QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 17, 2014 -> 09:29 AM) Yeah I started to last night. I mean I know stuff happens, but it's not nearly as cool as the stuff in the first 3 books. The action definitely dies down, and there are definite lulls, however when I reread book 4 &5 I really appreciated their storylines more.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 17, 2014 -> 09:12 AM) And Pyke (hopefully) I REALLY hope they spend a decent amount of time on the Greyjoy storyline. Lots of interesting characters there that would be worthwhile of the time.
  4. I've been playing destiny alpha for the past week, interested to see the single player side more but liking the game overall.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 16, 2014 -> 12:00 PM) Zach Putnam might be the overall MVP of the bullpen so far this year. I absolutely love seeing him succeed, I still thought he was a better hitter than pitcher in HS but very cool to see him now on my favorite team.
  6. So long overdue, but I wanted to share some reviews from my trip to Europe. Scotland- Went on a great 4 day whiskey tour, it started from Edinburgh and went through the Highlands to make our way to the Isle of Islay. We saw 6 of the 8 distilleries on the Isle: Kilchoman - (the newest one, completely independent). Keep an eye out for their whiskey as it starts to get a chance to age more. While it tasted young, the flavors present were fantastic and can't wait to have it in the future. Bruichladdich - fantastic and fun revolving styles. They like to produce very different styles but on limited basis, so they are always trying new ones. Their gin, The Botanist, is the best gin I've ever had and I HIGHLY recommend it for anyone who likes gin. G&T and FlaSox, looking at you guys (and hoping Jim is still around, haven't seen him on here lately). Bowmore - very good, dependable whiskey, their flagship 12 is great but we tried some of their older whiskeys and they were flat out amazing. Best part is we stayed in the old distiller's house right next to the distillery in the town of Bowmore on the Isle. Great place, on a beach, and next to a distillery, I didn't want to leave. Ardbeg - one of the coolest tours since you could pay for a 5 sample tasting. We tried some very rare bottles (one was a limited release where they used burned bourbon casks and the whiskey just turned out perfect). It was great to be able to try these, you pretty much can only find that one style online and it'll be a pretty penny. Lagavulin - What can I say, it's the best. The Lagavulin 16 and Lagavulin 16 Distillers edition were served along with their 12 yr (meant to be harsher, wasn't a fan as I prefer the smoothness). While a conservative company, they know what they do well and they are some of the best at it. They also were very generous where they pretty much let the group serve themselves to the 3 bottles. LaPhroaig - The best tour experience, made it very fun with small gimmicks but were great. If you signed up for their Friends of Laphroaig they gave you a taster bottle of their 10 yr and a 1ft by 1ft parcel of land on the bogs across from the distillery. Gimmicky, but it was a lot of fun (and free for that portion). Their 10 yr is surprisingly smooth for it's age, and the 18 we got to try is phenomenal. If anyone is ever looking for a fun trip, I highly suggest going to Scotland to do this. There are a few companies that have these tours, we used Rabbies, and it was a great blend of sightseeing, whiskey tasting, and history. They keep the groups somewhat small (van of 15 people + tour guide(s)) and really plan it out well. My brother and I really want to send our parents on the trip when my dad retires. Some pics from the trip:
  7. That one's for Wite. Congrats guys!
  8. Wow, so young. He was a great player to watch growing up. RIP

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 16, 2014 -> 10:03 AM) Agreed on the back story with Tyrion and Tysha. That really set up for me in the books why Tywin had to go after seeing Shea there. I'm surprised they didn't add that. It would have taken another 2 minutes. All and all I think this was the best season so far. Last year had a better total season arc, but this year a lot of fun things happened that really got the story moving. Lot's of stuff to go into besides those (book 5 spoilers): And I'm sure I'm missing quite a bit in there and they will be adding storylines as needed. I'm excited with how they did last season, some of the new material was a little weak but for the most part it really did fill in well. I'm hoping they continue to do that to keep the storyline moving well even when there isn't much big going on.

