TOP 40 FAVORITE TV COMEDIES
QUOTE (Soxy @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 06:42 AM) Frasier wasn't funny. That's probably why it's so low. 37 Emmys for Comedy Series just doesn't buy you any respect anymore.

TOP 40 FAVORITE TV COMEDIES
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 07:14 AM) Well yeah, the Dick Van Dyke show only showed up on two lists (mine was one of them). However, what can ya do? I would have swore it was on my list as well. Which would have made three.

TOP 40 FAVORITE TV COMEDIES
I'm kinda surprised Fraser was so low. I also see a trend for current, which always happens with these.

Mean Joe Crede
QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 8, 2008 -> 08:17 AM) How can you say that? Crede's glove is better (despite his throws this year) and his bat is better, when healthy. But Fields is cheaper and we could use the money saved to plug some holes . . .

All Things ProCain
Why is it pandering to some groups and not pandering to others? It seems if we do not agree with a population segment, we use the label "pandering", and if we agree, it's just good strategy. Perhaps he has to "pander" to the middle?

Catch-All Anything Thread
QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 8, 2008 -> 08:05 AM) Luckily I didnt say anything that was too vulgar so it just made for an awkward moment, she got the paperwork she needed from me and walked away. My face turned extremely red so that was the dead give away that I was talking about her.I felt like a pervert because I was explaining her with such excitement. You should have asked her out. Shipps turns slowly and says "I was just getting to the part where she approaches the desk and I ask her out, so would you like to catch a movie as soon as they remove that 6" spike from your lower GI, the puss stops draining from your ear, and the infection clears up? It must suck trying to pick up girls at an ER.

What's it like for Parents of Major Leaguers
I was just thinking it must be tough to be the parents of a Major League player. Riding their ups and downs, listening to fans heap praise, then ranting a raving. The trades, injuries, and what not. And remembering the other kids, who they love just as much, but who aren't on sports center. I guess it is also tough on the brothers and sisters. Soi here's to you family members who never get a cheer!

Another interesting map
Texas has two Senators® and a President® who hails from the Lone Star State. Plus a VP who was a Texan until the Constitution and not allowing a Pres and VP from the same state crept up.

2008 General Election Discussion Thread
5 months before the election and I am already tired of the whole thing. Can I just vote now and get it over?

Do higher gas prices mean more price volatility and gouging??
When gas was $2.00 per gallon a 2% increase would be .04, that same percentage is now .08 and much more noticeable. But generally speaking, companies have a better opportunity to gouge when prices are falling and they can keep some of the falling price for themselves. When prices are rising, people gauge prices much more carefully and there is more pressure on the retailers to keep the increase as small as possible. Also the taxes that are percentage based increase with the wholesale price, adding to the increase.

Happy Birthday!!- LET'S MAKE A LIST III ~ FUNNIEST TV COMEDIES EVER!
QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 6, 2008 -> 10:41 AM) Don't forget me! Oh sure, campaigning for votes Cheers! And well, just shoot me if I enter spin city and start campaigning. I prefer to allow the voter's will and grace of God to guide the selections. I was thinking with all my friends here, we make kind of an odd couple, but it's all in the family. But being a family guy, and may I say, king of the hill, I believe we could welcome back our old friend from night court. Now enough of this non sense, I need to catch a taxi but first, I need to scrub with crystal soap.- Perceptual Experiment
I saw right away that Walker has no clue what the hell the hitters are doing.- White Sox sign Esteban Loaiza/Option Wassermann
QUOTE (Steff @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 09:47 AM) Just signed to a 1 year deal. Can he catch lightening in a bottle twice... With the Sox??- LET'S MAKE A LIST III ~ FUNNIEST TV COMEDIES EVER!
I went with :30 sitcoms and keeping it to 20 was tough. Shows like Simpsons, Happy Days, Coach, WKRP, Jeffersons, Dick Van Dyke, Soap, did not make my Top 20.- Wade to Bulls rumors
So it becomes Wade for and swap 1st rounder picks. Sight unseen, Team A offers a player of great talent, but with a history of imjuries, for one of your players, and then you have the second overall pick in the draft. I'd take it before I knew the player's involved. As long as you were getting the edge in the player trade. Drafting is an art, not a science. Going into the lottery, everyone in the Bulls world would have loved the #2 pick. And if Wade is injured, the loss is more the player traded, not as much the draft pick swap.- The POSitive Walker Thread
QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 06:59 AM) I don't think Ozzie meant anything by it...and I'm sure it's water under the bridge now. Does Ozzie ever mean anything he says?- Simpsons' Voice Actors Get More Money
QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 05:39 PM) good. They were way underpaid for the older episodes. Based on their contribution to humanity, or the obscene scale we pay for entertainment in this country? These people were asking for $1,000,000 per year, had to "settle" for $800,000. Of course it will just cost more the advertise on the Simpsons, which gets passed on to the consumers who buys those goods. I wonder, much like taxes on gas, how much advertising dollars we spend on everyday products.- LET'S MAKE A LIST III ~ FUNNIEST TV COMEDIES EVER!
QUOTE (Felix @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 09:24 PM) This is going to be nearly impossible, since I never watched shows like Cheers or MASH due to my age, yet know they should be included in this sort of list. I just have no idea where to put them. As I've been working on my list I realized a similar situation. I appreciate , for example, The Simpsons and South Parks position in TV comedies, but never really liked them too much, not enough to make my top 20. I'm listing my top 20 favorites, I'm not trying to offer some critical approach.- LET'S MAKE A LIST III ~ FUNNIEST TV COMEDIES EVER!
Tougher then I thought. I made a quick list and had about forty.- All Things Pro-Hillary
The question becomes, will she have a shot in 4 or 8 years? In many ways she is paralleling McCain. In 2000 it appeared that McCain has his chance, and it was over. Who knows, she may still have another run in her.- All Things Pro-Obama
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 08:34 AM) He stayed, listened, and didn't do anything about it. Didn't talk to the pastor about it, didn't try to intervene, didn't leave (until it was politically expedient). Listening to Rush isn't a good comparison. If he says something that truely offends you, you can just turn it off and be done with it. You don't have 20 years invested in it. I also have listened to Air America (a few times. Seriously, some of those hosts are just unhinged!), so I understand wanting to know what the other side thinks/feels. Again, not the same as attending a church for 20+ years. Tex, we will have to agree to disagree on this. I am not going to argue this further (at least in here) so I can honor the PRO part of this thread. Sorry for the mini-hijack, people. Tex and I sometimes can really get going. I don't think we disagree that much, it really is the matter of degrees and without being able to go back and listen to 20 years of sermons we don't know if this was the frog in warm water situation. We also do not know how often he really attended. We don't know if the pastor decided to use his new found celebrity to advance his more outrageous views, something he possibly hadn't done before. I've just sat through too many sermons I did not agree with because I enjoyed the Church for a lot of other reasons. I know I can listen to contrary views. No matter what he did here his detractors were going to use it against him.- Bo Diddley dead at 79
This is sad, but I thought he was already dead. RIP. Heaven's band just got better. - Happy Birthday good sir Knightni
