QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Feb 22, 2008 -> 03:15 PM) No, I just want to be fair. So people seem to be ripping Clinton for high priced advisors and lots of dough nuts. When you are underperforming, there will be closer scrutiny. OBbviously her campaign has made mistakes. But to base support on who is spending less money on doughnuts, is probably a dosservice to our political process.
-
It takes months after the campaign for a campaign to audit and fully itemize their expenses. It really is unfair to compare what one campaign codes something versus another. One might lump polling into the number. One may have an adviser as an independent contractor and he pays all his expenses, another may have one as an employee and he's getting his expenses paid and that may show up under airfare and hotel. Stuff like that. Plus, I doubt it would change anyone's opinion about a candidate. If you knew Obama spent $100 million on advisers, would you suddenly switch parties and support Huckabee?

We need $12,000 per year health insurance premiums so Alpha can really grow his business. We need a health care system where a 50 year old man can work 32 years, get layed off and lose half his saving when he is injured (my father-in-law). But hey he deserved it for working twenty years for the same company and not being a Malaysian who took his job. The large companies that could afford to insure their employees are moving jobs overseas. When Americans can work at a small company and not worry about their children coughing in the middle of the night, we start to fix our economy.

The the whole family to see Obama. My daughter the Huckabee supporter, my son, the Ron Paul supporter, and myself. We got there early and wound up in about the 8trh or 9th row. Standing about 20' from Obama. Couple impressions. First off, one of our local politicians made a great slip of the tongue. He meant to say, Obama marched with the immigrants, instead he said he marched with the ignorants I laughed and thought of Kap. Then a note to the campaign: If you are going to have someone introduce the candidate, make certain they know the candidates name. Unless I am mistaken, he is not Ba-rak-A Ob-ama or Ba-rak-O Ob-ama. Otherwise thirty minutes or so of the standard stump speech he has been giving. Probably tossed in a couple more Spanish phrases then normal, but everyone does. Talked a lot about education and the need for a VA Hospital in South Texas. We have over 50,000 Veterans living down here and in the winter is swells to over 75,000, yet our Veterans need to drive 5 hours to San Antonio to receive care. Overall, he connected well with the audience, seemed as genuine as someone could be in this situation, and I would not mind seeing him get the Dem nominee.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 21, 2008 -> 08:18 AM) I was thinking it was cheap for a pitcher who put up the numbers that Colon did during his prime. I think it would provide a carrot, er cheeseburger, for him to chase this year. I had to go back and read, you said mutual option, that would probably be in the ballpark. For some reason I was thinking that it would be either a team or a player option, and that would not work. I could also see a team option at $13 and a player option at $8 with a release number of $1 or similar. All figures in millions

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Feb 15, 2008 -> 09:01 AM) Pretty much, and this to me is pretty black and white. I know the libs out there will scream CIVIL LIBERTIES all day long, but this is not about that, and way deep down, they know it, but it doesn't help their "cause" of making the EVIL Republican agenda spin the world around. Suddenly you trust the government and want to bring it more into our lives. Hell, let's have them move in. There is a balance between giving the government toal access to our private lives and keeping them totally out. Thankfully we have leaders on both sides keeping either agenda from taking over.

QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Feb 14, 2008 -> 09:03 PM) Anyone find it amusing that the trial lawyers who are trying to prosecute the phone companies for helping the government are some of the biggest contributors to the Democrats? And I don't mean trial lawyers in a generic sense, I mean that 66 lawyers trying to sue has donated over 1.5 million to 44 Dems! http://www.townhall.com/columnists/AmandaC...ial_lawyer_cash I thought they stood for 'change'? That's what I love the most about Republican donors, they give money to candidates who they disagree with These lawyers should donate money to people that disagree with their views. Geez, for lawyers they are pretty dumb.

That option sounds just too high.

It would be difficult to become an alcoholic without drinking, and we all know that the chances of cheating on your girlfriend increases with alcohol. That's usually the first excuse that comes out, "but I waaaas drunk". Then "she came on to me". But for some, getting really drunk is the only way they can have fun. I respect that. I wonder if they are drinking to forget or to remember?

