  1. Huge news!! Excited to see how quickly he moves through the system.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 05:04 PM) Missouri just hired Illinois Oline coach AJ Ricker. Thoughts? Good coach, knew Cubit's offense inside and out which really helped us. The timing is going to kill us, no great replacements that really know and understand Cubit's offense at this point, fortunately it sounds like our OL recruits (specifically Megginson) aren't jumping ship with this. that would set us back so far.
  3. Illinois picks up Sam Mays, WR from Texas. Good couple of days for us.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 5, 2014 -> 07:58 PM) Sorry, "seems" based on the info thats been coming out all along. Just trying to temper expectations. I hope you guys get him. Our best hope is that UK decides to pursue others and gets those commitments, Bragg then feels recruited over and doesn't have clear playing time and decides he loves Illinois' pitch of being the man on campus. Slim chances still, but possible.
  5. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 24, 2014 -> 03:44 PM) Boozer and Noah are the only amnesty-eligible players as they were the only contracts signed before the most recent CBA Ah, didn't know that contingency, thanks.
  6. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 24, 2014 -> 03:27 PM) No; I think I had a question on that post but I find it hard to believe you'd have to give up someone like Nik to trade MJD (who is on a very fair contract) or Snell. Are you telling me there is no team in the league that would want any of those guys in a salary dump? I call BS. I've been thinking the same thing, plus if the Bulls trade Boozer as an expiring contract couldn't they amnesty one of those guys anyways (if it really came down to it)?

    Job Hunt Thread

QUOTE (Tex @ Jun 24, 2014 -> 02:48 PM) Starting in August I will be the head golf coach and English IV teacher at a San Antonio high school. It was my #1 district choice, my #1 coaching choice, and my #1 teaching choice. I mean it doesn't compare to getting an admin spot here, but it still is pretty nice. There is a freshman player coming in that was last year's 8th grade champion. Now if I can find a couple more to build a team . . . Relocating is going to be a struggle. Congrats and goodluck!

    Job Hunt Thread

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 23, 2014 -> 03:44 PM) Forbes People who stay with the same company for more than 2 years make 50% less... I can see that, HR here seemingly has no issues changing job titles of open management positions to higher levels to attract more talent but they are much more stringent in promoting current employees. I'm currently more than 15% below HR's market range for my position, really the only way I could put pressure on them to give me a raise is to look for another job, otherwise they know they are getting a bargain.
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 06:59 PM) One of my friends makes around $70k in LA, he barely breaks even and he's only paying $1200 for rent. Ouch. I knew someone who had an offer from Google out of school, could make $100k in Chicago or $140k in Cali, now I know why.
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 12:42 PM) DJ Williams is killing it this summer. Won MVP of some tourney in Dubai. Also beat Montverde. Something has clicked for him, hopefully it continues and he stays aggressive. He's got so much talent and potential, could be a great one for the Illini.
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 19, 2014 -> 11:44 PM) I'd go lower. It's the worst kept secret that he's big blue. Don't even fret over him. Hey I was drinking the orange coolaid (when am I not). Just get me a PG and one of Bragg or Thomas and I will dance nekked around the house.
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 19, 2014 -> 03:28 PM) I've found walking around neighborhoods looking for "for rent" signs is usually best deal/living situation in Chicago. Not sure about Columbus. Also adore http://www.padmapper.com/# for searching for apts. Basically brings in craigslist/other data into google maps api. Great advice here, get to know the 'hood and use padmapper for listings. Makes it so much easier to see where each apartment is and the filter is pretty great to find exactly what you're looking for (or close to it).
  14. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 19, 2014 -> 01:28 PM) Sweet, we can be the bridesmaid again. He's been talking us up quite a bit, but to me it seems like he's pressuring UK/KU to up their recruiting on him. I'd give us about a 20% chance right now to land him, possible but still a longshot.
  15. Bragg says Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky will be on final list, other spots are open but those 3 are on it. Not getting my hopes up too much, but good to see Illinois named alongside those 2 schools.
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 10:24 AM) There's a Mizzou guy in the group, yet you still go after the fellow Illini? For shame... Ha good catch.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 09:52 AM) 4 of these guys are cool, one sucks. I will let you all figure out who that is. I instantly thought me, but then remembered littlehurt is in the group.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 17, 2014 -> 04:20 PM) What's the scholly count? Not sure on the specific count right now, but there wasn't any talk of being over.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 17, 2014 -> 03:44 PM) There has to be something else to it, if he met NCAA standards they would let him in as would every other team in conference other than NW. Article
  20. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 17, 2014 -> 03:32 PM) Matt Domer denied admission to Illinois and not enrolled. Beckman pretty much throwing the admissions office under the bus publicly, I like it. It's been rumored that we've lost 2 recruits alone this recruiting season due to admissions not letting them in (they committed to other big ten schools who were happy to let them in). If Illinois wants to be serious about having the football program succeed, then they need to loosen their academic standards (released that Domer made the NCAA academic standards).
  21. QUOTE (TRU @ Jun 17, 2014 -> 02:13 PM) So why don't teams just take the tough sign guys earlier so their slot is better than 100K and they don't have to worry about scraping up funds from other savings to offer more? Why not just take BMDO in round 5 and offer him $375,000+ instead of taking him in round 13 and hoping you can offer him the same amount by cutting costs earlier in the draft? Especially if it's a HS player who really wants to go to college then you're risking losing that pick completely. Most teams want to make sure they are getting some talent guaranteed and will take the riskier player later, so if the hard to sign guy doesnt come then they aren't completely devoid of talent.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 17, 2014 -> 09:53 AM) I bet there is very little of Danny next season. Especially if she won't get nekked anymore.
