From my experience (I am in the electronics field), China is great at copying things, but terrible at creating new electrical technologies. Maybe that will change soon, but in the last 10-12 years that is kinda how it has been.

I have a younger sister and a younger brother. On the other hand, the Brain is the youngest and has an older sister and two older brothers.

Story at NBC5.com FAIRFAX, Va. -- He's already on death row for one of the sniper killings -- but now a Fairfax County judge has dismissed charges against convicted sniper John Allen Muhammad in a second capital murder trial related to the shooting spree. In a ruling released today, Judge Langhorne Keith tossed out the charges, saying prosecutors violated Muhammad's right to a speedy trial. Muhammad was charged in the Oct. 14, 2002, killing of FBI analyst Linda Franklin in a Falls Church, Va., Home Depot parking lot. Keith said prosecutors waited too long to bring Muhammad to trial. Defense lawyers said Muhammad's trial should have begun months ago under a Virginia law that requires a suspect's trial to begin within five months of arrest, unless the defendant waives that right. But prosecutors and defense attorneys disagree on when Muhammad was technically placed under arrest. One of Muhammad's attorneys said the defense team has been mindful of those affected by the sniper shootings as they pursued "the rule of law" in their appeal. Jonathan Shapiro said, "We well remember the victims in these cases and the families who suffered so greatly." Muhammad was sentenced to death last year for killing Dean Meyers near Manassas, Va. Fairfax during the October 2002 sniper shooting spree. Prosecutors have said they wanted another capital murder conviction in case the first one was overturned. A total of 10 people were killed in Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia.

I haven't bid on anything w/ ebay in about a year. The last time I had bid on something on ebay was a kermit doll from the 70s (just like one that I had that had to be thrown own when I was a kid). It wasn't because of that experience that I did, just sellers in general. Brian bids on car parts often and they love to harass you to get the payment (which generally starts after they have received the money and the part is in the house waiting to be installed). I guess the best way to put is that I have soured on ebay a great deal between sellers and their friends who hike up the prices.

That's how all the old (as opposed to the configuration on I-355) are now. I am grateful that the ones that I go through on the tri-state that used to be trucks only can have trucks and cars go through it - it helps a tiny bit.
-
You got a problem with pork projects?!

I have no problem with tolls, but I do have issues with non-IPASS using people more. I travel on Indiana and Ohio's tollway occasionally and I know it would piss me off to know I was paying twice as much as the next guy because I don't have their version of an IPASS. The numbers of trucks on the tri-state during rush hour is unreal. As EvilMonkey mentioned, if they can offer lower rates for trucks to travel at non-rush hour times that would help a great deal. I like that they are going to make the other toll stops similar to the ones on 355 - those are painless to get through (not considering rush hour of course lol).

No it was because Bush is a bumbling fool. Kerry owned last night.

Tollway Authority Approves Rebuilding Plan Tollway Authority Approves Rebuilding Plan POSTED: 8:44 am CDT September 30, 2004 UPDATED: 12:30 pm CDT September 30, 2004 CHICAGO -- The board of directors for the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority unanimously approved a $5.3 billion plan Thursday to rebuild the state's tollway system and eliminated its congested toll plazas. Under the plan, tolls will double starting in January for drivers who aren't using I-PASS transponders, the automatic toll payment devices that make it possible to pay without slowing to go through the current toll plazas. Drivers who use I-Pass will see no increase in their tolls, generally 40 cents. ******************************************************************* I have mixed feelings about this. Brain and I both have the I-Pass, but I am not sure I like seeing people who don't pay double. I am also curious what they decided to do with the truck tolls (no mention of it in this article).
