QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 14, 2014 -> 03:24 PM) I'm debating whether or not to drop $50 bucks and buy the two Walking Dead compendiums. Normally $120 for both. $50 seems like so much though when I could download them for free. Meh, I bought them each for around $30 awhile back and love having both. Friends and family have borrowed them alot.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 11, 2014 -> 07:57 PM) Demetrius Jackson, the big basketball recruit that Illinois just missed out on, apparently is not with Notre Dame at their game tonight. Not even in the building. Speculation is he's leaving ND. Supposed to find out what happened from Brey after the game. Academics, but he was considered a strong student in HS. Could be legit, could also be a cover. Who knows, I would love him as a transfer since you get him for 3 years still and he has a ton of time to develop but I'm not banking on that happening. -
QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 11, 2014 -> 01:27 PM) Great post. I agree wholeheartedly. I've got a ton of different workouts I've tried and it's great to chose the ones that work best for you, that you can live with and sustain, and work into your schedule. Everyone is unique. The key is to do something two-four times a week along with a reasonable diet. Yea I was just curious about these classes, I know they personalize it for each person and everything. I'll do the free class and see, if anything it's a free trainer led workout. I've been doing a cycling class lately once a week to get a different kind of cardio workout in and that's been kicking my ass and a nice change of pace from my other workouts.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Feb 11, 2014 -> 08:25 AM) Is that crossfit? X-IT apparently Interval Training

I took the Red in for training for a week (Morse to Grand) and it was terrible. I always had a seat in the morning but around Fullerton I would have some guy's crotch shoved in my face. I usually stayed late to finish regular work and to avoid the rushes, but by then it was filled with the usual drunks and the crazies.

Anybody do the Xfit or X-IT or whatever it's called at Xsport before? Signed up for a free class for Wednesday, a guy was trying to sell it hard to us and it's not crazy expensive but was wondering if anyone has done it here.

Sports Illustrated Ranks Sox #2 in Best MLB Offseason List

Nice to see the recognition, hopefully we see some good progress from the youngsters this year to back them up. -
Damn nice man, how many lbs is that?

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 10, 2014 -> 11:14 AM) That makes me jealous It's costing us more but with a lack of public transportation there we were forced to do that if we wanted to do it. Figured we probably werent going back to that area (if we do it'll be a long time) so it was worth the extra money to do it. Our plan is looking like this: Scotland/whiskey tour London Dublin Prague Paris Belgium Filling in a lot of places that we didnt see in our last trip out.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 10, 2014 -> 12:25 PM) +1. Invest in yourself as much as you can. Once you let yourself go too far there is no coming back. Im pretty much at the point where if I dont do something now, it will be really difficult for me to get in shape again. I'm still athletic enough to play 4-5 games of basketball in a row, but I cant really run any sort of long distance anymore. I'm very much a goal based person, so I want to drop some weight and then start training for a 5k, and hopefully start building up to longer races. That way I'm continuously pushing myself.

Ha Reddy, just go cold turkey on that game. Ive fallen into periods were I get obsessed with that game, and since each round is only 30-60 minutes you keep thinking you can play another one. Going cold turkey and doing other things helps get out of that funk. So I've been trying to drop some pounds, blew up in college due to injuries and drinking. I've been doing a lot of cardio lately, me and my roommate are doing a cycling class every monday, holy hell is it intense. I do stationary biking quite often and get a good workout but the class is on a whole different level.

QUOTE (The Baconator @ Feb 9, 2014 -> 10:38 PM) I don't see an alcohol thread started so I'll just add this here. Anyone in here a whiskey drinker? Like, good whiskey? Yesterday I went to a whiskey tasting in Cambridge, MA and had my mind blown. I had looked at the list before going (there were something like 90 varieties to try) and I saw this place Koval from Chicago, figured I would give them the cursory attempt. Turns it's amazing. Like, truly great. For reference, my previous favorites are things like Blanton's, Eagle Rare, and Bulleit. I tried Koval's bourbon, oat, rye, 4 grains, and white rye. There were a bunch of other $60 whiskeys at the tasting, and Koval had 3 of my top 5 I tried all day. It runs about $50 a bottle but totally worth it. I checked out their twitter account and it sounds like they do tastings around downtown Chicago pretty frequently, if you want to try it out before dropping $50. I seriously suggest anyone who enjoys a whiskey to check it out. Great stuff. And after reading through everything I just said, no this is not a paid advertisement haha. I just really love bourbon, and this brand I had never previously heard of has pretty much ruined a lot of other bourbons for me now (and has turned me to rye as well). It's very good stuff, you can go to the distillery in the ravenswood area as well (my roommate did that). Also, Binny's once had their oat whiskey on clearance for $25 for a 750ml bottle, snatched that right up.

