Enough with the hyperbole
QUOTE (Bighurt52235 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 01:11 PM) I applaud the effort of trying to clean it up. I'm the most cynical person I know, in regards to how I feel about people, but the White Sox are the one area of my life where I love and support unconditionally. Would I rather see Viciedo than Pierre? Of course, but I fully support Juan, Rios, Dunn, and everyone else while they're wearing our uniforms. It flabbergasts me that posters seem to hate the PEOPLE on our team, not just their performance. Being frustrated by poor play is one thing, but to hate someone because of struggling at baseball, ridiculous. I frequented this site in 2003-2004, and the negativity and bulls*** got so great, that I didn't come back here until 3 months ago. And lately I've been really close to completely going away again. Not saying that as a threat, because I'm not a big contributor by any means. Living my whole life in the Pacific Northwest, I've never once personally known a single person who considers themselves a Sox fan, which is why I'm drawn to this site. And its a turnoff to see the only "Sox fans" I know, s***ting all over the team. Most people dont actually hate the people on the team, they tend to hate that they are playing on the team. And welcome to fandom, fans will never agree 100% with the way the team is being managed. It's damn common everywhere actually, Im sure you work for a company and see people being upset by higher ups, Im sure you know some politics and that people complain about who's in office. People have opinions, and they share them on this board. It's not unique for fans to say overreactional statements when they see a team they love lose, especially when they were supposed to be so much better.

WTF are we waiting for ? Call up Viciedo !
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 10:17 AM) Come on, you didn't laugh? I did. I also think Pierre holding some pictures of Ozzie doing something bad would've been great too.

2011 Films Thread
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 10:13 AM) Why did that not get wide release in theaters? I remember seeing the trailer for it a couple of times and thought that it looked good. The cast was ridiculous. I saw it on the plane back from Europe, it was a pretty good movie, but nothing too special.

Enough with the hyperbole
I think posters need to distinguish between being negative and not contributing good posts. One can be negative and be the best poster here, as long as they bring up good points, facts/stats. Some good examples are posts by Kalapse or Qwerty, they never will just say "Juan Pierre sucks sweaty balls, that is all." They will bring up just how bad Pierre has been, and will prove it by finding and posting player's with close or worse ISO's. I also find that their still is good debate and discussion going on, it just gets hidden. I know that shack and I have had some great discussions in the past few months. Finally, I think posters who also just blindly say "Ozzie is the greatest manager" without backing it up with any reason (usually it's just "who else would you bring in. I love him!!11!") are just as bad as the "Juan Pierre argghhh!" posts.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 11:13 AM) If someone tries to mug you with a knife and you show them your gun or draw it, you haven't done anything illegal. Now if you shoot the person as the run away, you've probably committed murder. But you've also exposed your concealed weapon...I seriously don't know the law so Im just wondering how that works. I do know that second part, you can only use so much force as necessary to protect yourself (and shooting a person running away from you is a tad excessive over protecting yourself).

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 10:24 AM) I already can guess how this discussion will turn out, but thoughts? http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/b...0,7086189.story Seems to me any argument about rising crime rates and whatnot are gonna be out the window soon, since the worst states for gun crimes still allow concealed weapons. And this line of thinking just never made sense to me. People using guns for crime aren't exactly following the rules anyway, so now their going to "hide" them? How does that make sense? I've always wondered why someone would be allowed to carry a concealed weapon anyways, if you bring it out to use it or threaten someone by hinting at having a concealed weapon than it becomes illegal use anyways. Right?

