  1. Hey! One of us will be the next President of the United States. Does that make you as hot as it does me?
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 12, 2008 -> 06:10 AM) That's probably because you have always known it as Burma... Thanks for tossing me the life preserver, but truthfully geography, and memorizing names, was never my strong part. Burma, they export shave cream, right?
  3. QUOTE (jackie hayes @ May 11, 2008 -> 07:50 PM) That's cute -- but it would be nice if it actually got to the areas that need it the most, instead of being diverted to politically sensitive areas, and quickly, instead of being delivered using the tiny, ancient fleet of planes and helicopters the junta has available. They're going to kill tens or hundreds of thousands of people, and they're worrying about the labels on the boxes so they'll look great on state-run tv. I'd say what they're doing matters. I'm not going to start placing comparative values on the lives saved. I frankly had never heard of the country before. People are people. Losing the supplies was a terrible event, no matter which starving person was going to benefit or who was going to get credit from the citizens. The earlier comment was the loss of this shipment was infinitesimal compared to the government's actions. The loss of what amounted to about 20% of the aid that was currently in the country is huge. I believe the argument on who gets credit for the food is dangerous on both sides. If the government wants their labels on this stuff, label it here in the US with their label and start shipping.
  4. And a pretty classy guy doing it.
  5. QUOTE (jackie hayes @ May 11, 2008 -> 09:32 AM) It's not clear how much good would be done by those supplies, anyway. The junta is relabeling relief boxes (to say they came from General X or Y) and distributing them for political, not humanitarian, effect. The damage caused by the loss of this one ship is infinitesimal compared to the damage being done by the government. I think the nurishment in the rice would be the same, no matter whose name was on the outside of the box.
  6. Thank you SS and others. Clerks was a great watch. I can't believe that fell from my radar. I easily would have placed it in my top 10.
  7. QUOTE (knightni @ May 10, 2008 -> 05:50 PM) I've heard that... Actually, upon further review by the replay official, that should be changed to Don't do the crime unless you are in California, a celebrity, and can afford top tier legal help.
  8. Don't do the crime, if you can't do the time. He knew, he did, he lost. The law he broke does not make any allowances for intent, for maliciousness, etc. Apply the law to the crime. He'll have a second chance at prom. If he can't find a partner use a wooden chair
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 10, 2008 -> 11:11 AM) IMO there are 2 options for Michigan. A revote or 50/50 split. Those seem like the only 2 fair things to do given the circumstances. There are problems with any sort of revisionist solutions. Basically they will come down to a best guess as to what the voters would have done, and that can never, except by accident, by accurate. Revoting has its problems as well. Cost comes to mind. Lots more new information. But I have forgotten, wasn't the issue that voted too soon anyways? WOuld they not now be doing what the DNC wanted them to do?
  10. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 10, 2008 -> 08:26 AM) But the results in Michigan are not a true representation of how the people would have voted. How many people stayed home knowing or at least thinking their vote would not count? Allocating delegates based on their results just doesn't jive for me. Absolutely true, but unlike most countries where voting is a sham at best, we will actually spend a lot of resources in trying to give the voters in Michigan a voice. In most countries it just would not matter and the default position would be, who cares? I think we are better served when everyone's vote is so important we go through this and try to make sense of something fair.
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 10, 2008 -> 01:48 AM) I'll definitely send you a list before the deadline. I'm too drunk to do it right now. just a thought, if I was about to go to jail for a drunk driving related offense, I would realize that talking about being drunk comes off as very stupid and childish and perhaps you have not learned all the lessons. Being under the influence of anything from a stiff dick to heroin involves risks. People, especially young guys, do very stupid things when in that condition. There is a point where you can enjoy alcohol without being too drunk.
  12. QUOTE (Y2HH @ May 9, 2008 -> 02:41 PM) I'm not sure where some of these guys got the idea that CC is cake, but it's not. It's a scum ridden place full of gangs and criminals. The first thing you're going to notice is everyone sectioned off into their specific gangs/groups. You will quite often see whites with whites, blacks with blacks, mexicans with mexicans, latin kings with latin kings, etc...and no, this isn't a joke. So just go wherever you happen to fit in and keep quiet for a few days, because I highly doubt you're going to be in solitary for the duration, you will probably spend quite a bit of time mixed amongst them. You will get parolled early (probably after 4 days) as long as you're not a jackass that draws attention. Don't forget, Sox fans with Sox fans, Cub fans with high bidder. "I'm somebody's b****!" I was mistaken before, I thought CC meant Community College. Seriously, ten days in solitary may be better than five in the gp.
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 9, 2008 -> 01:07 PM) It's a joke that she would think she is deserving of the 100% vote. The fact that she could only get 55% when all the candidates with a true chance took their names off the ballot says a lot. WHY ARE WE CONSIDERING ALLOWING THESE VOTES WHEN MICHIGAN VIOLATED THE NATIONAL PARTY RULES AND KNEW THEIR VOTES WOULDN'T COUNT!?!?!?!? WTF WTF WTF I hate Hillary! Because there are actual people in Michigan, hundreds of thousands who took the time to go vote. Good honest Americans who decided on that day to be part of democracy in America, regardless of what a handful of party officials did. In this country we have a deep respect for each person's vote, and will leap over any hurdles to make each and every vote counts in some way. It truly is one way we are so different than most other countries, we'll move heaven and earth for even one voter. Some states have all or nothing primaries, so that option is not without precedence. Assuming a vote for "A" is really for "B" is tenuous at best. It is a long shot strategy, but W. Clinton was a long shot and won.
  14. I expected to be in the minority on this one. Once I saw where he was going and what he was majoring in, I guessed it wasn't some kid looking over a teacher's shoulder and snagging a password.
  15. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 8, 2008 -> 10:36 PM) I just got done cleaning my room very thoroughly. The part that took the longest was taking out all of the keys on my keyboard, and cleaning the whole thing out. It's the first time I ever cleaned it, and I've had it over 4 years now. I'm sure there are plenty of jokes about what could've been in there, but it was freaking dirty. I hope that was more than a $10 keyboard.
  16. Hacking into a government computer that contained private, personal, information. Sorry dude, enjoy the year off.
  17. Up until today, and it is still to be seen, we do want out Presidential candidates white, Christian, male, and with some link to the common man. Perhaps that is why we enjoy that tossing out of the first pitch, bowling, fishing, horseback riding, etc. The candidates carefully control that image. I believe that opening up the candidate pool, by opening up the gene pool, will be the #1 thing we will do to improve our candidates.