Starting off our eurotrip with a 4 day whiskey tour in Scotland, including two days on the Isle of Islay. Cannot wait for this trip.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 5, 2014 -> 09:36 AM) My neighborhood search was limited to wherever the L was. Its why I ended up in Oak Park. Great place to raise a family, had a blast growing up there. One down side to where I work, if I decide to stay there then I'm stuck with the North/Northwest suburbs.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 5, 2014 -> 09:39 AM) The Stone Davis brothers have left campus. We know how that goes. Doubt they ever return. The one bro is definitely a big loss Jihad Ward the best player in the class is rumored to be wavering to WVU. Who knows but he hasn't sent in his LOI. SD brothers left because of academic reasons, from what I read they are coming back still, maybe that's wrong. Doesn't Ward have a signing day event? -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 5, 2014 -> 09:05 AM) Sounds like Illinois is going to get spurned on signing day by some of the best parts of their already awful class. I cannot believe Beckman still has a job. Wait what? I hadn't heard any of this.... -
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Feb 3, 2014 -> 02:34 PM) The White Sox are a rebuilding team with money. Isn't exploiting market inefficiencies what smart teams should do? So far there are 30 non-smart teams then, there's a reason why teams aren't signing these guys.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 29, 2014 -> 09:15 AM) I do that with snow blowing/shoveling too but its definitely more work. My yard is tiny, I bet sitting on riding mower with a cold one in a large yard is awesome. I had 4 acres of hilly grass in Ann Arbor, it was fun driving around on the John Deere the first few times, but after that it got old spending hours cutting the grass every other weekend.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 27, 2014 -> 09:08 AM) So I opted in for that. What I can't figure out is, do you know if I have to opt in for my initial reward? I believe it's spend your first 500, get 100 back. I can find how to opt into that though. Is it just automatic? It was automatic for me when I signed up a few years ago.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jan 24, 2014 -> 03:44 PM) Sounds good to me, but the economies of Miami, New Orleans, Phoenix and Texas all pretty much depend on having a Super Bowl every 4-6 years. Would be hard to take that away from three of the four. It can be a floating stadium!

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Jan 23, 2014 -> 11:28 AM) That comment about Indians and affording stuff took an enviable amount of balls to say. Seriously, the f***ing stones on that guy to actually say that! If that was my CEO I would start looking for a new job instantly. That comment reeks more of desperation/frustration then trying to change the world, I would have little confidence in the future of that company.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jan 24, 2014 -> 09:49 AM) http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/01/23/d..._n_4651700.html? 16-year-old black kid in Philly walking around with HS basketball teammates, gets stopped and frisked, is accused of resisting arrest. He now has a ruptured testicle that he says he received while an arresting officer brutalizing his genitals. His legal team is trying to clear the charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and reckless endangerment as he says they are false. The boys were exiting the bus to enter their gym and were bundled up with team-issued scarves, gloves, hats. One of the boys made "a snide remark" to the police officer and they all scurried away. Police officer reported they were all wearing ski masks, which was false. Victim/suspect ran for a moment, thought better of it, and stopped. Should have kept running. After spending 8 hours in jail, his parents bailed him out and got him emergency surgery. Arresting officer has had multiple complaints of making baseless arrests. The cop went way to far it sounds like, however, that kid (which ever one it was) should not be antagonizing the cop. Not saying that justifies what the cop did, but it just opens the door for a bad situation.

QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 03:59 PM) Groce reminds me of Crean, except crazier on the sidelines and maybe not as good of a recruiter. Not a bad coach, but like Crean, you just don't see him ever winning the big one. Indiana sells better than Illinois, Crean has pulled in better recruits thus far so that's probably a fair assessment but like I said he has the advantage when it comes to selling to recruits on school brand alone. Groce needs to get those difference maker type guys in his program, a Cliff or Charles Matthews type guy. If he can't have a big season with someone like that (a consensus top 15/20 player) then I'll start wondering if he's a good enough in game coach to win it.
