree or disagree about their missions, they are the best in the world. I know it is easy to talk about how our government employees suck, but I believe they are much like the private sector. Some may be better than others, but overall, I think they do a fine job.

I've always loved the Who, so Pete and John are on the list. Eddie is hard to leave off any list. Clapton and BB are also pretty solid. Honestly, at times it is more than the sound that gets to me.

The process is simple. People complain. Mods and Admins read through the posts, and a decision is made. Usually there are mods and admins on all sides.

QUOTE (Rooftop Shots @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 09:42 PM) They also crossed my mind, but for a different reason. Would be curious as to see what ticket prices would be along with the hype. Is was about 7 or 8 years ago when The Eagles toured, a friend told me that tickets were going for $250.00. I know some Beatles freaks that would pay absolutely ANTYHING if they were to go on tour. Heck, they had a nation wide countdown just for one new song (Free As A Bird) when Anthology was shown on TV. Could you imagine what the hype would be along with how much they would gross on a world tour with a new album?? Great point, it would be interesting. I wonder if they would even really tour in the sense. I could see a month in NY, a month in London, Rio, perhaps back in the USSR, etc. The world would come to them.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 09:04 PM) Hey, it says Texas Republicans. And the fact that such a place in Texas exists baffles the mind. A Democratic Texas? All over the border region and the cities. As the GOP starts losing their more moderate members, a Dem will have a chance.
