  1. I said it in another thread(I believe the Roberto Hernandez rumor thread), that I think Grant Balfour could be Hawkins's replacement(actually Rincon replaces Hawkins as setup and Balfour replaces Rincon as middle relief guy). I think Silva will come in and will replace Tony Fiore.
  2. And they had the best record in baseball after that. They won like 43 games in the second half, didn't they? Could have been more too had they not put a AAA team on on the field against the Tigers. I still think they make the Stewart deal even if we go on a little run, and we still lose the division. With the way we looked in those last two series of the year against the Twins, I have almost no doubt in my mind we lose the division to them. That all falls strictly on the manager. He's not here anymore, and I think we all know why he isn't here anymore. And hopefully Ozz brings what we needed last year this year. It's still gonna be a year too late though IMO.
  3. I agree with that. If you look at it from an outsider's point of view, you see the Twins getting stronger, the Royals staying the same, and the White Sox getting worse, while the Tigers are Indians are sitting around with their thumbs up their asses. Actually, that's the only way I think you can look at it. The Twins are getting stronger while everyone else is just fighting for last place.
  4. Call me crazy, but parts of that look very similar to the Twins schedule last year. All but the Royals in late September. I really like being able to finish up against our division. It gives us, at the very least, a shot if we are 3 back of coming back and winning the division. The odds of that happening are slim to none. I don't think we'll have a very good team this year.
  5. I agree. About the same chance of that happening as there is a chance of us trading Konerko for Gagne on the Dodgers. I mean, it makes sense, because the Dodgers can afford to give up some pitching and they need offense, so why not?
  6. They now most likely get to keep Eddie Guardado and Shannon Stewart, two guys they had most of last year(Guardado all year, Stewart half a year), and guys played a huge role in winning them a division. Eric Milton, meanwhile, pitched about a month this year, posting insignificant numbers and not playing a role besides bench warmer in the postseason. Regardless of who the Twins got in return, did they not win this deal? They get to retain their spark from last year and a pretty solid relief pitcher in Guardado and get rid of a guy they used very little last year? Hypothetically, that would be like us trading Koch and getting to resign Gordon and Everett. Not gonna happen because Gordon has already signed, but you get the, and for the Twins, it is an even bigger plus. As I've said twice before, they get to keep a good relief pitcher and the guy that sparked their team to the best record in the AL after the break, and get rid of a guy they used very little last year. Tell me that this division is getting weaker because the Twins traded a guy that they will not use and get to keep two guys that they will use a lot, and I will laugh at you.
  7. Even if they are an 80-win team(which I have thought the past TWO seasons), that may still be enough to win the division. The Indians still suck ass, the Tigers still suck ass, the Royals will probably come down to earth a little, and we are doing all of nothing to try to improve our chances....we could see the Twins win the division by 5-10 games again, easily.
  8. For everyone who thinks the Twins are going to the s***ter because they lost ONE setup man, wake the f*** up. They had Juan Rincon pitch rock solid last year and late in the year the Twins saw the emergence of Grant Balfour as a setup man. Their bullpen will be no worse this year then it was last year. Rincon will take Hawkins's spot, and Balfour will take Rincon's old spot. If they can resign Guardado, you will actually probably see a better bullpen, because JC Romero can go no place but up. It's what they do to fill the lineup that I'm concerned about. They are going to go with either LeCroy at catcher or Mauer at catcher, and each has their weaknesses. And as far as their outfield is concerned, I think one of Stewart and Jones will be gone, and it will probably be a tough choice for which one they keep and which one they drop, mainly because they have 5 solid OFers that are all pretty good that were up at the end of last year(Hunter, Stewart, Jones, Mohr and Michael Ryan). I think Mohr starts next year for them and one of Stewart and Jones is gone....whichever one of the two they decide to get rid of I think the White Sox should pick up.

    Dumbass?

I can't decide if I want to call him a dumbass or not. I mean, the guy has had mental problems in his past. But something this extreme? Maybe just dumb. I think you leave the ass off.
  10. Technically, we didn't resign him, we picked up his option. And maybe to try to get some value for him. I don't think we can though. The only team I think would take him is LA.
