Organizational Goal
A post got me to thinking. In my organization, supervisors have an obligation to help every employee to be promoted. Even if this happens to be detrimental to a specific location when someone moves. Should the White Sox, as an organization, have as a goal, every player reaching the 25 man roster, even if it is with another team? I hate to use this example in fear of this getting thread jacked, but it's the best I have as I sit here. IF Crede was resigned to say a 5 year deal, should the Sox feel a moral or ethical calling to trade Fields to where he would have a true MLB roster shot?

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Oct 21, 2008 -> 09:23 AM) Yes I know I'm ridicously early, but hell I never celebrate Halloween down under, and I'm trying to figure out what a good costume to wear would be for this year. Any ideas? I'd avoid any cliches like Crocodile Dundee. How about one of the baseball gang members from Warriors? Has a nice New York tie in.- Alpha Dog Appeal Turned Down
Link And yes, the story isn't that important, I just loved the headline potential- The Economy, stupid
I was in a waiting room this morning and only saw the scrolling, is Dubya considering another round of free money to stimulate the economy?- Still a PTBNL hanging?
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 21, 2008 -> 08:41 AM) Or the guy who was traded for a PTBNL, then after the season, he went back to the original team AS the PTBNL. He was traded for himself. I forgot about that guy. Priceless. Henry Chiati I believe was his name.- Still a PTBNL hanging?
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 02:38 PM) It may already have been, it's such an unimportant deal that it probably won't even be reported. Some nothing minor leaguer of ours will show up in the Pirates system next year. I remember reading a story about a player who was the ptbnl in three deals. It was hilarious. I wish I had saved it.- ACORN, Voter Registration and Voter Fraud.
QUOTE (mreye @ Oct 21, 2008 -> 08:13 AM) I don't like these registration drives by third parties. You should only be able to register at a government entity - state building, county courthouse, DMV, etc. It opens it up to too many questions. I wouldn't have a problem with a third party like ACORN renting a bus and driving these people to a place to get registered. Who knows if actual election fraud is behind this or if it really was people that were too shy to talk to others. And will they know the true answer before the election and will the electorate be happy with the result of the investigation, regardless of the victor? See? Too many questions. I was agreeing with you all the way, then we got to the conclusion and it feels wrong to me. It takes the process another step towards the parties and away from the people and that just isn't a goal I can support. This isn't perfect by any stretch but I would like to see neighbors registering neighbors. Community groups getting involved, etc.- ACORN, Voter Registration and Voter Fraud.
Allow me to translate since the usual translator is away: Next chance I get, I'm going to register AlphaDog and AHB in Texas Seriously, the process sucks when we have these voter drives, no matter how clean you try and make them. Partisan drives in the past have caused these laws to be written where ever registration is turned in.- Sox Hockey Jerseys
They will die like all fashions, people tire of them. They move onto something else. For example, people will always wear pants, and these were really comfortable, and showed your support of your team, yet I haven't seen anyone wearing them in a long time. At some point people will get tired of dressing on Tuesday like their heroes dress on Sunday. But hey, I could be wrong. Jerseys may be the only fashion trend that is forever. I can't name another one, can anyone? The best I can come up with are blue jeans. But the styles have changed a lot. High wasted bell bottoms are hard to find. But for now jerseys are pretty cool, and I really like the cross sport, like a Sox hockey jersey. Although, IMNSHO the regular Blackhawks is the coolest jersey in all sports.- Soxtalk Quotations Of 2008
From the (color)-out Game thread QUOTE (The Critic @ Oct 18, 2008 -> 09:24 AM) A better version of this joke follows: The Cubs could have a Blue-Out Day because the Dodgers blew them out 3 times in a row.- (Color)-Out Games

QUOTE (Felix @ Oct 17, 2008 -> 11:49 PM) Penn State did a white out years ago for a game against Ohio State, and have continued with it for other games. It looks awesome. That looks like the Republican National Convention It does look pretty cool, no matter the color.- Democratic hate and anger
Imagine the fun if ACORN could decide who is real and which are frauds. Start bouncing them Republicans and keeping the fraud and Dems That's what we want- Democratic hate and anger
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 11:59 AM) Sure, they are forced to submit them. but to hold onto them until youget a few thousand, and then into those insert the ones you know are fake but otherwise have regular names, and it is easy to get a bunch to slip thru. if the people are busy looking for Donald Duck, they are going to miss John Jones. That's why the woman in Ohio waited to turn in over 200,000 registrations at one time, to hide the ones they really want to hide. Because the checking process is different based on how many get turned in. Pretty damn sneaky. Or maybe wait for someone to turn in 200,000, then sneak in your little fraud list while everyone is busy on that big list.- Election Supporters and Crap