Sox "trying to get a return on investment"
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 01:44 PM) As far as Rosner, who cares? Like you said, they were goofing around and filling airtime. I heard it. I thought it was OK. And as far as the Dunn argument, uh, he's right. You don't pinch hit for Dunn ever. It's his opinion and it happens to be right. His Pierre discussion with Gonzales was great. He brought up all the Sox talk points and they both threw out the pros and cons. The bottom line is he's a good host and just because he doesn't agree with you guys on Pierre doesn't mean s***. I really truly don't think Rongey cares what you all think of him. He shouldn't. Fans are fanatics and lunatics and hear what they want to hear. Whether you guys want to believe it or not, Pierre's been hitting about .260 and a lot of guys on the team suck balls worse than Pierre. I can just as easily turn that "fans only see what they want to see" bulls*** right back at you, in fact your probably the worst of them all.

Ozzie or Kenny?
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 02:24 PM) My gosh KW said in the article if he wanted Viciedo it was up to him to meet with the coaching staff and make his case more forcefully. Do some of you even read the articles before posting about articles?? If Kenny really had the power to make Viciedo play everyday then he would. My gosh, can people not read between the lines??

Beckham article
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 02:05 PM) Well...if not that, I wonder if that's an exercise to try to help him keep his eye on the ball a bit better. Many hitters who are able to swing both ways will switch it up to get that "feel" back. Many times a player had learned how to swing the other way at a later time, and generally were being taught perfect mechanics when learning compared to learning as a youngster. Thus, the hitter can get out of their little habits that they may have had before adjusting their swing correctly.

Ozzie or Kenny?
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 02:00 PM) True, but if KW wants Viciedo, like he said in the story, he has to meet with Ozzie and make a stronger case for it. He's the boss or that's what he said in that interview lastyear, that he was Oz's boss. You can say it all you want, but when the owner tells you to follow your subordinate's demands, than your left with 2 options: 1) resign 2) make sure as much blame as possible gets put on said subordinate

Kenny Williams interview
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 01:57 PM) I wish you were a billionaire so that you could start a new MLB franchise called the greg775 Super All Stars. You could have Ozzie manage for you and feature all of your favorite players like Bobby Jenks, Dewayne Wise, Juan Pierre, and Mark Kotsay. AKA last place year in and year out. But Ozzie would be there and well, Ozzie can interview great and says funny things, totally worth it and why we love him, not winning.

Ozzie or Kenny?
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 01:52 PM) Ozzie. Kenny's highest paid guys have flamed out the worst. Rios, Dunn, Peavy. Getting rid of Hudson was insane. If you can't get Jackson for 2-3 lousy minor leaguers, don't make that deal. And paying Viciedo this kind of money to be in the minors is also insane.Bye bye, kenny. That's Ozzie's choice pretty much, or atleast it's become that because of JR's loyalty to Ozzie leading to this ridiculous organizational power struggle.

To sell, or not to sell?
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 01:50 PM) Might be worth more later on. Don't see anything wrong with her selling it, though. Yeah, it's a cool item and it's pretty personal, but $11,000 to feed and clothe your kids is more important than a framed letter. Pretty much what I was thinking. Taking care of your family is worth more by a longshot.

Ozzie or Kenny?
KW, I do appreciate his aggresiveness to a degree. But really, it's because if we bring in a new GM they have to have their choice of manager, whether it's Ozzie or someone else.

Kenny Williams interview
I agree with KW that acquiring talent outside of the organization at this point would be tough in terms of talent you would have to give up and who you are replacing (and salary). He also just put Ozzie on the spotlight in terms of Viciedo again, he has no faith that Viciedo will get sufficient playing time and we all know Ozzie won't admit defeat with JP.

Sox "trying to get a return on investment"
QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 11:43 AM) I may not love Rongey's point of view on this, but he always structures his comments in a well-thought out way and engages in debate even when faced with the wall of idiot-onslaught in the postgame. I'm hoping there's nothing in this thread that would cause him to stop coming here. Lets disagree but not target specific people. I haven't seen any personal attacks on Rongey, so really the only thing that would deter him is if he really believes he can't defend his comments.

Route 53 and 83 had no power this morning, so instead of stoplights it was stop signs. Yea, that was bad, but not as bad as 83 South, that was backed up even farther.
