US Sen Ted Stevens indicted on 7 counts
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Nov 5, 2008 -> 08:31 AM) no more so that the state that elected a dead guy or Louisanna reelecting freezer-cash guy. "Everybody is a crook except our guy" seems to be popular among states, as long as thier guy brings home the bacon. That was the yardstick. How much do we send to Washington? How much do we receive back?

Next minority to become Pres.
Female, although they are a majority. So perhaps we should call it the next barrier to fall.

Thank You John McCain.
QUOTE (Soxy @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 10:45 PM) First time I got misty eyed tonight was reading excerpts from McCain's concession. Classy. It was incredible live. He hushed the crowd quickly when they bood Obama or showed any lack of class. He is a great American and it is obvious he loves America.

Thank You John McCain.
QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 10:40 PM) Agreed. It's funny because I voted for him in the primary and still went with Obama in the election. I wonder how big of a detriment Palin was to his bid. The economy and Dubya's dismal 6 years doomed him. I believe any major Dem nominee wins tonight.

Congressional Elections Results Thread
Well Texas is sending Cornyn back to Washington. Noriega looked goofy, I really believe his looks doomed him. Sad but true

Thank You John McCain.
Jos concession speech was one of the greatest political speeches I have heard in a long time. In my lifetime he is easily the best of the runner ups. I've said from the beginning we had two great choices and his speech spoke volumes about his character.

Why Obama?
First off, the economy. When the economy is bad, the in party is booted out. We elected a an amazingly craptastic President in Bush that made anyone look Presidential. McCain was Bob Dole. The party owed him, but his moment was 2000. We should have seen this, society finally advanced to the point we could convict OJ, so electing Obama was a snap. Congratulations. I'm excited, I think Obama has a tremendous upside potential and pray he reaches it.

ELECTION NIGHT RESULTS
QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 05:55 PM) Whatever happens guys its been an interesting ride debating you on a consistent basis and weve got a very knowledgeable group of posters here on both sides. Hopefully, whatever happens is best for the country. I truly believe either one will do fine. I also believe the genious of our government is we can withstand the biggest idiot in the biggest office and be just fine.

Black Panthers + Night Sticks = Voter Intimidation
That is wrong in every way, and IMHO Obama would be among the first to condemn the tactics.

Jeter worst defensive IF in baseball
Yep, if baseball ever went to a platoon system, like football, he'd probably never play the field.

Your Mood Today
I'll admit, I'm excited. First time since Clinton 1.

My idea to revamp political campaigns
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 10:03 AM) Well that and their policy are out of touch with the majority of the political world. fixed. Too many of these candidates are one-issue myopic and just can not put together a plan in the areas that most of America is also concerned about.

AFTER You Vote, Come Here
I waffled a few times in voting this time. I literally selected McCain and Obama at different times before pushing the bright VOTE button. I really liked both candidates and wish I could have split my vote 51-49 or some such nonsense. Like many are reporting, as usual we did not have any Republicans running for 95% of the offices here. With a self declared DEM population of roughly 90%, it just isn't worth it. After voting ® Cornyn last time, I switched to (D) Noriega for Senator. I also proudly cast a ballot for my Congressman (D) Hinojosa. Damn fine gentleman who really works hard for South Texas. He has a s***ty, gerrymandered, district (thank you Hammer) and does pretty damn good with it. For those familar with Texas, his district runs from the Mexico border to north of Victoria. About 25 miles wide and 200 miles long. They sliced up South Texas like fajitas. I am excited to see what Obama will do if elected, and have confidence in McCain. Basically, like many players, I believe Obama has the bigger upside, but also the potential to be a bust. I see McCain as the safe pick, an aging veteran who will keep a steady, albeit, unspectacular hand at the wheel.

My favorite thing to do today
Unsubscribe from Obama's, McCain's, and every PAC's emails and alerts.

Why is Greg Walker coming back?
As long as we continue to draft and develop power pull hitters, he's probably fine. I'd like to see a more rounded approach throughout the system. But I've almost given up on seeing that. Like Pulford, he continues to be here and why, I just don't know. Amazing.

The last group to get PC Protection
Basically almost every group in America now get shielded from comments and jokes and etc. They receive what I'm going to call Politically Correct Protection. Currently, I'm thinking the last groups to get this protection are Mexicans, French, and White Conservative Males (thanks to a couple friends for extending my list) My prediction is the last person in America to be left out of the PC umbrella will be my buddy AlphaDog. The middle class, white, suburban, conservative, male with zero Democrat leanings. He'll be a Letterman punchline for a long time. I was going to say Rush, but he has that great drug addiction to help him out. Nuke, where is he, has the whole Veteran thing that is now in fashion. PA had a chance, and he may still win. We'll have to see how religion plays out. And the media guys will always take care of their own. And who put the P in PC? We know it will not be a politician. So that leaves Alpha. Sorry Bud. Good luck. What say you America?

PA's voting Obama. I am certain of it.

My idea to revamp political campaigns
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 2, 2008 -> 03:09 PM) Why is just saying something is "Federalist" still a reasonable counterpoint? I really don't care how federalist the system is, right now the only ones who benefit from our current setup are the people who make money off of registrations and the people who benefit from stopping folks from voting. I believe I agree with your over all theme, and I agree quite a bit with SS response. If your theme is "why do we have to stay anchored to the Constitution, etc. I agree. I think after 225 years, we probably have some room to improve over what the framers had in mind. They could not imagine someone in Philadelphia speaking instantly with someone in New York. I agree with SS specific, I favor states handling this. I like to idea of United States.

Guess which candidate has family members living in the US illegally
QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Nov 1, 2008 -> 07:36 PM) About what I expected, a family member of Obamas is here illegally, violates election rules and is living in government assisted housing and whoever leaked the info was at fault. Two wrongs don't make a right, but three wrongs will make a right turn. D'Oh of course we will give up any right to privacy as long as we can nail a couple of criminals.

Guess which candidate has family members living in the US illegally
Obama thinks so much of his aunt he allows her to live in public housing and never visits her? It's like he hardly knows her. Shameful. If this was McCain, he probably would just give her one of his seven houses. McCain understands family. Who do you want as President?

Professors and Office Hours
QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 31, 2008 -> 03:23 PM) If they show up with the aforementioned Guinness, then yes absolutely. Seriously, I'm more along the lines of Tex's prof - the grade you're going to get from me is the grade you earned. Percentage-wise, you've got to be within a percentage point of making a grade before I'll even consider a bump. And you're only going to get that bump if you haven't been a paon in my arse all semester. I sound like a ton of fun, don't I? Do you ever look at the grade distribution in making that determination? What I thought was compelling, beyond the really good tequila, was I earned the second highest total out of 90 students that started. (He posted accumulative points via student ID.) I figured two students should have gotten A's, the rest deserved what they got
