Huge win, that's a tough first road game for a young team. It feels great having a coach that prepares well for end of game situations and can adjust well at halftime.

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 24, 2013 -> 08:49 PM) Awful loss. Would've been nice if GR3 didn't get hurt but still should've beat that team. Maybe it's just me, but there seems to have been a lot of early losses this year for bigger programs.

Has Hahn waited too long to act or letting the market
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 24, 2013 -> 05:46 PM) The St. Louis Cardinals GM, John Mozeliak hasn't waited long to try to make upgrades to try and steer the Cardinals to long term success. I realize the Card's situation is vastly different than the Sox. Do you think Hahn and the Sox had talks about Alexei ? Was the asking price too high ? Did Mozeliak think Peralta was a better option for 4/$52M than Alexei was for 2/$20 M and giving up a prospect ? The Cards also traded for Bourjos, one of my offseason targets . So both moves eliminated Alexei going to the Cards and the possibilty ,however remote, of Bourjos coming here since we have no idea if Hahn had Bourjos on his "big board". Does the signing of Peralta and Jason Vargas make guys like Santiago and Alexei more valuable ? Does anyone think Hahn is too busy asking for the moon and letting other teams worsen his position by acting now on their needs ? I know it's very early in the offseason but a lot is going on so I'd like to know what everyone is thinking. Dude, it's not even December yet...

Dollar Shave Club
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 21, 2013 -> 10:45 PM) The razor goes with me into the shower at the gym. I've done this long enough that I don't need a mirror. The hot ass shower opens my poors and it saves time. I started doing this when I went abroad, the dorm I was staying in had communal bathrooms and the only hot water was in the shower (sinks were only cold water). I do it all the time now, it saves time/mess from doing it over the sink.

Pre-Winter Meetings Best Course of Action
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Nov 18, 2013 -> 07:07 PM) If I had a billion dollar asset I would not sweat an additional $10M expenditure. Unless, of course, you don't actually have $10 million just laying around.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 18, 2013 -> 04:54 PM) How about if you use their revenues? We really have no idea how accurate Forbes is, but it has been SOP for the White Sox to say every dime that comes in goes out, then say they are at their budget limit, only to add payroll later. Maybe it is silly to base a teams' ability to add payroll based on their Forbes value, but it is equally as silly to base it on what the team is telling you. No, it still isn't that silly.

Pre-Winter Meetings Best Course of Action
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Nov 18, 2013 -> 03:01 PM) I think we should look at the Sox as a billion dollar business and not a mom and pop outfit. You need to go read up on company finances before posting anything more in regards to this topic.

QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Nov 15, 2013 -> 04:31 PM) Lol at ILL fans saying KU "upped" their offer. Well as bossi and Meyer said earlier today, you're basically admitting your staff was willing to pay him too. Terrible day for Illinois. Cliff said Lyle is attending KU with him, there were a few ways for them to up their offer.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 15, 2013 -> 11:28 AM) Right, I dont think either school did anything wrong here whatsoever. Personally, I'm most upset with Snider's dad. His dad should've handled all of this with more class.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 15, 2013 -> 11:25 AM) Bolded the most important part of your post. Its not like that anymore. With nationally televised decisions and multiple recruit ranking websites the game has changed. Until someone signs their LOI its free game. And recruits particularly HATE when coaches completely back off once they've committed. "Now since I said I was coming there you dont care about me or come to any of my games? Coach X says I will always be important to him, now im thinking about flipping." FYI, Snider's coach said that Illinois didn't do anything wrong in this recruitment, implying that they kept in good contact and had a good relationship still with Snider, but LOU was his dream school still.

QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Nov 15, 2013 -> 11:17 AM) C'mon now, rock! illinois is squeaky clean and ONLY does things in the most proper, respectful manner!!! Illinois football vulture story just last year? I know our programs aren't squeaky clean, I'm sure there are boosters trying to do whatever they can to get Cliff committed. I'm sure the staff is also not afraid to reevaluate a kid's position on the team if they recruited a better player. I just don't see anything wrong with Illinois in this particular scenario.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 15, 2013 -> 11:14 AM) So ILL was in contact with his coach? Where did he get the film? I understand the upset, but to think committed kids arent on team's radars is ridiculous. Recruiting is crazy and fluid, and coaches continue to text and speak with kids no matter when or where they've verballed. You never know when a teenage kid will change his mind, a coach will leave or anything of the sort. So you want to make sure you still have that connection. Clearly LOU kept in touch. This reportedly was after they initially contacted him when he reopened. I have no idea if they contacted him beforehand, but I'm not going to speculate that they did when there is nothing remotely showing that they did. This is all internet rumor, but apparently Pitino reached out to QS' dad this week and he was still interested in hearing them out which got the ball rolling. His dad was initially quoted as being very receptive to LOU re-recruiting him initially, and is a big time LOU fan.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 15, 2013 -> 11:08 AM) Fair enough, but he was still being recruited like every other kid while committed. If there is a top kid somewhere, coaches are calling him. I'm betting ILL didnt come out of the blue, I bet they'd had contact in the background since his soph year when he first committed. Not really, Illinois wasn't on his radar until his coach told his dad to check out some film of theirs. They barely listed Illinois as a school that reached out when re reopened, they were pretty much focused on Indiana at first.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 04:51 PM) To me it seems like "netflix on the go" and nothing else. Which is pretty cool. For the cost it's not bad, but I agree with Jenks, there's too much potential for it to only be Netflix and youtube. Any cloud music player should be able to use it (especially apps like Amazon Cloud Player) and more video players should be available.

QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 01:48 PM) Which makes Rooks reporting Kansas was out last night even more confusing. If you look at this past week, there has been a "development" almost everyday. Whether it's seeing his gf play at KU, Rooks reporting she feels it's down to Illinois/Depaul, and now his mom saying he made up his mind, there's been something new to keep people hooked. I think it was just another step in a planned out schedule for building up interest in his commitment, I don't think it really means they are out or are locks.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 01:41 PM) Though it's so odd that people have been switching back to Kansas when that Taylor Rooks chick said she thought it was down to Illinois and Depaul. Yea, I'm not really sure how to interpret her article. I don't think she would even put her opinion out there if Cliff didn't like it, he pretty much is controlling what she's reporting (benefiting both parties right now). If KU really has lost out on Jones/Okafor then they will push for Cliff and do anything necessary to get him, that scares me (think Wiggins over UK last year). I can't count them out because who knows what they had up their sleeves this past week. Meanwhile, Illinois makes so much sense for him and Groce has done a great job recruiting him. I'm trying to temper my hopes because this recruitment has been as crazy as any in terms of guesses to where he's going. Cliff has played this recruitment perfectly in terms of drumming up excitement for his decision, it's aggravating as an Illinois fan but I understand why he's doing it.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 12:54 PM) Link They are just guessing that's the reason, there are no actual stats showing that is the reason they are leaving. It very well could be since it's the hot issue, but it's all a guess without actually taking surveys of those players leaving the program or surveying potential players' parents.

Atlanta Braves to leave Turner Field
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 12:47 PM) Playing the part of the ignorant devils advocate here, wouldnt a stadium in their county create a positive economic impact down the line? There has to be some sort of money that the team will be giving to the county in taxes that will help their financial woes, right? It's been pretty much debunked that cities recoup their investment in stadiums.
