  1. Some of the issue is also the balance. With four major sports that would leave about 5 from each sport on your list. So instead of thinking top 20, think the top 2-3 Cubs and 2-3 Sox or else the other sports drop. So all of a sudden Banks, for example being left off, becomes a little easier to understand. I don't agree, but could see a list where Banks was the sixth best baseball player in Chicago.

QUOTE (shipps @ May 27, 2008 -> 12:53 PM) Do you and your friends play American Gladiator games when you bbq or tailgate? I learned in it a Turkish prison with Capt Oeuver
  4. The miserable chest cold, eating a little soup, drinking gallons of hot herbal tea, coughing my lungs out, diet seems to be working. Actually, realizing my stomach is shrinking from not eating, I plan on doing my best to stop overeating and continue this weight loss.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ May 27, 2008 -> 01:59 PM) I know what you are talking about. I dont know what the official name for the game is, but my buddy has it and he called it hillbilly golf http://www.instructables.com/id/Hillbilly-Golf/ Thank you.
  6. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ May 27, 2008 -> 12:16 PM) ^^^ That's the one! So you could list some micro brew that no one has ever heard of before?

QUOTE (knightni @ May 27, 2008 -> 11:47 AM) One time in college, when I was REAL drunk... But after that first time, basically when I would get this urge . . . I prefer washers, but same concept. And what is that game called with the ladder like deal and two balls in ropes? and knight, waaaay too much info
  8. This list would have been totally boring to me if the final list matched mine 100%. It was interesting to see how people differed. On the last list, I had left Clerks off because I never saw it, based on SS recommendation I rented it and really enjoyed it. On this list I saw a couple athletes I had not thought if in a long time, that was pretty cool as well.
  9. I was thinking that David Caruso, the over acting iconic star of CSI:Miami is very similar to William Shatner, the over acting iconic star of Star Trek. Agree? Or it could be the Tylenol Cold formula and Ricola cough drops combined with tenormin and a stuffy head.
  10. Horatio Caine = Capt. Kirk
  11. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ May 27, 2008 -> 09:53 AM) But see, they HAVE done serious holidays, like MLK day and Veterans day. So are you suggesting that they don't do serious and just stay funny? They do it to increase business. If there was one or two holidays that should be above commercial exploitation, isn't Memorial Day one of them? Or have we gotten to the point we believe every holiday should be used to promote a business?
  12. Be proud guys! If that's what y'all think is good public entertainment. Sorry for insulting your entertainment choices. I can't wait for y'all to give those to your kids for Christmas. Ha Ha Ha. Hey Mom, isn't that one of those dolls that perverts f*** when they can't get dates? Yes son, and Sox fans embrace those as funny and make fun of people who disagree. We'll stop at the store and buy you one for the next game.
  13. QUOTE (lostfan @ May 27, 2008 -> 07:53 AM) I find Google's reasoning perfectly acceptable unless you're saying that Memorial Day should be in the same category as the 50th anniversary of Sputnik, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's birthday, and Halloween? The only other day that deserves that same treatment is MLK day. And that does lead to a question, is a company more or less patriotic for having a Memorial Day Sale-A-Bration!!

The guy on the Wizard seems the most understanding of being a greenhorn. I wonder if they show the full crews. There has to be a relief Captain, cook, etc. I think for simplicity, they cut back on who is shown.

QUOTE (Kid Gleason @ May 27, 2008 -> 07:36 AM) Grab yourself some hot italian sausages, some boneless chicken parts (pretty much 1 sausage to 1 chicken brest ratio type of thing), pepper (green, red, orange, yellow...whatever), an onion, some garlic, a bunch of red potatoes (cut 'em up), throw all of that into a tin foil bag, throw that into the oven at about 400 degrees for almost an hour (check it though as it might cook faster than you expect). All of the flavors blend together and it's an amazing meal that reheats very nicely. That is one of the meals we teach Scouts to cook over a coals. Foil Packs. As long as they are sealed well enough to not leak, everything steams very nicely.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 27, 2008 -> 07:20 AM) best cartoons Nice idea also, would Family Guy be next to Bugs Bunny and Scooby Do? I was thinking the Simpsons and Family Guy in against M*A*S*H, Seinfeld and the like.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 27, 2008 -> 07:07 AM) Today we raise our Miller High Life's to that special senior citizen Woah, Woah, Woah, Mr. Moneybags, those folks on fixed incomes in Florida are tipping back a Natty Light in special observance of Mr. Fla's birthday! I hacked into Jim's calendar and learned the special day includes 4:30 - 6:15 Early bird dinner at Denny's 6:15 - 6:20 Argue with dinner mates on how to split check (who had the lemonade? It's more than ice tea!) 6:25 - 7:00 Walk around the Mall in his new Crocs 7:00 - 7:30 Birthday cake followed by a little blue pill 7:55 - 7:58 Special celebration with wife 8:00 - ZZzzzzzzzz as always Happy Birthday!
  18. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ May 26, 2008 -> 08:22 PM) So because they tend to be lighthearted, they can't be serious this one time? They finally did one for Veteran's Day, I don't recall that one being cartoonish. Is the Yahoo one cartoonish and/or disrespectful? With all the changing they do, how could they not do this one. "Don't be evil" is their motto. How about "Don't be stupid."? Or "Don't be short-sighted"? I am not 'deeply offended', no 'manufactured outrage' or going to start a boycot, I just find this sad. I guess they could have. In the wake of Memorial Day being mostly about grilling hotdogs and big sales at Macy's, I'm thinking not using it to increase business is more respectful. It would seem that you wanted them to make a special banner that drives traffic to the site, that just feels wrong to me.
  19. Wow Alpha, we came to almost exact opposite conclusions when looking at our search pages. I thought, wow, Google has enough respect to not turn it into a cartoon, which is how I remember all of their other special logos.
  20. I'll be burning some flags later.

  23. Is it safe to say that the Bears have an amazing tradition an Middle Linebacker? It's interesting that the Bears seem to be so heavily represented.
  24. Another classy image for Sox fans to be proud of . . .
