  1. I hope he looks good and pitches well. He sounds like he was a hell of a prospect at one time. I hope he comes through and makes it. At this point, we could use another break. If Grilli can come in and put up Jon Garland like numbers, I would be ecstatic.
  2. I hope so. I hope Vlad hurries up and signs with Baltimore. If he signs with someone, you are then either looking at putting an injury prone Juan Gonzalez in RF(or LF) who is VERY injury prone, or signing for second tier and getting Reggie Sanders, OR making a big trade and getting the big-name, good attitude Magglio Ordonez. At that point wish lists have Magglio Ordonez on them a lot more. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. Right now, it kind of looks like there is a stalemate....someone's gotta break the ice, and I think it begins with ARod getting dealt.
  3. Alright, thanks Jas for filling in for me. We lost nothing important, and got Grilli, who sounds to be a pretty good pitcher. Do you think we'll keep him?
  4. This whole Maggs thing is starting to confuse the s*** out of me. Is just LA interested in Maggs or is Boston also interested as well? Or if we traded Maggs to Boston, could Boston then ship him out to LA for the guys we want, or what the hell? I am so lost it is not even funny. Anyways, we were interested in Williamson last year, in fact, I believe KW said something to the fact that he was saddened by the fact that he did not get Williamson. I think KW may make a serious push at getting him.
  5. Storey I've never heard of, but I have heard of Holt. I know he was involved in the Koch trade, and I think that he holds some kind of NCAA home run record. If you are curious enough to figure it out, either look it up, or ask Cerb. He'll know.
  6. Agreed on racing. I never have enjoyed it much at all. I've tried, but I can't figure it out.
  7. Who cares who wins, Philly's got the division wrapped up, Miami will choke like they always do. I mean, hell, the Dolphins have to travel to Buffalo next week. The Bills damn near beat the Titans yesterday, do I think they can handle the Dolphins? Can I get a 'hell yes!' ? This Bills team has really surprised me this year. They have improved an incredible amount over the second half of the year. I figure they could be decent next year with either another offensive lineman or with another WR.
  8. Did they figure they needed a replacement for Antoine or something? I can't figure this deal out. Maybe that's why I don't follow the NBA.
  9. Ya think he remembers taking that picture? I personally doubt it.

