  1. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 03:39 PM) Dunn sucks and runs into a home run just about as much as Viciedo does.. If you think Dunn sucks, I hope you have an even more harsh verb to describe Viciedo. Have you ever looked at their baseball statistics?
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 03:37 PM) He's not Gordon Beckham bad, and he was doing great in this statistic about 2 or 2 1/2 months ago, but right now he's only at .669 OPS-wise against righties. He's also not Gordon Beckham valuable in providing defense. And 2 and a half months ago, out of a season 4 and a half months old, sounds like a pretty small sample size/isolated run of good luck considering his career numbers.
  3. QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 03:08 PM) Dunn's terrible at everything out there. Viciedo's terrible about everything but throwing. Viciedo > But Dunn's not terrible at hitting right handed pitching (see HR last night) and Viciedo is
  4. Sox are 3rd worst in MLB with 18 blown saves, tied with Pittsburgh. There are 11 teams with at least 15, mostly rebuilding type teams, but also (the aforementioned) Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Baltimore, and Cincy.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 01:29 PM) Seems they're really shopping Dunn hard right now. No Viciedo two days in a row. Certainly part of it's the fact that Danks HAS to play CF out there in SF, DeAza would be a disaster with that much ground to cover. We're facing right handers in both games.
  6. From the existing roster situation, clearly Danks would get sent down first. I have to assume Hahn plans to move at least 1 of Dunn/De Aza/Beckham/Viciedo by the end of the month. If that doesn't happen for some strange reason, maybe Eaton stays on the DL until September, or else someone comes down with a phantom injury for a week.
  7. Pretty dumb move by Robin putting Adam effing Dunn in right field. He can't play outfield. Ridiculous. It's a good thing Dunn basically won the game with his 2 run homer, but still, it's dumb because Robin did it and he loses all of our games for us.
  8. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 12:08 AM) Nice, Danksy. I like Moises here for some reason. Nice call. Thanks.
  9. Nice, Danksy. I like Moises here for some reason.
  10. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 11:52 PM) Not scoring after leadoff triple hurts now. And Pence's brainfart looms large.
  11. Sale looks terrible at the plate. Robin should not be letting him pitch in NL stadiums if those are the kinds of swings he's gonna take. Yet another boneheaded Ventura move.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 10:36 PM) So glad Beckham is batting in front of Abreu against a RHP. Shouldn't affect Abreu's ground outs one bit.
  13. Seeing the SF ballpark, which is considered to have a "spacious" outfield, reminds me of this again. The size of infields are identical across all stadiums. The outfields are not. Is there a simple resource online anywhere that illustrates their relative sizes? something that looks like: Park A has X square feet of outfield Park B has y square feet of outfield At Park A it is X feet from pole to pole
  14. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 10:03 PM) De Aza to CF, Michael Taylor to the corner Sounds like it's been long enough since you've been bummed out by DeAza's defense in center that you've kinda forgot, and you've never watched Taylor be atrocious in his major league appearances.
  15. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 09:49 PM) It's hard to understand why Danks was called up. It's like the Sox have loyalty to these AAAA stiffs. Had to put up with the horrendous Wise for years, and this guy is his clone. Who would you have called up to play CF?
  16. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 11:45 AM) Sox are stuck with him for 2 more years. Where is the math on this?
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 10:34 AM) Maddon chose to try to get Rizzo out with the lefty vs. lefty match-up and it blew up in his face. I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to dispute that this actually happened. You see, only our manager is THE WORST and nothing like that could happen to any other team. When our manager does something like that I carry it around in the pit of my stomach for days and go on angry online tirades about how I knew that would happen. If, and I'm saying IF that were to happen to another team like you describe here with Maddon, I would forget about it by the time I changed the channel and I would wish that the manager who did it was the manager of my team. I do all of this because I am smart at baseball.
  18. QUOTE (Lillian @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 02:14 PM) I'm sorry, but I don't follow your logic. How do those stats "debunk" the "theory"? The point being made there seems to be "in the year Cabreras's "protection" had by far his worst season, Cabrera had, by far, his best season." This year, Cabrera's protection is out-producing him.
  19. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 07:13 PM) Daryl Van Schouwen ‏@CST_soxvan 2m Surkamp optioned. I would imagine that Lindstrom may be coming back but that leaves no LHP in the bullpen. Rodon?
  20. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 07:06 PM) Today's loss has to be at least the 20th this season that RV has cost us. Incompetence this bad should not be tolerated at McDonalds....yet alone on a major league baseball team (excluding the cubs) Actually Robin told Abreu not to strike out twice and ground into a double play- to instead hit like he has been for most of the season. I don't know why Jose wouldn't listen to the coaching. Probably something that needs to be addressed.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 07:00 PM) I get that, but the guy on 1b also can't commit until Abreu does anything, and I don't think Gillaspie is that slow is he? Abreu scores from 2nd on, let's say 100% of doubles. Gillaspie scores from first on X% of doubles. Garcia scores on a number higher than X% of doubles.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 07:00 PM) I get that, but the guy on 1b also can't commit until Abreu does anything, and I don't think Gillaspie is that slow is he? If it's a double and it's a play at the plate, Garcia's going to get there fastest. If he manages to catch up with Abreu between 3rd and home, well that's as fast as you can go. Gillaspie probably isn't going to catch Abreu.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 06:58 PM) So you have Leury run for Gillaspie when Abreu is on 2nd base? You can't be serious with this. Garcia is the tying run. Abreu doesn't matter.
