QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 04:55 PM) IN MY DEFENSE, THEY PAID ME A LOT TO DO THAT SCENE. and you received an Oscar* for it. And a Keith
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 04:31 PM) No one is getting thrown under the bus with $60 million or so left on their deal. That was a poor example, I couldn't think of a better one to illustrate my point. But I see ptac came through, saying it better than I could.
  3. QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 11:20 AM) Even Wilson Betemit? I'd rather have seen him being considered for MVP. I always want to see the guys wearing the uniform succeed, and can't be happy when they fail. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 12:42 PM) If a guy sucks, has sucked for the last three years, then i don't give a damn what he did in 2005. It has no bearing on the present. I want to win now, i want to experience 2005 AGAIN, that's not going to happy if we keep running a "good feelings tour" out their. Nor will the long term be good if players rush rehab to help out now, and have it blow up in their face. I believe it was Ventura who worked his ass off to get back only to have the Sox toss in the white towel. Perhaps if I was Peavy, I'd be looking at Contreras being released and thinking, I better be very certain I am ready to start or they may throw me under the bus. And both ideals can be achieved by sending him to the bullpen and allowing him to finish out the contract.
  4. However, even without rum, Lovie was hot
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 03:21 PM) There is so a combination joke here that will wind this up in the Filibuster so fast... awesome catch!
  6. But when it is the car dealer offering $4,500 incentives to buyers, we yawn and walk away. Perhaps we found something the government is better at than private industry
  7. Storm waves are amazing to watch. Fortunately here there are no cliffs, just a long gradual slope to the water. RIP and prayuers to the parents who will probably blame themselves forever.

    QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 03:18 PM) That's the only reason you haven't been dinner yet. maybe not, I've had my butt in a few stews . . .
  9. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 03:31 PM) Because it comes out of their pockets and not the governments and therefore isn't advertised as heavily. I wonder if there was a net decrease in the prices consumers paid compared to a year ago or what not. No need for dealer or company incentives, so they made more, but I wonder if consumers actually paid less.
  10. We are a nation of labels and sound bytes. Slogans and catch phrases with the attention span of, well something with a short attention span.
  11. Sometimes I wonder if there is something more at work here than bad luck. Poor training, poor field conditions, schedules, etc./
  12. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 03:21 PM) Edgy is my middle name Fla is your first?
  13. I was just thinking, car dealers and manufacturers often have rebates equaling the Cash for Clunkers program. Why are those not as successful?
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 01:37 PM) Kinda like Obama's was the most liberal? great point. Has anyone seen a voting record summary when straight party line voting was taken out of the equation? So often so many of the votes are along party lines and perhaps not the best indicator. I'd like to see what they would vote if freed from party considerations.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 02:48 PM) That movie sucked. Though that Y2HH does deserve an Oscar for that performance... When they started making out, wow, I had to edit my vote in a certain soxtalk poll . . .if you know what I mean.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 02:20 PM) Can't argue that. But what I will do is crawl beneath your house, drill into the floor, use a spy pen camera to locate where your computer room is and where the wires are...drill beneath that, cut into the wire and hax you. I will then post mean things about people on Soxtalk as you, especially Lostfan. then wireless >>>>>>>>>>>> wired. And, you can even have a mix of both!

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 02:52 PM) Tex self portrait. come on Kap, we're in Texas, it's all about the beef

QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 02:18 PM) Wireless >>> wires if you can manage it, especially wireless N. I didn't have any problems at my old place since they were only like 30 feet apart, but my newer place has too many walls and floors. wire >>>>>>> wireless in this case.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 02:14 PM) They take up space and limit where and how you can place computers -- and the speed/latency isn't much different anymore. Agreed. But there are fewer strength of signal issues and security is better.

Back to home networks, sometimes wires are good, I don't know why some poeple are afraid of them.
  21. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 12:53 PM) I don't really know whats going on, but I'm going to close this thread for 15-20 minutes and than delete it. If anyone has an issue, send me a PM. Actually moving it to the how does this work, might be better. It raises the awareness of a great feature.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 01:12 PM) Somewhere between 25 and 50. How many times have you Googled yourself? once, just now, unless you have a different definition of "googling" How many times have you googled your spouse or girlfriend?
  24. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 01:03 PM) Agreed...but if there's no opportunity to learn more because they don't exist anymore, is the next best thing good enough? I don't know the answer to that. I do not see the education element with most mascots. See above.
  25. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 12:11 PM) I guess it depends on who you ask, doesn't it? Some might say it is morally offensive and is doing nothing to promote awareness. Some might say it is one of, if not the last, remaining reminder of the Illini tribe that once called Illinois home and gave it the name. Not being a Native American: I thought the Chief was about as respectful a symbol as possible considering there were no Illini tribesmen/women to take that role. Just my .02. Somewhere in the debate, IMHO, is the purpose of the mascot. I wonder if it is ever really appropriate to take someone's image and use it as a sports mascot to help your team. "I have an idea! If we dress up like Indians, we may just beat OSU!"