QUOTE(pierard @ Feb 20, 2008 -> 08:24 PM) Off topic: About two years ago I was bored and decided to do a little research (unscientific internet research) about each of the Kennedy's (real life soap opera), and I seem to remember some controversy about Joe and a car accident when he was younger. I think someone was paralyzed when he flipped his car. Also, I think he was planning on running for governor and someone (Joe or his kids) got hurt with illegal fireworks. I don't really have a point (hell who hasn't played with illegal fireworks and accidents are...accidents), but I'm sure this is stuff we will hear about in 4 years(?) if he decides to run for the Senate. About ten years ago the jeep he was driving flipped on Marthas Vineyard and seven people were hurt. No drugs or alcohol were cited, but he did get negligent driving. Senator Kennedy's term is up in 2013, that may be the opening. And for those mot keeping score, this Kennedy is the grandson of RFK (Bobby Kennedy) and son of Joseph Kennedy II the ex Congressman and Energy Executive. If you follow Kennedy dirt, it was Joseph II who had his annulment overturned by the Vatican when his ex-wife, who was not Catholic, fought it.

QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Feb 20, 2008 -> 04:13 PM) I disagree, Crede doesn't have much value NOW. But once spring games start...he will. I read that and it makes sense. but then I keep thinking of Mags. He was barely walking when he signed that Tiger contract.

QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Feb 20, 2008 -> 08:43 PM) Should I stop buying him drinks? No, then I'd be sending him even more money

Idiot eBay buyers This one seller has t-mobile Dash phones ending about every four hours. Seriously, one after the other, no end in sight. All refurbished, same description, same everything. So why does the ending price vary from $135 to $205? Do buyers not look? I'm liking bid assistant. I load ten at a time and place a low bid and I'm waiting. Sooner or later, I'll find the bargain. I love eBay for that.

QUOTE(Shadows @ Feb 20, 2008 -> 07:46 PM) Boo Texas State They are lucky though with the no Friday classes, but my friends that go there say its tough.. im sure they just dont attend class because thats like the party school of Texas Sometimes I have had assigned seats which is lame, but if not in the very back near the door so I can either sneak out when I get bored or have a straight shot out of the room when the class is over I believe all that caught up with my son. He went from top of his h.s. class to academic probation his first semester at state. Hmm, could it be alternating weekends in Austin and San Antonio? He's learning.

I applaud any candidate that will follow the rules and push their limits. I'd like a President that did the same thing. As far as listing accomplishments, name Bush's before he took office? Reagan? Clinton? Sponsored such and such bill? Sponsoring any bill worth a damn is a party favor handed out based on longevity, fund raising and a bunch more less than honorable reasons. Then it gets trotted out at the right time and people who don't follow closely think some stuff means more than it does.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 20, 2008 -> 02:48 PM) your favorite Che Guevara T-shirt? Thanks again, turns out Senator Kennedy was here in the 1980s doing work for the farm workers. So the shirt was a big hit. Quick review. After the local guys spoke and gave the local slant (many, including two of our state Senators are endorsing Obama) Joe Kennedy, Senator Kennedy's nephew spoke. Rex, I'm working your side of the street for a minute, one word . After graduating he did two years in the Peace Corps stationed in the Dominican Republic and was just recently in Timur helping with the refuges. And damn, he is one good looking man. I'm guessing they are grooming him for the Kennedy seat in the Senate. He did about half his presentation in Spanish, playing well with this crowd. And I was later told his Spanish was not a poser. Then the Senator made his way to the stage. Great mix of historical Dem highlights with current issues. Spoke about Health Care, Education, Immigration, lots about a VA hospital in the area. We have over 50,000 Veterans in this area and the closest VA hospital is 5 hours away in San Antonio, and a few other issues, real general stuff. He showed his age as he made his way on stage and shook hands with the politicos in attendance. Once he started speaking, the polish was evident. You know he has delivered this speech, minus some details, thousands of times, but this time it was special. Or at least he made the audience feel that way. Obama will be here Friday morning for a 9:30 am rally. Nice that South Texas is getting some play. No need for a REP to visit.

QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Feb 20, 2008 -> 02:51 PM) Apparently BillyBoy just said in Texas that if Hillary doesnt win Texas AND Ohio "I dont think she can win". So, if she looses either, she should drop out. Fire up the supporters.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Feb 20, 2008 -> 02:43 PM) Hey, I'll be glad when Hillary is gone from the political fixture that is the United States political landscape. Just remember, they have never lost an election. If you count them as dead now, she'll come back to bite you in the ass. Trust me, there's no one that wants her gone more then me, and I still contend that there's going to be shennanigans that puts her over the top in more ways then one. I thought Bill lost a reelection in Arkansas And she will be around for a very long time. She may be a Teddy Kennedy-esque player, but she will be a fixture for the next couple decades.
