He probably has to pass a physical and he has not had his physical yet. Either that or they are getting the final details figured out. It will most likely happen.

I assume he has a good arm then. If my assumption is correct, what does he throw?

Favorite Sox Or just overall baseball moment

Regarding your first post in this thread, I actually do remember those two games against Montreal(I was not there, in fact, I have never been to Chicago, but would like to go sometime). That 2-1 loss, I remember in the bottom of the 9th, Thomas hit a ball that needed about 3 more feet, and it was gone. And the next day we won like 10-3. About your second post(the one I'm quoting), I disagree with your opinion of Bonds very much. I think that Bonds is much like Thomas in that the media has given him a terrible reputation but he is in fact a very nice guy who just wants to be left alone. I thought what he did last year was incredible and was very, very close to super-human. I can't imagine what kind of pain he was going through, losing his father who had taught him how to play baseball and had been there every moment he was alive, and knowing that he is there behind you watching in pride, and that in 1 day, he is gone, and all you have of him is memories. To play through that is incredibly amazing. Because of that, I have the utmost respect for Barry Bonds, no matter what anyone says or does. And my opinion of Brett Favre has changed over the past 3 weeks as well, as he lost his father and has done the exact same thing that Barry did. Same deal happened with Michael Jordan when his father was killed, and then winning the NBA Finals on Father's Day. Those are three players who either are(Bonds and Favre) or have been(Jordan) greater then their respective games themselves. -
Garland needs a manager with confidence in him. I think Ozzie will have that in him.

First of all, if Buehrle has a Cy Young year, we will be contenders. I personally doubt he does. Second of all, people have brought up good points. Jas has basically said that we aren't as bad off as we think we are(which in all reality, we aren't), and soxnbears01 brought up the fact that we should not really panic until June(and that is at the earliest). If we have a decent shot at the division title, who says that KW won't go out and get us another starter or something else we need. KW has proved that he is willing to do it, so him actually going out and getting it done is not out of the question. And at that point, more people become available to us because we don't have to pay as much for them for the rest of the season.

No, they'll wait for Zito instead.

Won't hurt us, won't necessarily help us.

Basically, it is a statistic that is used to determine how much range a player has(or how much ground a player can cover....the league average is what it is, and if a player has a range factor of more then the league average, then they are an above-average fielder, and vice versa).

Did Anyone Hear Bruce Levine of Teinowitz's show?

We will NOT get draft picks. You have to offer a player arbitration to get draft picks, and we will not offer Maggs arbitration. If we offered him arbitration, he would accept it and he'd be due probably about $14-15 million. KW should trade him for what he can get at the break if we are out of the race. -
Todd Ritchie was acquired during the Winter Meetings in mid-December. However, I don't doubt that a major transaction will take place, though it will most likely be us dumping some salary on a team. And biggie, you are wrong. Colon actually had a decent season(15-13 3.87 in 242 innings), pretty much mediocre for his career. It was nothing like his 2002 when he went 20-8 with a 2.93 ERA in 233 innings on two mediocre teams, but it was better then his 01 season when he went 14-12 with a 4.09 ERA in 222 innings Also in 03, Bartolo's innings pitched were the highest of his career(242), he had his best K-BB ratio of his career(nearly 3), and he had his lowest walk total of his career(67). He also set a career high in CG's with 9. Bart's year was far from one of his worst. It was, as I said before, pretty much mediocre for his career.

Past, Rowand's range factor was 3.03 in 32 games in 2001(league average 2.67), 3.08 in 72 games in 2002(league average was 2.78), and was 2.54 in 65 games this past year(league average 2.78). However, that last stat is somewhat misleading. When Rowand had his 3.03 range factor in 2001, he played 237 innings in CF(which would average out to be about 7.3 innings per game. In 2002, he played about 602 innings, which averages out to be about 8.3 innings per game(or about a game in CF for each time he was out there). In both of those years he played nearly an entire game in CF. In 2003, it was quite the contrary. He played about 379 innings in CF, which is about 6 innings a game, meaning he had a lot of late inning replacements, and when that happens, you don't get the numbers you need to have a high range factor. I don't think his accident really caused this decrease in range factor, I just think it was that he didn't get regular playing time. I'm perfectly fine with Rowand in CF. He appears to have quite a bit of range out there. While he may not have Jim Edmonds-like range out there, you must consider that in 2002 Torii Hunter had a 2.70 range factor, and the league average range factor was 2.78. Torii Hunter won a gold glove in 2002. Something tells me that, even when playing regularly, range factor can sometimes be misleading. Did players just try not to hit it to Torii? I think not. Point blank, if he can put up decent batting numbers, he should be in the starting lineup because he's an above-average defensive CFer.

I think that's the first and last time I will ever see Royce Clayton being described as Mr Congeniality.

Technically, no. However, he was in the Sox organization and was traded for Robby Alomar.

Because Nomar plays a harder position, didn't choke in the playoffs, and doesn't play on a team that choked big time. -
Probably will hit .240 15 60 his first two years and then hit .300 45 140 his last year.

Kelly Stinnent is no bum...he's a decent backup catcher. Tony Graffanino is a guy we are all very familiar with. Very good utility infielder who hits well. Benito Santiago is actually a pretty good catcher, even in his old age. Probably better then any catcher on the White Sox. Matt Stairs is not actually that bad of a hitter. I believe he hit 20 homers mainly against RHP last year. We could have used him. I guess we just get to watch him smash Garland about 4 times this year. Scott Sullivan is a pretty damn good reliever. We also witnessed that last year. Curtis Leskanic is also a pretty damn good reliever. The Royals got two damn good relievers for cheap. Meanwhile, we have done very little...we resigned Carlos, and made a trade that will most likely never happen. KW better get his s*** together or we are f***ed. Oh, but wait, we signed Jose Santiago. The division is ours!

Apparently, the Broncos DON'T suck.....and the Dolphins sucked too much. And you can cock the Bills all you want. The Bills will get a top 15 draft pick and possibly a top 10 pick....you think I care that the Bills aren't in the playoffs or that they finished below .500 for the year? I hope that the Pats kill them next weekend and that Greg Williams is fired.

:dips*** Howry's worse then Rick White by now. What's that tell you?
-
Agreed 100% on everything in the post. Sums up my feelings exactly regarding Jose.
-
Another thing to mention Brando is the fact that he doesn't strike out. He doesn't walk much either though.
-
Shut the hell up beastly. :fyou When you flip out like this, no one gives a s*** what you say. And quite frankly, I could give a s*** what you want. Trading Ordonez seems to be the best move right now, so I hope they make it.
-
I would prefer Armas, Johnson, or Moss over Garcia. Garcia has lights-out stuff, but he may be too big a risk.
-
Yes, we can win the division. But so can the Tigers.

Looks Like the Sox will Go with a young Bullpen

I got a good feeling that you are way off. Koch is probably in the right spot. Marte would not close because then we don't have a lefty setup guy. Wunsch can't set up because he CANNOT get righties out. They hit like .350 off of him, while lefties hit like .110. He is used to get a tough lefty out when needed to, not to set up. I'm not even going to discuss your other 3. It's still December....cool the hell down. KW still probably has a few trades that he wants to get done yet, and remember, the Colon deal last year did not get done till about January 15th.
