  1. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jul 13, 2011 -> 11:34 AM) Milkman - just one question. Should Gardenhire be fired if the Twins win the division and get swept? I'll answer it for him, if you're talking about this year then he's MOTY.
  2. QUOTE (FlySox87 @ Jul 13, 2011 -> 10:15 AM) Tell me, what do you think of San Francisco's Hunk Jesus Festival? I've mentioned it before. It's an annual thing where gays get together and mock the Hell out of Christian beliefs. Is that not an example of them being bigoted assholes? Or is it OK because they aren't white, conservative Christians? Tolerance is a two way street. Yet why do I feel you're going to claim this sacrilegious festival is completely acceptable? Please, feel free to prove me wrong. FlySox, I think the biggest problem many people have with you here is that you assume wayyyy to much. You assume he's an atheist, you assume he will hate this, or that, etc. Stop assuming and stereotyping and you may actually learn something, or actually have an insightful discussion and not just personal attacks on posters.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 13, 2011 -> 09:06 AM) So you don't want Viciedo up here? Bulls*** and you should know it.
  4. I'll take a look at it if I have power at home tonight. Yahoo fantasy is blocked at work.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 05:48 PM) If they throw a way literally a once in a generation chance, they are completely f***ed with the fan base. The thing is, the fan base is almost gone anyways. What they need to do is not throw in all their chips for a chance to be a playoff team (or more likely just above .500), but to build towards a team that can win 3-5 divisions. That sustained success is what will really be the revenue maker for the organization.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 10:16 PM) Are the people who do internship interviews for your company typically HR people, or regular workers? I only ask because I interviewed with your company a year or two ago, and the guy seemed decently competent (actually I take that back, he forgot his business cards). I think it was for some generic sounding "Supply Chain Analyst" position. Interviews are conducted by a range of managers who most likely will be in the pool of managers actually hiring the people, giving them the chance to see who they actually like. Of course, some of the managers put forth more effort (even in the interview stage) when it comes to bringing in interns, and some don't take it as seriously as they really should. I was fortunate to have been interviewed by who is now m manager and sr. manager, and I connected with them really well. I am also very fortunate to be under management that actually cares about the intern and their progression and I have been active in improving the intern program to make sure that every intern has the same experience I have had last summer and this summer. Im actually shocked by your interview though, SC here has a very solid program for interns and they usually have their act together. It's departments that we are expanding the intern program into that seem to struggle more with it.
  7. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 02:22 PM) Rather than tossing out apples vs oranges, how about we toss out oranges vs oranges. I have no problem with a gay/lesbian couple walking together in a park, and if they have a child, so be it. Just as I have no problem with a straight couple walking together in a park with a child. ^^ Apples | Apples ^^ I do have a problem with gay pride parades...just as I'd have a problem with straight pride parades if they existed. Just as I have a problem with douchebag frat boys prancing around like asshats, I dislike when I have to see weirdo flamboyant gays doing the same. ^^ Apples | Apples ^^ The problem is that many gay/lesbian couples CAN'T go walking together in the park (with/without their child) and not have a much stronger chance of hearing insults/threats or actually being confronted by someone who is against them being together (especially with a child). It's events like these that put events like pride parades into action.
  8. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 12:55 PM) Steve, Russ, you guys have a gay relative? Or what's the reason for your over-sensitivity and hyperbole? I have a few close friends who came out, including one of my best friends since childhood who has come out and said he was bi. I also have been involved intensively in university housing as an intern who focused on social justice leadership education as well as a resident advisor.
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 12:51 PM) That wasn't my intent. I know not every gay is that way. But some are really loud about it. I couldn't be around that every day. J4L, I'll just sum it up like this: Personality =/= sexuality.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 12:50 PM) That was the best example of 'loud' gay folk I could come up with off the top of my head. And I know a lot of gays personally that act just that way I know a few guys who like to abuse girls, doesn't mean all guys like to abuse girls.
