When you are old and have a job, west coast games suck.

What do you think of tonight's batting order?

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 15, 2008 -> 04:59 PM) I didnt want to start a whole thread about it, but I would look at signing Kenny Lofton to a minor league deal if I was KW. His OBP has been fairly steady over the years and could add a decent presence to the top of our lineup. Right now our leadoff hitters have been some of the worst in the majors. That's where we're a little mixed. Are we trying to win now? Holding and hoping? Building? I thought we were trying to win now. -
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 15, 2008 -> 03:16 PM) I believe he has to much MLB experience to join that list. His time has passed. Duh, you are right. Thanks. I'm a bit distracted today.
-
It would be nice to add his name to this list Luis Aparicio, Gary Peters, Tommie Agee, Ron Kittle, Ozzie Guillen, ?
-
IIRC the teams submit the names and position. Why so early? Paper ballots at the ballpark would be my guess. Printing up a few million of anything has to take some time.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ May 15, 2008 -> 02:05 PM) I agree with that. And I nearly got laughed out of the state of Florida That may have nothing to do with sodas
-
QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ May 15, 2008 -> 11:55 AM) I drink Jarritos the most. I prefer tamarindo but my family usually buys both the mandarina and tararindo ones. Dr. Pepper, that spicy cola product, should have been listed. For soda, I drink Coke. Mexico Coke in bottle (made with pure cane sugar)>>>>> Coke in bottle >> gun >> plastic >> can

A couple facts on multi year deal. When a player does better then expected, the team wins the deal. When the player does less, the team loses the deal. Players want to sell themselves high Having said that, I'm not certain if I was Q, I'd accept a 7/$40 I'm not even certain I'd take a 6/$40 Unless he wants to cash a bigger check now.

QUOTE (The Critic @ May 15, 2008 -> 11:01 AM) You're from Texas, Land Of Big Oil, ain'tcha? I thought having a car and attending high school football games were mandatory down there! Pick up (the bigger the better) or Suburban would be closer. And high school football is only mandatory of you are a red blooded American dang gummit

BTW, can we all agree *this* was a better slumpbuster than the previous attempt? -
QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ May 15, 2008 -> 11:57 AM) Nope, it beats the heck out of the $2,000 I'd drop if I tried to buy a mint 55-card set of the original Mars Attacks cards. $2,000!! I'll sell you mine for $200 If I had any. /I'm such a bastard

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ May 15, 2008 -> 11:58 AM) I would, but the people would probably have an easier time finding ammo for the AK over there, and the AK handles dirt better than the M16. Exactly why we give them M16 and SELL them ammo

QUOTE (YASNY @ May 15, 2008 -> 10:51 AM) Bonds felt the same way. Buuuut Moooooooom! ALLLLL THE OTHER KIDS ARE DOING IT!!!!!!!

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ May 15, 2008 -> 11:33 AM) Wow, those are great. I kind of knew those had come out, but had outgrown most card collecting by then. Only in looking back at that set do I see what a great job they did of paying homage to the 1962 original mars Attacks series with the garish colors and the over-the-top comic book graphic gore. I want that set now. $20 too much? So what else do you want?

I always kind of considered him a goof, with the illeism and just plan goofy stuff he did. But I was just reading some stuff on his career and realize he was far greater then I remember. Amazing career and really loved to play. As I get older, I am beginning to appreciate the guys that just seem to really love their sport, Buerhle, Favre, and the like.

QUOTE (The Critic @ May 15, 2008 -> 10:22 AM) You got that on a bumper sticker? [definitely green] Thank you for assuming I have a car
-
QUOTE (The Critic @ May 15, 2008 -> 10:09 AM) I thought they'd only want you to believe in one being no one can see or prove the existence of.... [green?] Science answers how, religion answers why.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 15, 2008 -> 09:05 AM) I am a f***ing genius for changing the f***ing line up around because we f***ing won. When we lose I will be f***ing stupid, because I changed the f***ing line up. [/Ozzie Guillen on his line up changed /making plans for October -
QUOTE (mreye @ May 15, 2008 -> 09:54 AM) Whew! About what I was thinking. In a religious context, the phrasing is a bit awkward, and possibly misleading.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 14, 2008 -> 06:20 PM) But at the same time, that guy is guaranteed to get the most plate appearances on your team (you'd probably want one of your best hitters to bat the most times over the course of the season) and most importantly he's the guy who hits in front of your supposed best hitters. It's not about leading off the inning, it's about leading off the batting order. So, no the leadoff spot is not "overrated" (whatever that means.) You don't know what it means, but you know it isn't? Basically what I felt it means is in some circles, people believe you cannot win without a prototype lead off guy. Anything that doesn't look like Chicago's own Ricky Henderson, is a liability. We've been scoring runs with the long ball for so long, I forgot any other way. Anyone who can get on, regardless of speed is an asset. Just wait for the outfield souvenirs to arrive and trot home. In that situation the ability to steal 50 bases is vastly over rated.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 15, 2008 -> 07:04 AM) Is it really so hard for people to park in one spot? Sometimes, I miss having an old beater car that I didn't care about. I used to squeeze in next to the asshole who thinks his porsche needs two spaces, right up next to it, when I had a car I didn't care about. That was always fun. Way back when Lakehurst was a new mall and not a parking lot, there was one security guard whose life mission was ticketing every one of those "self absorbed f***ers who think they are better then us". There was one spot in particular with two spaces under a tree and curb to prevent anyone from parking around you. Guys would pull across those two spots at right angles to the other spots. He would park his old beater right behind their rear bumper, legally in that spot, and watch as they took 20 minutes of small maneuvers to get out.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 14, 2008 -> 04:06 PM) Texsox, I dont think that Bonds should have to follow the rules Obviously.