  11. Well, let's see. His first and only full season in New York he hit .291 17 61 with 30 walks and 60 K's(488 ABs). That is an OBP of .330. That year was also 2000, and the Mets went to the World Series that year. The next year he only played 100 games, and the next he played 87 for them and was then traded to Colorado. Cancer? Possibly. But he puts up good numbers, and if you put up good numbers and the team wins, there is no cancer. Winning cures everything.
  12. Holy s***, if you go apes*** over an Aaron Miles for Juan Uribe deal, CALM THE HELL DOWN. It's a trade of a career utility guy for a career minor league utility guy. Maybe in Colorado he can be a decent utility guy...hell, maybe even a good 2B man. He sure as hell wasn't going to get the shot to try from us, so why not ship him off? It's like being upset about a stock on the market dropping a cent when the actual value of the stock is $50.
  13. But we beat them in the season series so we are the better team
  14. He also played in Coors Field. Almost everyone on here would have power at Coors.
  15. Apparently, Juan Uribe as well
  16. Where's the shrugging smiley? Not a real big move. I really don't think it will affect the team too incredibly much.
  17. And the Packers don't? They just lost to the LIONS, have lost 3 games at home(a place where they went undefeated last year before a home loss against the Falcons in the playoffs), Favre has struggled, and they are in about the same boat as the Bears are when it comes to division standings. If they beat* the Bears, they eliminate the Bears and stay a game back of Minny, and possibly take a first-place tie. If I didn't hate the Packers as much as I did, I think it would be a fun game to watch. But because I hate the Packers, I won't even want to see the highlights. The Bears are going to get hurt falling off their high horse, and will get completely stomped. Just what I think will happen. EDITED: No one caught my mistake? Hehe
  18. Probably more than 3 or 4. You will only see 3 or 4 playing in the NFL, but then you have the CFL, NFL Europe, Arena Football, and then several more semi-pro teams all over. I could see maybe 10-15 go on to a pro football league of some type, and then realize what a s*** job they have and go on and do something more important in their lives.
  19. Buehrle was a lucky pick. If you can get a 38th round pick to do what he did, you got a little bit of luck on your side. Crede - probably the best of the bunch. I believe he was a 5th round pick. Maggs and Lee both were undrafted FAs we signed out of Venezuela and Panama respectively. And Rowand is nothing to be proud of. Plain and simple, we have not had a successful minor league system, especially through the first-year player draft, virtually at all for about 10 years. Back in the late 80s, early 90s, we had Ventura, Black Jack, Thomas, Fernandez, and Bere come up and play good baseball. We really have not had that a whole hell of a lot. However, Kipper can't be forgotten....he's played pretty goddamned good for the Pirates unnoticed. He was a 1st rounder that actually succeeded....problem is, he didn't do it for us. And yes, Cameron came through the White Sox system. Look at the Twins minor league system and who they've gotten via the draft. I can tell you that they have gotten a ton more, and that their minor league system still would kick our ass any day of the week.
  20. God why'd you have to bring Buffalo into this? Bunch of dumbasses are going to finish like 6-10 or something and get some s***ty pick and not get an impact player. Anyways, I agree with pretty much everything you said.
  21. Handheld MP3 player Numerous games for XBox(though I don't plan on getting all of them) CDs CD Fixer-thingy $$$ And if I could get a girlfriend and ass from her for Christmas, I would take that over everything I have up there
  22. For the Orioles trade, I'd ask that we get Luis Matos rather than Melvin Mora(the guy can play a sick CF....he's about as good as Torii Hunter), and that we get Cust as well to strengthen the minor league systems.
  23. Where is the 'Who the hell cares?" option? It is an HTML site, and if you think it's primitive, then why the hell are you here? I personally like this website because it is full of intelligent White Sox fans who don't give a s*** what the site looks like and just want to talk White Sox baseball, as well as other numerous things. It is run by several very good guys from what I can tell(I haven't met anyone on here in person, though several have), and they do a good job of running it. I don't care how it looks. :dips***
  24. One of those? We have 3 or 4 guys who should be DHing somewhere and not playing the field.
