The NHL fans in Carolina only seem to show up when the team is doing really well (as in when they make the playoffs). Hell, they have cheerleaders :puke at the game, I would have thought that would have brought a few more guys to the game, lol.

In no particular order: Robin Williams Jeff Foxworthy (the man is a legand) Elaine Bousler (sp?) George Carlin - from before his wife's death (he just hasn't been the same, understandbly so) Dennis Leary tied with Eddie Murphy

I now know what it is like to be a Sox fan and not live in Chicago. I am a huge Carolina Canes fan and the team has been sub-par (at best) the last two years (they went to the finals in June of 2002). The only time I get to see them is either the occasional ESPN game or if we are by Brian's buddy's house - he has the NHL Center Ice package (we couldn't get it this year due to construction). Their attendance is akin to the White Sox attendance - very low, in fact at last check, the Canes have the next to lowest attendance - Pitt is listed as worst (surprise, surprise) in the NHL. The Canes attendance numbers are lower than the Hawks, if you could believe that. Both of these 'numbers' are according to a link on the inthecrease.com message boards. I get to go to Canes games once every 2 years when they are in town playing the SlackHawks. We were supposed to go to Raleigh this year for a WolfPack football game and a couple Canes games, but that didn't work out. The Canes have talent, but for whatever reason (maybe Maurice was there too long and it will take time for the new game plan to set in and work) they haven't been able to put it together the last two years. The one thing they really need is a good goalie. Weekes isn't the answer (sorry SS2K4 ) - there have been many reports of his bad attitude (and enough reports of his whining) to show he is a nuisance in the locker room. He is also way too streaky to be a number one goalie. One night he is standing on his head and the next night he gives up five goals. Without getting in to details too much, there are issues on the team and the place to start is goalie. They should have grabbed Cujo (or made an attempt for him) while he was on waivers. Anyway, getting back to the topic on hand, no one goes to the games and it drives me nuts - I would love to have the chance to go to as many games as I wanted instead of 1 game every 2 years or so - yes, I could travel to seem them play the Blues, Bluejackets, Wings, etc. But the point is that I can't understand why they have such terrible attendance (yeah, I know the team is crap, but with the possibility of no NHL next year, why not go and support the team while you still can). This is the same argument I've seen posters who are Sox fans in locations other than Chicago and now I understand where they are coming from.

I've had Cingular for about 6 years now (it was Cellular One when I started with them). For the most part, I haven't had too much trouble with their service.

Being a woman in a man's world (engineering), I can give an answer that. One of two things: he knew about the harassment and was afraid she'd come forward or two if he did kick her off the team, he was afraid she'd cry sexism. I'm not saying I agree with either reason, but those are the two that jump out at me.

I agree about the # cheating. Chevy was allowed changes that Ford was turned down for last year (downforce, spoiler, etc - lots of aerodynamic type stuff). This year is a new body style (or at least is supposed to be a new body style) so I am not expecting a lot while they get used to the style.

OH yeah, I've been wearing my retro 1917 Sox jacket all winter. I couldn't even tell you the number of people who have asked me the following two questions: 1) Is that a Boston Sox Jacket? 2) Is that really that warm? Yes - the jacket is warm - it's a winter jacket (or so it seems). As soon as it warms up, I'll be wearing my regular logo spring jacket.

I read/heard mixed reviews on whether he should have or not. I still remember that one of the announcers (I can't remember which one specifically) actually said that he thought that Jr should get the flag. No one ever seems to utter something along those lines about Jr. A good example is from Daytona when Jr hit Busch (something that happens often - drivers tapping into each other) - Jr hits him, but yet the announcers says Busch hit Jr. Anyhow, yeah, that is my beef with NASCAR, too much preferential treatment for certain drivers - most of them Chevy drivers as well :puke heehee. And damn it, I still say Neuman was cheating last year - then again so did about 75% of the drivers lol.

I probably wouldn't care one way or another about him, but between the way NASCAR shoves him down my throat (via advertising and coverage during the race - HEY GUYS THERE ARE 42 OTHER DRIVERS OUT THERE!!!!!! ) and the fact rules never seem to apply to him as they are applied to the other drivers out there (the biggest one that comes to mind is the race last year were the black flag should have been dropped on him for passing below the yellow line - I think it was Steve Park/Jeff Green - whoever was the one on DEI's team at that point - that did the same thing earlier in the race and he got the black flag).

I wonder if that was the real story or not. Calling from a plane that was headed to Morroco seems to say there might be some truth to it or was it some sort of mental break due to stress? Guess we will find out soon enough.
