I used this little red guy as part of a post towards TheHawk ------> :fyou But he's been on here before and really has offered very little to the conversation at times. Just had some pointless one-liners, like the White Sox suck. Maybe it wasn't just because TheHawk posted it, maybe I used it because quite a few others were saying the same things without actually being that blatant about it. Maybe I can take someone saying "The White Sox suck", but I can't take it when all the person has to back it up with is "Let's face it." I don't think the Sox will be all that good this year, but that's because I think we are still a team that will ground into 150 DPs, is very slow, is very right-handed, has a mediocre rotation and a mediocre bullpen. Maybe it's also because our manager comes off as a dumbass.

Does that count Cal Eldred too?

Anyone else hear a rumor about Konerko to Anaheim?
witesoxfan replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
He made just under $4 million last year. -
Since when are the Indians not part of the AL Central?
-
Story Well that's a b****.

I'd be more then happy to take on Percival who is due the same amount as Konerko if they took on Koch. -
Thanks for the corrections. Though, like you said, it doesn't even matter.

It's gotten to -10 and -20 up here, though in the day it usually hovers around 0-5. I could go sun-bathe right now. It's 11 degrees outside....burnin' up.

IF ya could only see one game this playoff weekend
witesoxfan replied to Be Good's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
If I HAD to go to one, I'd go to Tennessee-New England. If I could, I'd wait till next week when I think Indy will travel to New England and I'd go to that game instead. See who wins the rematch. -
Gamebreaker? Brian Westbrook? Ever heard of Donovan McNabb? Westbrook is good, but he is far from the heart and sole of the Philly team. Their offense is based around the running game, but that does not mean that they will lose because they lost their best back. The best part of their team is their defense, and it is damn tough. I think it will be close, but Philly pulls it out in the end.

I know, isn't it? This guy has posted on here before, and it's been the same s***. I don't care if this person only has 11 or 15 posts or whatever, each post has been this same s*** about the White Sox.

Huh? Pedro Martinez is 5'10'' and throws it 95-97, Barry Zito is 5'10'', throws it 85-88, Randy Johnson is 6'10'' and throws it 97-99, and Jon Rauch is 6'11'' and throws it 88-90. Do you see a pattern, because I sure as hell don't.

My condolences to the McGraw family. Cancer is a bastard and is a b**** to fight, and some win, but some lose. RIP Tug.

That's kind of my thinking too, but if Konerko is dealt to LA, then where is Maggs dealt? Is he dealt to LA along with Konerko and then we take on a bad contract(like Hundley's $7 mill), or do we trade him elsewhere? I get lost at that point.

Hey cw, just the other day I remembered a saying I had about SamME on the other boards, and I hate to bring it up myself, but I think I should. I think it was something like "We know what Sammy Sosa is like, and we know what we like, and Sammy Sosa is not something we like." Just a bit of my personal pride and I remembered it when seeing this thread and Sosa talk come up.

I disagree with you to an extent. By saying "even if he has a season like his 02 season", you are implying to me that he had a good 2002 campaign. I will disagree with you. His 2002 campaign was night and day, and because of that, it was s***ty. He has 22 homers in the first half, 7 in the second half. He hit .330 in the first half, and I believe .270-.280 in the second half(which is acceptable), and he barely drove in 35 runs in the second half. If he has any consistency(maybe say he hits 10-15 homers in the second half, drives in 50 runs, hits .310), then he ends up with Maggs-like numbers(.320 35 120), and he is worth the $8 million he is getting next year. His 2002 season alone would not be worth $8 mill, which I agree with, but if he had two of his first halfs similar to each other and both were very good(like they were), then I could see him being worth $8 mill.

I do remember that. Quite funny. Also, as far as the poll goes, whatever's in the cupboard.

Happy B-day! That much closer to legally getting drunk(off your ass!)

I don't hate dentists, I just hate their asses when they tell me I have cavities, and then they tell me that there is nothing I could do to prevent them, not even brushing my teeth(which is actually what one of my dentists told me one time). Then they did this stupid ass laser s*** which supposedly tells you if you have a cavity before it is visible. My ass. If you can't see it, it isn't there. And then the drilling....that's what scares the hell out of me. My mouth is numb as hell and I can still feel that drill grinding against my teeth, and every now and then tooth parts fly out and hit you in the face. Goddamn I hate that s***. I don't mind checkups where they just clean my teeth....no harm in that.

Drive-thru marraige huh? That's about the only thing Las Vegas is good for

Nebraska will not accept mediocrity, and mediocrity for them is losing to three Big 12 teams and not being the best team in their conference. If they went 8-4 but beat Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas State, I don't think you would have seen this. But they got slaughtered by Texas, beaten by Missouri, and beaten by Kansas State, and they would have been humiliated by Oklahoma. They were not among the best teams in the Big 12, making them mediocre, hence the reason Solich got the boot. I think the main reason they aren't getting a coach is because every candiate out there realizes that it will be a tough job turning Nebraska into a powerhouse once again, because their option offense will really not work. They really need a west coast offense or a run and gun offense installed for them to be competitive.

Take it for what its worth (from the Score)
witesoxfan replied to JDsDirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I can. That lump of s*** is not worth $13 mill a year. Congrats to him on getting it, but he is not worth that much, no how, no way. He'd have to post the same type of numbers he did in 2002 to even be close to being worth $13 mill. Ponson is Colon without the getting stronger part. And Ponson is younger too. I'd gladly take Ponson to replace Colon. -
STFU Hawk. :fyou I don't give a s*** if the White Sox do suck. The Marlins sucked going into the season last year, and the Angels sucked the year before that. Stranger s*** has happened before, and flukes can occur. And even if we do suck, we will free up a ton of money for 2005. Koch will be off the hooks, Maggs off the hooks, Valentin off the hooks, and maybe Konerko has a good enough season where we can get something of value for him. That would be $33 million off of our payroll. We then have enough to resign Esteban and to go into the FA market and actually get some good players. As an honest question to everyone on the board, who really cares if we do suck this year? I personally won't care all too much. If we do, we have some white flag trades, we get some value for the likes of Maggs, Valentin, Koch, Konerko, and maybe even Esteban(and a situation similar to that of the Ponson in Baltimore thing comes up and we try to resign him after the season). Won't hurt my feelings at all. And I'm still not sold that we'll suck. I don't think we'll win the division, but 75-80 wins is doable.

And there defense was tough as nails, especially with their backs against the wall. I recall the most from watching their game against the Bills where the Bills would get on the Dallas 25-30 and then that defense would force a big turnover. And tonight, it showed again, forcing Carolina to kick 5 field goals. They let them score touchdowns on 2 of those, then it instantly becomes a rout where Dallas has no shot whatsoever and the score becomes 39-10, and if they score another touchdown instead of a field goal, it is 46-10....etc, etc, etc, you get the picture. If they get decent offensively, they will be a powerhouse, though I hate admitting it. They get themselves a QB and a HB, and they are among the best in the league.

So You Think That the 2004 Cubs Are Unstoppable?
witesoxfan replied to C.Rector's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I actually think going to the NL will help Pettitte because most of the players there have not seen him. What I think will hurt him is pitching in the bandbox that is The Stadium formerly known as Enron(also known by its now proper name Minute Maid Park, or Juice Stadium, which is right for it since the ball flies out, or is juiced). I don't think he wins 20 games, but I think 15-18 is possible, especially with the right offensive support.
