QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 22, 2008 -> 10:32 PM) Michigan State picks a heck of a time to get their first win against a noteable opponent away from East Lansing, go figure. Another team that could not follow my very simple script and lose

Looking it over, and saying screw my UCLA pick for this round, GO AGGIES! Plus, I did not have them in the final four, and almost everyone else did.

QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 22, 2008 -> 06:53 PM) Why would I pick ND over Wash State? I hate them. Like I really hate Notre Dame. I was thinking next year I'm going to just pick Universities I like. I'd love to be cheering for Texas A&M right now.

My next upset pick is Oklahoma. I need them to come in to pass a couple people.

QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 10:41 PM) My one buddy picked SD AND Siena. Wow, with another buddy and you double your total? I stopped playing multiple brackets. I got tired of guys playing a dozen brackets, they always "had that one".

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 22, 2008 -> 04:46 PM) I'm not throwing stones in a glass house here -- I think I filled out a couple of brackets where I had them getting past this round (not to mention a bunch of other absolutely dumbass picks by me -- USC over K-State, for one). I didn't mean to throw it around as an insult, either. I just can't believe how much joy I take in watching Duke lose. I didn't think you were. I knew Duke was a risky pick. I also knew that not many people would have them past the second. I was looking for a couple teams to differentiate my picks from the crowd. Banked too much on Coach K. I understand the anti-Duke sentiment, but he runs one of the cleanest of the major b-ball programs, and I respect that. Now my only hope is UT-Austin. Go Longhorns

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 22, 2008 -> 03:48 PM) Ehh -- if you watched even a bit of college basketball this season it was fairly easy to see Duke wasn't really a #2 seed. It's also amazing what happens when the refs decides to pull their heads out of Coach K's ass and actually call fouls on Duke. Not much Duke coverage here.

knowing the Duke hatred, was one reason I picked them. They are usually the best delta between being a favorite and not being picked.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 22, 2008 -> 03:14 PM) I know the West is pretty awful, but why the heck would you pick Duke? No way could they possibly hnag with Xavier or UCLA. Playing the favorites all the way doesn't usually win. My two longshot picks were Duke making the final four, (banking on coaching coming through) and Texas winning it all. Now I'll wait for the second chance brackets

First Supreme Court case re: 2nd Amendment in 70 years
QUOTE(lostfan @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 09:46 PM) Great post... plenty of common sense here. Only thing I have some issue with is the part about guns being readily available - the easier it is to access, the easier it is to be found by an intruder and used against you. That's a slippery slope. What are your thoughts on gun collecting by the way? Curious. If you are going to count on the gun for protection, you have to assume you will be getting to it first and the intruder will not out muscle you for it. Collecting and creating an arsenal are usually easy to differentiate.

Would JR ever say this???
QUOTE(JohnCangelosi @ Mar 20, 2008 -> 12:58 PM) I happen to be an investor in many businesses and also run a few corporations myself. One thing you guys are missing is that when you have INVESTORS in your business, you need to report to them consistently on what you are doing in order to make a profit. J ncorgbl is back?! I have, and you are wrong, the goals of the INVESTORS (why are we shouting?) do come into play. If the investors goal is to win championships at any cost, then that is how the team would be run. There is nothing sacred that investors = profit motive. Put another way, if the group got together and said, we're going to invest $X today and $Y dollars every single year to win championships, and in the end, hopefully the value of the franchise will equal your investment, do you want in? Then that is how it should be run. Or at least until the group changes their direction. I'm not saying that is the case here, but people invest in companies for a variety of reasons, and earning a profit is not always one of them, just the most common. Here's an example, I've been investing in micro businesses through Kiva.org. Over the course of time, I expect to lose money, while helping entrepreneurs in Mexico.