Let's think why people are volunteering. I know of people helping out on campaigns because Their Pol Sci 101 Prof offered 5 points extra credit There was a cute guy that asked There was a cute girl that asked Believe they should "be involved" Political ideology When someone then does something really stupid, is it really fair to blame the candidate? They each have tens of thousands of volunteers, mostly faceless and nameless. If y'all really want to try and make a judgment call about the candidate because some moron with a clipboard and an campaign button does something beyond idiot level, suit yourself, but I hope most people can get past the b.s. and really look objectively between the two candidates, and vote for the person they believe is the best for America between 2009 and 2013. We actually have a pretty damn good choice this time between two damn fine Americans. I'd be proud to vote FOR either one. For once this shouldn't be about plugging your nose and voting for the lesser of two evils.- 2008 World Series - Philadelphia Phillies vs. Tampa Bay Rays
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 10:03 AM) Have either of those two won a World Series? I was originally going to root for the Rays (to have another team win it all before the Cubs), but it'd be hard to root against two guys that have been around that long. Damn good reason to cheer for the Rays. I usually follow this heirarchy Sox > Al Central > AL Pennant Winner. About the only NL teams I may pick over any other AL team would be the Astros or Cardinals.- 2008 vs. 2000
I was so disappointed in 2000, this year I thought it was a successful, fun season. I believe the biggest difference between the two seasons was 2005. In 2000 I thought that could be the last chance for me to see a Sox World Series in my lifetime.- Democratic hate and anger
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 10:19 AM) but hopefully that is true. That I haven't posted? I was just thinking, when we had two pretty s***ty choices, like the last election, when the debate and conversation got to the stupid petty level, no big deal because quite frankly that's probably all they had. But this time I think we have two pretty damn good candidates once the b.s. is cleared away. But all we seem to know is dealing with piss poor candidates and we're back to crap discussions. (and I miss this in a broad sense, not just Soxtalk)- Democratic hate and anger
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 10:45 AM) Interestingly he's gone FAR beyond anything I've done and I've toned it down in the last month. Then I do apologize, you chased me out of these discussions weeks ago and I hardly ever read a thread in the 'buster.- OK...so who's worth more...
QUOTE (almagest @ Oct 17, 2008 -> 01:12 PM) Who cares? He "dogs" it at a hall-of-fame caliber. I don't care if he takes a dump in the outfield every game if he posts a .900+ OPS, which he's done pretty much every year of his career. I really just can't understand the Manny Ramirez hatred going on in this thread. I guess I believe you can take one without hating the other- Sox Hockey Jerseys
QUOTE (The Critic @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 09:20 AM) I commented on the jersey because I like wearing jerseys. That's what the thread was about. And my comment was enjoy them now because when you get older, most of the time, they are going to look silly. But my opinion was changed and I acknowledge when that happens. There are guys in their late twenties, thirties, and older that can wear them most of the time. They can wear them to work, out to dinner at their usual restaurants, when they are hanging out at the sports bar on a Wednesday night for Hump Day, watching Sports Center at home, you know, most of the time.- Sox Hockey Jerseys
QUOTE (The Critic @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 08:08 AM) I'm not trying to change your mind. I just don't know why it matters to you what someone else chooses to wear. I'm not certain why someone cares what I think about what they wear, but that seems to be the thread Why else post a picture of a new outfit? You thought enough to criticize the bottom.- Sox Hockey Jerseys
QUOTE (The Critic @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 07:16 AM) That's not where this started. It started with you saying you think it looks stupid. So the discussion is about what others think at some level. My respect for my mother isn't based on wardrobe, never has been. You are forgetting I added MOST OF THE TIME. But of course some people do not understand what that actually means or did not read that. And respect was a very poor choice in my post. But I am certain y'all would think it was cool that mom is still wearing a mini skirt and halter and dad wears platform shoes with that leisure suit and getting his hair permed. Fashions change, and as they do, stuff starts looking silly. The jersey fashion will go away, as has every other fashion throughout history. But I will admit I was wrong. Y'all have convinced me there are guys over 25 with lifestyles where they can wear jerseys most of the time and not look silly. They can wear them to work, out to dinner, on dates, etc. and they look great.- Democratic hate and anger