QUOTE (shipps @ May 8, 2008 -> 07:01 PM) Sadly I have become more and more addicted by the day.And to think at about 300pm I was honestly saying to myself Iam getting kind of bored with posting...what time is it now? I thought you were saying 300 post/minute which is the usual ss2k5 burst.

QUOTE (shipps @ May 8, 2008 -> 06:48 PM) Tex I see you have the lightweight powerful aerodynamic bicycle but I hope you are still keepin it real with the banana seat. Absolutely, and a sissy bar and the 5 speed shifter on the frame. Green and yellow I miss that bike. I was seduced by a 10 speed with those drop down handlebars. Something like this

QUOTE (Gene Honda Civic @ May 8, 2008 -> 04:04 PM) Cheat rides handmade titanium (which hasn't seen the light of day this year thanks to Chicago weather) and old school steel (which has been getting plenty of cold-weather action). Cool. BTW, congrats on 14,000 posts
  21. I'm guessing that little thought bubble could be placed above anybody listening to Ozzie . . .

I was just informed by #1 son that a Trek 1.2 road bike is joining my Cannondale M400. Anyone riding some really sweet carbon?
  23. FWIW, when I was working on a career pathways project for the So Tex Manufacturers Association, one of the skills that was mentioned that distionquished most college grads from non grads was the ability to function under deadlines. So while you were learnin' whatever, you were also developing a life skill. (at least that is what you can tell your parents) One of the differnces between being in college when I was 19 and today, is I almost never wind up in those time crunches. Just like I now fear the hangover, I fear the too many projects and too little time.
