She is asking for a good screen grabber, any choice downloads? preferably free. I always use the cut and paste into Paint, I guess there are better options.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 04:46 PM) Ok, fair enough. But I don't think anyone here has condemned China and then insisted on more capital punishment in the US (or even supported government executions). Thats why it seemed like your quote was a bit out of the proverbial left-field. What I was seeing was in regards to the youtube editorial that Jim posted. If that was some scum bag child molester, a certain segment would be cheering. If it was someone in the middle east, perhaps a Palistinian, some would cheer. China does it for their reasons, and people condem. I think it's wrong in all these cases.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 05:35 PM) Generally, if you resign players, make sure it's someone you'll build around or that it won't cost a fortune. We're getting far from the developing Fields thread, but generally any player you want to build around, that you are resigning, will not be cheap. I'm thinking it's guys like Buerhle, Thomas in his prime, etc. Basically their second contract is the expensive one.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 05:23 PM) So now we're going to move a guy who hits 35-40 homers a year for Joe Crede? I'm not going to make this into a debate, so this is the last I'll say on it in this thread, but I think that's a terrible idea. I agree.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 04:18 PM) I'm not really sure what you are going with this post. please explain. There are a number of people that believe capital punishment is a good tool for keeping society safe, but we seem to be uncomfortable when other countries are more aggressive then us, but make fun of countries that use it less, or not at all. Look how we have changed what constitutes a capital offense, and whenever we change the line, we believe other countries should also. And it was in green because I generally believe that countries should not have the option to kill citizens.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 05:15 PM) Balta, that is an amazing post. With the extra money we fill holes too. This is why we arent dealing players just to deal, there has to be a game plan moving forward with young talent and also payroll flexibility. Presumably, any hole would be a starter ahead of one of these guys, he quoted the entire starting lineup. So where would you upgrade with that 30 mil?

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 03:35 PM) But don't we love a country that gets tough in crime instead of coddling them like we do?

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 04:30 PM) Did you let him throw you a few pitches? ...cuz I wouldn't have...I may be dumb, but I'm not crazy I did ask him if he got tired talking about Robin Ventura, he smiled and said yes. I mentioned I was a Sox fan, and I still laugh remembering. He said the look in Robin's eyes as he got close was hilarious. I believe Robin even said he realized when he was half way it was a no win situation. I think he could whip most of the MPB talent. Too bad I didn't ask him if he uise steroids, I'll bet my burger would have been extra-special after that. Next time I'm up that way I need to take a side trip and see if it is still open. He's right across the lake from Choke Canyon.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 04:04 PM) Where is the option for the current scenario - let the players do it if they want to? That's what I'd vote for. Last option

QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 04:01 PM) the more people that wear it, the more likely some kid will ask his dad why everyone is wearing 42, and he will learn and hopefully read about it, not that he probably doesnt know about it anyways...but i think the more people that wear it, the greater the awareness, the better... if only 1 or two people wear it, it can go unnoticed real easily to those not paying attention to it That is a great point. I had not considered that, I have to rethink my position.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 02:35 PM) The administration continues to push the wall on the US-Mexico border as a way to get tough on those who break the law by entering this country illegally. So naturally, since they are running into problems with existing laws and regulations on the environment, as well as those protecting people's economic livelihoods and their property, what to they do? They decide to ignore those laws by special waiver. Because of course, the best thing for the government to do in cracking down on lawbreakers is to choose to ignore the law. January cannot come soon enough. I cannot begin to tell you the b.s. they are pulling on this. Money buys a lot of privilege.

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 03:40 PM) Not real sure why you would make that face for a picture, Is that a beer in his hand? I think we have your answer And I hope that wasn't his first . . .

Too many cheapens it. I thought when Griffey announced that was perhaps the best way to honor the man. Then when a guy like Dye said he would too, again, that was solid. Then B***s which seemed a little b.s. with all the steroid controversy. I'd have liked to see it limited to one player in each league with some selection criteria, if that was too few, then one guy from each team.

http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...sp&c_id=mlb Ken Griffy is still the man for coming up with this idea. A classy move by one of baseball's classy guys.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 02:10 PM) Did you just use "chess" and "exciting" in the same sentence? yes, I did. Oops, no I did not. Technically it was two sentences

QUOTE (mreye @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 02:57 PM) Part of gambling is hedging your bets and that's what you're doing when you split prizes. Let me refraise that: Part of intelligent gambling is hedging your bets. Like I said earlier, if a split is considered, it basically becomes a new bet I could win X I could win X+1/2 I could win Y If I felt a big enough edge to play for the difference, I would. In the no repeat pool bet, I would look at what teams I had left, and their schedule, look at the other player's situation, and decide. But never predetermine your strategy, never give away a tool, without some analysis.

QUOTE (tonyho7476 @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 01:43 PM) I always said that whichever manager wins it, should have his job as long as he likes...assuming he does not go mental. Ozzie is the man...love live the King! you are assuming he isn't already

QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 7, 2008 -> 11:04 PM) Ha Ha Coach said he'd have my balls if I called for a fast ball here . . .

The bigger the difference, the more I'd be thinking of splitting. When I was running the Men's Golf Assiciation events at my club we would add up the number of places we were paying and divide by that number, so the drops were not that big. For example $1,000 paid 5 ways would be 1+2+3+4+5=15 $1000/15 =$66 So the prize money would be $333, 264, 198, 132, 66. Less of an incentive to split. The events that use a different formula create a situation where it becomes more of an issue. I've also seen in some rules where agreements like that are against the rules of the event. Chess was like that, and guys would have these 20 move draws, shake hands, and leave. Disappointing for those that were hoping for an exciting game.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 01:30 PM) I was driving to go get my hair cut today, and had Murph on the radio(my first mistake). Some guy called in saying he has watching all 14 games of Chicago baseball, and hasn't seen any bunting, and it's a huge problem. It's just so funny people can't look past old philosophies, and are unable to look the big picture, and the makeup of this team. As is said, it isn't how it's how many. There have not been too many bunt situations IIRC.

Certain managers will work well with a certain mix of players. And the mix is on the field, in the clubhouse, and away from the club. So a guy that is perfect for this group at this time, is not perfect for a different group at a different time, even if they are wearing the same uniform. There are a lot of parallels to Dikta, perhaps too many to be comfortable. I think Dikta was perfect for that group, as was Buddy Ryan, but neither did much after that. Ozzie is crazy, and perhaps the best example of how managing in baseball today may be more locker room and cheerleader than anything else.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 12:52 PM) If you get brushed back by Ryan you'd best to just step back. He owns/owned a restaurant and motel about 2 hours north of me and I was lucky to meet him one time I was in there for lunch. Very gracious, very nice.