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 12:48 PM) When in doubt, let's pull the race card. Like I said, if your brother wasn't gay you wouldn't be nearly as anal about this. But having a brother that is gay has given him more experiences and such to share from. It's not just that he may be biased, but that he actually has real life examples to back up his points, he can actually tell you the emotional impact it would have on a child if his/her parents would be embarassed by them being gay.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 12:45 PM) Yes, I wouldn't want to live with a Big Gay Al clone. You're blanketing an entire community into a specific South Park character which is already ridiculous. Most gays don't act that way, in fact many are just as "normal" as you and I in every day situations.
  13. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 12:36 PM) Just a question out of curiosity, say you are going away to college and you have a random roomate, would you consider it wrong for said incoming freshman to prefer to not live with a gay roomate? I would not consider it wrong for them to initially think that, since society tends to promote such thoughts. That said, it is why many university housing departments force freshmen to stay in their assigned room for the first 4 weeks or so, so that they can actually experience it, learn from it, and hopefully find out a way to deal with it (or actually enjoy the experience). I would say that if a person has even a slightly open mind that most situations that I saw as an RA that the person who thought he couldn't live with a homosexual turned into a better and more accepting person because of the situation.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 11:09 AM) Sister Lakes, just outside of Dowagiac. They are putting up a Verizon Tower in 2 years which will change the coverage, but for now, I love the black hole of cell service. Nice, haven't been to that exact area but I've spent plenty of time in the Decatur/St. Joe area (my brother lives in St. Joe now). Our place is just a bit north of you in Covert/South Haven.
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 11:08 AM) lol. This is why I stay out of here. Good, I'll stop seeing your sigs so much so I can stop daydreaming what it would be like to have such talented young players.
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 11:02 AM) So I'd be more tolerant if I were white? Are you republican or democrat?
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 11:01 AM) Hey, you gotta take the good with the bad when you make that choice. And I'll never believe for a second that people are born gay. GMAB. Mankind would end if everybody were gay. I believe it's a combination of environment, influences, lack of a strong male figure, boredom, curiosity (this is almost always the case with women), etc. I gotta disagree here J4L, some people are just wired differently. Im sure their is a nature/nurture combination that influences most when it comes to sexuality. Just look at psychopaths, they are wired completely different but they are still human. Fortunately not everyone is the same, and we're not all raging murderers. Gays are just a small minority and won't really have an impact on the world population.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 10:41 AM) So at my house in michigan (SW) we have basically zero cell service outside of some EDGE ATT connectivity. Its alarmingly relaxing when you are "off the grid." Yea, at my family's cottage in SW Michigan only Verizon had good 3g coverage, everybody else was too "spotty." It was great not having any tv, cellphone, computers to worry about and just focus on family and relaxing at the beach. BTW, where is your house?
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 10:52 AM) In the short run, it would make us worse. Yes, it would, but only if you look at it in that scope. If you expand it to include the players that we would acquire for CQ then suddenly the talent gain for the Sox could easily outweigh just having CQ on the roster.
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 10:28 AM) He's so good they named the league after him. Uff Booooooooooo-bs
  21. Mike Minor sounds good to me, love his potential and his performance through the minors.
  22. Still no power or water. Fun fun fun.
  23. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 11, 2011 -> 04:38 PM) Why would we trade Jackson for anything less than a quality prospect. It is highly likely that he wouldn't accept arbitration and the White Sox would thus get draft picks. Draft pick, singular. Atleast at the current state.
  24. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jul 11, 2011 -> 03:37 PM) Call me stupid or easily sated, but I was somehow conditioned to enjoy division titles for what they are. If one doesn't enjoy winning the division than I would question their fandom. But at the same time, winning a division shouldn't blind oneself from the weaknesses of the team nor the environment that they won in. Once your season is done, it's done. The organization needs to move on quickly and keep assessing what they do well, where they need to improve, and what they can feasibly accomplish to put themselves in the best position to win in the next season. Keeping Ozzie, even if we win the division this year, may not be the best choice for the team to compete next year.
  25. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 11, 2011 -> 03:34 PM) All i'm saying is that the outlandish stuff he has posted isn't any more outlandish than what others have posted. I just think the response he got was a little over the top. And he should be held to the same rules that others have been held too. I must say though, he sparks lots of discussion on here which has been interesting to read to get different perspectives.
