I thought the Twins were contenders in 2001 when they finished in second place to the then very powerful Indians?

Robbie to be a Cardinal by weeks end...
witesoxfan replied to Wise Master Buehrle's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm not so sure about that Josh. I think you actually can compare Willie to Robbie at this point in their career. You look at when Robbie was however old Willie is right now....it's laughable. Robbie would have had Willie for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as a midnight snack too. I do agree Robbie is the better player. He can still bunt, still has a great amount of range(which is not how dumbass feels, but that is partly because he apparently did not watch baseball), can turn the DP, and still had a little left in the bat from the left side of the plate. He ain't much when hitting right-handed, but atleast he can bunt very well. And I personally thought that the Jose-Robbie combo up the middle was one of the finest 2B-SS duos I've seen the White Sox have. That's not saying a whole hell of a lot, mainly because I've grown up with the likes of Ray Durham for most of my White Sox watching days, and Durham has about as little range as anyone(though he can turn the DP very well). Still though, that as a treat watching those two, and you could almost see Jose starting to field better as he played more and more with Robbie. Robbie, in his day, was most definately an impact player. He could beat you 100 different ways. I have no doubt in my mind that he is a 1st ballot hall of famer. I just hope he doesn't stick around too long like Harold Baines did. I don't think that's possible with Robbie though....he's too good a fielder to stick around too long. I figure if he can't start anymore, he'll end up a very good utility man for 2-3 years. I could see Robbie playing into his early 40s, undoubtedly. And, of course, I wish him all the best wherever he lands. He's a hell of a good player, and he always has been. -
(Trying to refrain from calling him a dumbass) That won't happen. When was the last time a team traded its best player ever and best hitter from the previous season for a minor league pitcher who also happens to be a headcase and also happens to hate the team he is going to more then anything and wouldn't sign with them out of the draft, who ALSO happens to be due $15.5 mill, including $9.5 mill in '05, over the next two seasons? Yeah, that's what I thought. Not only would we be getting f***ed over as far as talent and everything else is concerned, but we would be getting f***ed financially too. Not even KW is that stupid. So tell your friend in the White Sox organization to not lie to you next time, because he's a terrible liar. The only way I would ever consider that deal is if they throw in Dave Roberts, Edwin Jackson, Hanrahan, and Mota, because that is exactly how bad Weaver really is.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least if the Rangers, assuming they trade ARod, would have interest in him as well.
-
Probably has the White Sox down 4 times.

In that case, I did a little jabbing when they signed Sirotka. I mean, his arm is fake and all and he hasn't really pitched in 3 years.

Brown will have no trouble dealing with the pressure. The only way he fails in NY is if he gets injured. Son of a b**** I hate the Yankees.

I thought OldRoman got banned though....

Grossman will start Sunday
witesoxfan replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I'm gonna have to see him play before I make judgements. I never really saw him play in college, and Florida QBs have had a bad history of sucking in the NFL. -
I do agree. I mean, the last good news I got all offseason was when JM was fired.

I hope I'm not the only one who finds that humorously ironic that Tex spelled checker wrong in spell checker.

A little crazy? I have to disagree. That was way crazy. Sorry, but I gotta say no to that idea. If we want Juan Gone, one of Lee and Maggs will be gone, period. If Maggs is traded, Thomas is the full-time 1Bman and Juan is the DH. If Lee is dealt, Juan plays a little LF, DHs a little, and Thomas plays a little 1B and DHs a little, and then Gload/Rowand/whoever the hell else we have plays when one of those two DHs

He hit .280 15 50 or so last year....numbers very similar to that. However, his .900 OPS speaks for itself. His OBP was .422. Johnson is not overhyped, in fact, I'd go as far as to say that he is overlooked. He is going to be a hell of a player someday.

Suppose he gets in shape to impress the Cali women?

How many time to I have to say this, don't believe a s***tin thing on ANY message board you see EVER. On the CUBS message board favoring the CUBS immensely. You think this deal is actually in works? I highly doubt it. So just don't even bother going to other message boards for rumors, because odds are, they are all s*** rumors that some fan just made up to start conversation. I did a similar thing with ARod earlier this year....you think anyone thought it was actually a possibility?
-
I hope that sonuvab**** f***ing eats his way to 350 pounds and signs with Oakland Raiders to be an offensive lineman.
-
I don't believe so. I actually do recall reading or hearing from somewhere or something that Mulder's favorite team growing up was actually the White Sox. You ever wonder why he pitches lights out against us?
-
The guys Jas mentioned are all possibilities, but don't rule out Juan Rincon either. In fact, now that Guardado is gone, I'd actually expect Rincon to take his spot, Silva to take Hawkins spot from last year, and for either Balfour, Nathan, or someone else to take Rincon's spot from last year.

There's a song I've heard before called "Who put the dick on the snowman?" It's not a Christmas song, but it's close enough and is pretty damn funny.

I am not worried about the Twins, but the royals
witesoxfan replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
f*** that. I'm still scared of the Twins. They actually have a half decent offense, a solid rotation, and a pretty damn good bullpen, even after losing Hawk and Eddie. Right now, I'd be surprised as hell if the Twins and Royals are scared of us. We just lost our stud down the stretch, our second best reliever, our second basemen AND leadoff hitter from the second half of last year as well as our CFer and #5 hitter from the second half last year. We will have to make some pretty damn good moves to even be a blip on the radar IMO. -
That's terrible to even joke about. :puke :puke :puke

Vannishing skil, wat doo u meen?

Not a great closer, I agree, but it would be a great move, even at $5 mill a year or whatever the hell he'd get. You take what he did for Minnesota away from him and give it to us. That's quite big if you ask me.

It's too cold up here in North Dakota to snow. That's what I tell myself anyways. Sounds good to me and I say that's probably why we've only had about 5-10 inches all year so far.

All you cat-killer freaks, what the hell pissed you off? Jeezus they don't do a damn thing to hurt anyone, so you go off acting like sick-ass psycho freaks and enjoy killing cats? That's just wrong. I don't like dogs but I don't want to beat them with a shovel, ground them into hamburger meat, and feed them to other dogs.