    Madden 2005

Oh and with a drafted half back in my Madden franchise, I ran for like 3500 yards in one season, and I had something like 900 yards rushing with him against New England(I was the Bills obviously and he just torched that 3-4 defense). I also scored somewhere around 170 points against New England combined in the two games I played them that season. Maybe that's why that franchise died, because I scored too damn many points. I had to of scored over 1000 points, and I only allowed like 250 or so.
  11. And watch Anaheim give him $13 mill a year to give them 15-18 wins and a 3.75 ERA? He'll save the bullpen, but when you have a bullpen as good as Anaheim's, you want to use it and keep it fresh. I would MUCH rather spend $13 mill a year on 4-5 real good bullpen pitchers and have a hell of a good bullpen and have a mediocre rotation then have a hell of a good rotation and have a s***ty bullpen. We had the latter last year, and look where that got us. We had the former in 2000, look where that got us(we also had the best offense in the majors, but you get the point). Also, Anaheim had the prior in 2002, look where that got them. I'll miss Colon as much as anyone, but when it comes right down to it, the guy isn't worth $10 mill a year, let alone the $13 mill a year he's getting. I hope his fat-ass arm falls off in Anaheim. We'll get mini-Bartolo in Sidney Ponson and then I'm hopeful that two deals can be worked out where Koch is shipped out for Weathers(where we include $1 mill to help a little), and where we trade Maggs for Perez, Mota, and ONE of LA's prospects, not 2 or 3 of them. That frees about $13 mill between those two deals combined, and when you take out Ponson's, that leaves us with $7 mill(in the estimated budget, and even possibly more around $10-$15 mill). That gives us room to sign Juan Gonzalez if we can, or possibly Rafael Palmeiro, or maybe even both(I'm not sure how we would get them all in the lineup, but there is a possibility that something could be worked out). Point blank, there are tons of possibilities out there and if KW plays his cards right, we could be looking at a hell of a team next year. If he doesn't, we could be looking at a s*** team that might not win 70 games. This is where GMs get those extra dollar bills, get the kudos from everyone in the sporting biz, and most importantly, the reason we all know KW took the job for in the first place(Murcie will be able to tell you this, because he made an pic of it), is to get the b****es! Sorry for the lengthy post, but one thing just led to another and another, and before I knew it, I got to talking about KW and his b****es.
  12. cwsox and Tex, just so you don't forget, we had 1959 in there as well. We only made it to the World Series that year.
  13. There are all kinds of wacky things that could go on. Part of it gets me excited, the other part not so much.
  14. There was a deal DBAHO had in his post, I believe something like Maggs for Perez, Mota, and Jackson.....if that deal came up, and I was the GM, Perez would be in a White Sox uniform. I would not hesitate at all. I would then contact Juan Gone's agent, see if I can get a 2-year deal done for about $4-6 mill per, and I would pretty much have my lineup set. I still think we could use another LH bat in the middle of the lineup....but I would hope that a trade would come up and I could get a LH bat or two, or maybe there is still a LH bat out there who is unsigned.
  15. I disagree. I think you give him a shot at starting, he puts up pretty solid numbers. You may not see those numbers at Pac Bell Park, mainly because that place is a b**** to hit in(unless your name is Barry Bonds), but I think he could hit .275 25 75, maybe even better, with regular playing time. The Twins traded him not because he was bad but because they had 4 outfielders worthy of starting and only 3 can play OF(which I don't think I had to explain). At that point, you decide two that are expendable, consider what you could hypothetically get if one was traded and what the other would produce for your team, and make the trade. The Twins felt they had no need for Dustan Mohr, and before you know it, he is teammates with the greatest player of this generation. This was solely a baseball move to free up a roster space.
  16. LOL, OK, so maybe it was more around 50,000. As far as the rumors go....all I can say is that not many have involved the White Sox. I've heard Ordonez for Garcia thrown around a few times, Ordonez for Perez+others a few times, Sox may sign Ponson, Koch to the Mets....pretty much same as before you left, same as when the offseason started. And there was a rumor from Paul Sherman out of the NY Post I believe that said Thomas demanded a trade and Ozzie wanted Maggs, Konerko, and Lee out of here. If you believe that you'd damn near believe everything that anyone ever told you.
  17. Not even Dan Evans is that dumb. I thought he was too dumb to consider taking on Paul Konerko...I was wrong on that one. However, he would have to be dumber then a board to make that deal. Now I could see us giving them Konerko or Valentin and then this deal going through, but really not until then(and as far as I'm concerned, then can have Jonny-boy too....or Judy, whichever you prefer). A change of scenery would do him good and would not make the Dodgers look like they were completely jobbed. If that deal happened though, atleast I could cheer for a former Sox player that plays out in Cali. No longer can I cheer on Foulke, and I don't think I can lower myself to cheer for that fatass Colon. So get it done quickly KW, and don't get taken to the cleaners either.
  18. It's been all rumors, and if you name it, it has probably been discussed, and none of it will probably come true. And the Bears won. And in the Soxtalk award nominations, I think people nominated you about 100,000 times for most knowledgeable White Sox analyst or something to that extent.
  19. Now that is a concept I had never considered. Sounds fun.
  20. Courtesy Rotoworld, reported by Peter Gammons(or in other words, take it for what it's worth, and I would actually believe this with how much Peter Gammons likes the Red Sox) Also says that Texas will probably then sign Todd Walker to play 2B and will move Michael Young from 2B to SS.

    Madden 2005

Oh it doesn't bother me. I love video games. I'm not afraid to admit it. It may sound a little nerdy or geeky, but I do. Not sure what I'd do without them. I'd probably have to read or something like that!
  22. THANK YOU. A relatively sane extreme way to get inside a cheating spouse's head that cheating is not right. You do NOT have to touch the weiner and use a sharp object(which can be a knife or scissors or something to the extent) on it. Damn, that hurts just thinking about that. I am not sure what life would be like without my dong.
  23. I think except for Steve's initial post, and maybe Yahtzee's post, this has been the most meaningless thread I've ever read in my life. Maybe I should read all the threads and this one will have more meaning. No offense guys(and gal).

    Madden 2005

5th in NCAA? Either I need to play less, or you need to play more. Or maybe it's because you have a job and I don't. I'm in like season 9 or 10 in one of my dynasties and season 3 of another. Syracuse Orangmen have won something like 105 or 110 straight games in my first dynasty, and I had this QB that threw for like 11,500 yards in his 4 years. He was pretty good. And then I got into my 13th season of Madden for 04(I think I'm the one who needs to play less), but it decided to stop on me, because the regular season thinks it is the preseason and it only goes 4 games in and stops, and I can do no more from there. I think my XBox decided I should not play Madden so much.
  25. Thanks Heather, DBAHO, and SS2K4....I was just honestly curious.