GoT covered a ton in that episode.
  11. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 12, 2014 -> 10:45 PM) That's so refreshing in the era of patent trolling. Tesla is an awesome company and I'd totally get one if the infrastructure for electric cars improve. My hope is that by 2017/2018 the infrastructure is much better (helps that my company has 5 chargers to use in our parking lot) and the GIII model is a great car and somewhat reasonably priced with options.
  12. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 12, 2014 -> 09:20 PM) I take it back. Holy hell is that a miniscule streaming library: http://geeksided.com/2014/06/12/amazon-lau...ify-competitor/ (I wrote this) Woah didnt realize it was that small....hopefully they keep adding because that's pretty abysmal actually.
  13. Amazon Prime now has PrimeMusic included. 1 million + songs free to stream. Will definitely have to check it out and will probably cancel my google play music account.
  14. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 05:55 PM) I'm all for trading Beckham as long as we get something more than a Leury Garcia or a Matt Davidson for him. Um, Matt Davidson was considered one of the best 3b prospects in the game. I would deal Gordon for a top 100 spect, at a position of need, playing in AA instantly. Actually faster.
  15. Ok so I missed the bolded: That is explicit. The other quotes to me were much more general and not nearly specific enough to say that he explicitly said that. Did I still think he's an asshole for not shooting that down immediately? You bet.
  16. Lolz at the cherry picking and misconstruing of quotes. Pretty clear to me that he did not say stoning homosexuals was ok or agreeable. The quote sounds more like he believes in the death penalty, but it read more like a general quote that he believes in the death penalty than if he thinks homosexuals should be executed for being gay.
  17. My 16in coed team blows, fortunately the girls we have and play against tend to be hot and we get to day drink so that makes up for the fact that only me and one other guy can hit.
  18. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 03:22 PM) Yeah thats two F picks in a row. Oh well who cares Hopefully they start feeling comfortable with their pool money left and can start targeting better players. Still, very happy with this draft so far.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 03:22 PM) That is true, although they rarely pay it. Shawon Dunston had to sue the Cubs to get his tuition money. Well that is the Cubs....
  20. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 03:06 PM) Spencer should take the money and start his pro career. If things don't work out he has more than enough bonus money to go to college with. FYI, they typically include a clause in these contracts that the team would pay for their college education if they don't pan out.
  21. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 01:19 PM) Draft grades: http://www.sbnation.com/mlb/2014/6/6/57863...014-first-round Chicago White Sox MLB DRAFT 2014 MLB Draft live draft tracker Here's the best left-hander ever selected third overall: Steve Avery. The second best is Brian Anderson, and I'm not even sure which one. Eighteen percent of the #3 picks never made the majors at all; 47 percent of #3 picks have a career WAR under 1. Yet the White Sox are going to pay close to $5.7 million for Rodon. It's like these teams are pretending the history of these picks doesn't exist. Horrible pick. Best-case scenario: Randy Johnson Middle-case scenario: Jeremy Affeldt Worst-case scenario: Brien Taylor Grade: F
  22. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 01:12 PM) Great work, we need to get to the bottom of this. Maybe we already are. Isn't the "catcher" always the "bottom"? Anyway this guy needs to help us get Rodon signed. Girlfriends, bottoms, all these things. Let's get this guy in the pen. Downs, see ya later. Maybe he isn't a powerbottom.
  23. Beat the last undefeated team in the league 25-2, absolutely smoked these guys (can't believe they were undefeated). When we have our full lineup we shouldn't lose to anyone.
  24. QUOTE (gatnom @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 11:00 AM) All of these rumors are meaningless until visits start happening. Wasn't it just a couple weeks ago that he was a lock to MSU? Yup, it'll be interesting who he takes visits too. My guess: Illinois Nova MSU Kansas UM
  25. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 10:58 AM) Rumor that Nova is leader for Brunson. Wha? He seems to be interested in going back east and Jay Wright loves his guards.
