John Edwards Confirms Affair
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 02:20 PM) Sure, take a Democratic scandal and make sure to get in all the Republicans you can name in the article, including McCain, and then show how great Obama is at the end. A wonderful way to twist this into something positive for Obama, when it has nothing to do with Obama. Or McCain. It seems fair to write what pigs we've elected and showing that it doesn't matter which side of the aisle they caucus. This is both a Dem and GOP issue. If this was an article on philanthropy and only Dems were mentioned, conservatives would be screaming that there was bias and they should have been mentioned.

Policy Initiatives for Rising Gas Costs
Excellent point regarding taxing after the fact. To add, it basically is a tax on consumers because the oil companies will just pass it on, they always do. So we have yet another Robin Hood government program. I also really, really, dislike the government running a deficit *and* paying Americans. It really reeks during an election year. Vote for me and I'll give you $1,000!! I'd feel better if it was his own money and not mine.

Policy Initiatives for Rising Gas Costs
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 02:30 PM) so, I attack McCain... get attacked. Promote Obama... get attacked. WOW! Ok, let's talk about Obama's plan to offer a $1000 stimulus package to Middle and lower class Americans by using a windfall profits tax on Oil profits. While McCain pushes a lame $30 gas tax holiday, Obama is pushing a $1000 check. OK Let's talk about it! With record annual deficits and a record federal deficit, shouldn't a windfall profits tax be used to pay down the national debt? Perhaps when we have paid off or at least paid down the debt we could look at politicians buying votes with "free money". It isn't free when we are simultaniously borrowing money to fund the government.

The Democrat Thread
QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 02:11 PM) Again - you're equating AHB's actions (and now thoughts, apparently) to Barack Obama. Have you seen Obama's responses (I doubt it)? If so, what about them gives you the impression that he's so thin-skinned? Good point. So do you care to take a guess why all of the links? Besides padding a post count and spamming the threads?

The Democrat Thread
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 12:57 PM) Make the 5... yes 5 negative attack ads in a row: Correction: 6 in a row- Now tell me why this makes Obama a better President then McCain? Connect the dots for us. In this age of terrorism and anti-American senetiment all over the world, perhaps Obama is too thin skined to be President? He's going to see and hear a lot worse if he gets elected.

The Democrat Thread
But, to that, I say, what is it that's been propping up the government through the 2000's (let's not talk about mortgages, ) -- foreign borrowing. We spend as fast as we get it and more. Take that away, abruptly, and we're royally screwed. Now that too many consumers cannot qualify for credit cards and such, the government will borrow the money for us and give us the loans directly in the form of economic incentive checks. But this is even better. Other people will pay back this debt!

The Republican Thread
Just wondering, if the voters in a state wished to "outsource" their representation to someone from out of state, shouldn't those voters have that right?

8-1-8 White Sox at Kansas City Royals 7:05 pm first pitch
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 01:45 PM) Hopefully, 3 months, but I would think the over/under is less than 2. Oops. yes. Who is the most likely to be in a Sox uniform opening day 2009 Griffey, Crede, Anderson, or none of the before?

8-1-8 White Sox at Kansas City Royals 7:05 pm first pitch
Let the Griffey era begin. Which will last about two months.

Masset's replacement?
Basically it is a question only until September 1. There could DL shuffles all the way until that date. Seems like there are a couple candidates.

Decapitated and ATE him?
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 08:30 AM) That is some scary s***. What do you do in that situation? I think it would be so chaotic that it would be hard to grasp what was going on. Oh I think you would grasp it quickly enough, what to do is the question. Wrestling with a mad man with a chef's knife doesn't seem prudent, but doing nothing is also wrong.

Ken Griffey Jr. + Cash to the White Sox
QUOTE (JohnStamos @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 09:36 AM) Well considering the trade deadline is hours away I feel pretty confident in saying that Paul Konerko will be on the White Sox for the rest of the season. Finding someone who wants him, getting him to waive his 10-5, and finalizing a deal before 3 is not something that I would call possible right now. I agree, but it would not be unheard of that Konerko has "pre-approved" deals to a few teams.

Ken Griffey Jr. + Cash to the White Sox
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 10:32 AM) Throw this into the random FWIW category, the Sox do now have an open spot on the 40 man roster. And a little cash

Ken Griffey Jr. + Cash to the White Sox
QUOTE (quickman @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 10:25 AM) this is a joke right? Who the hell cares? Your worried about a number? I do not think anyone is worried, but it is fun idle speculation. People Magazing has built an empire over just such minor stuff. And, for the record, Swish would give up his number to a HoFer and a nice gift $$$$
