  1. We are a nation of labels and sound bytes. Slogans and catch phrases with the attention span of, well something with a short attention span.
  2. Sometimes I wonder if there is something more at work here than bad luck. Poor training, poor field conditions, schedules, etc./
  3. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 03:21 PM) Edgy is my middle name Fla is your first?
  4. I was just thinking, car dealers and manufacturers often have rebates equaling the Cash for Clunkers program. Why are those not as successful?
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 01:37 PM) Kinda like Obama's was the most liberal? great point. Has anyone seen a voting record summary when straight party line voting was taken out of the equation? So often so many of the votes are along party lines and perhaps not the best indicator. I'd like to see what they would vote if freed from party considerations.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 02:48 PM) That movie sucked. Though that Y2HH does deserve an Oscar for that performance... When they started making out, wow, I had to edit my vote in a certain soxtalk poll . . .if you know what I mean.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 02:20 PM) Can't argue that. But what I will do is crawl beneath your house, drill into the floor, use a spy pen camera to locate where your computer room is and where the wires are...drill beneath that, cut into the wire and hax you. I will then post mean things about people on Soxtalk as you, especially Lostfan. then wireless >>>>>>>>>>>> wired. And, you can even have a mix of both!

QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 02:18 PM) Wireless >>> wires if you can manage it, especially wireless N. I didn't have any problems at my old place since they were only like 30 feet apart, but my newer place has too many walls and floors. wire >>>>>>> wireless in this case.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 02:14 PM) They take up space and limit where and how you can place computers -- and the speed/latency isn't much different anymore. Agreed. But there are fewer strength of signal issues and security is better.

Back to home networks, sometimes wires are good, I don't know why some poeple are afraid of them.
  12. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 12:53 PM) I don't really know whats going on, but I'm going to close this thread for 15-20 minutes and than delete it. If anyone has an issue, send me a PM. Actually moving it to the how does this work, might be better. It raises the awareness of a great feature.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 01:12 PM) Somewhere between 25 and 50. How many times have you Googled yourself? once, just now, unless you have a different definition of "googling" How many times have you googled your spouse or girlfriend?
  15. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 01:03 PM) Agreed...but if there's no opportunity to learn more because they don't exist anymore, is the next best thing good enough? I don't know the answer to that. I do not see the education element with most mascots. See above.
  16. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 12:11 PM) I guess it depends on who you ask, doesn't it? Some might say it is morally offensive and is doing nothing to promote awareness. Some might say it is one of, if not the last, remaining reminder of the Illini tribe that once called Illinois home and gave it the name. Not being a Native American: I thought the Chief was about as respectful a symbol as possible considering there were no Illini tribesmen/women to take that role. Just my .02. Somewhere in the debate, IMHO, is the purpose of the mascot. I wonder if it is ever really appropriate to take someone's image and use it as a sports mascot to help your team. "I have an idea! If we dress up like Indians, we may just beat OSU!"

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 12:14 PM) Less than 20 — they were literally the only vegetable I didn't like growing up. Now, I'm sort of itching to try them again because I think I'll really liek them, but my wife is not so sure and so they remain off the menu. How many times have you farted in a crowded elevator, accidentally or on purpose? four or five how many times have you watched a tv show to the end then realized you had watched it before?

QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 10:03 AM) 17...ouch! How many times have you been to the Urinal (not counting to see the Sox)? too many to count (over 25) How many meetings have you missed because you fgorgot to enter tyhem in your calendar? ?gotta run

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 09:31 AM) 5 How many people here turned in their clunker for cash? zero that I heard of. How many MPG does your current vehicle get?
  21. QUOTE (Pumpkin Escobar @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 09:32 AM) As long as we are doing interpretation of rules I have one for you all... My buddy and I were wondering about it during MB perfect game. We figured it'd have ruined the perfecto and made it a no-hitter but it's interesting and perhaps something to be reconsidered in baseball. Buehrle is cruisin lets say. 8 innings 24 up and 24 down. 9th inning rolls around and Sox get a pop up in foul territory, Beckham drops it. Thats an error but no runner obviously got on base. Buehrle continues on and gets the next 3 out. I presume just a no-hitter but I'd also score it a foul ball and cheat for my SP if it was a home game. What do you guys htink? 27 up, 27 down and no one reached first. Sounds like a perfect game to me. And by the way, the next time it happens, will be the first.

QUOTE (HeGone33 @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 09:28 AM) Two that I was pulled over for........ How many people will realize this thread sucks and go back to the alphabet thread? one, Jim LOL How many will participate in both and really up their post counts?
  23. Please
  24. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 09:22 AM) The guideline is about the batter. If the batter gets out as the third out, then it doesn't matter, no runs score. But once the batter is out OR has reached safely, then its all about timing and the ball in play. Right, if he is out trying to stretch a single into a double, then it is about timing.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 09:07 AM) Less than 3 times. How many times have you *ahem* in the past week? *ahem* times, wait, plus one ahh How many times have you rolled through a stop sign?
