  1. Would you want to play for the Tigers, even if they were your hometown team? And no one says he can't play again next year. I suppose he could anyways....why the hell not?
  2. A controversial MVP was 2000. That one was kind of like this year's NL MVP though....you really couldn't go wrong. I still thought Frank should have won though.
  3. Good, get his ass out of the AL Central. He is damn clutch and is damn good. Break up the goddamn Royals.
  4. Hey now, let them play. We all thought we had the division won last year in February, and the White Sox proved to us that you have to play the games. I want to see how they play under Ozzie. Who knows...maybe it will be a good move. Then again, it may be a dumbass move and he may be as bad as Bevington.
  5. I'll make a friendly bet and say that I won't say that. He was a s*** manager here and had all the talent in the world and still couldn't win the division. Hell, we went 11-8 against what would have been the worst team in major league history had we ACTUALLY SCORED A RUN agaisnt them in the TWO games we lost 1-0. And then in the final Minnesota series of the year, he was too damn IGNORANT to see that EVERY hitter was trying to hit a home run in EVERY at bat. You wanna know why we got our asses kicked this year? Jerry Manuel is the reaosn. I can think of a few good decisions he made. He used Gordon, Wunsch, and Marte well, or at the very least, they pitched well for him. Problem is, there are probably three times more bad decisions that came up in one month. If I wanted to give 10-15 minutes of my time, I could come up with a few. I personally do not want to.
  6. I'll take this one If a team has a top 15 pick, you get 2 sandwich picks. Like, for instance, if we offer Flash arbitration and he qualifies as an A type free agent, and the DRays sign him, we get two sandwich picks, because teams with a top 15 pick can't lose it. A team with a pick from 16-30 CAN lose their first round pick, and that was one of the reasons so many teams that were hoping to contend, and at the very least be mediocre, were afraid of signing Chuck Finley last year. That and the fact that he's like 50 and he had legal troubles(and if I wanted to be really mean, I could say that he got his ass beat by his wife, but I won't hold that against him. He did the right thing by not hitting her)
  7. How do we know that those numbers would translate into good numbers in the MLB though?
  8. I hope it doesn't go like last year. IIRC, no one made a damn move because everyone was wondering where in the hell Colon/Vazquez was going. Colon finally wound up in a White Sox uniform on about January 8 or 9th.
  9. Good deal for both teams. Jays pitching sucked big time last year, but their offense was pretty damn good, A's pitching, especially starting pitching, was pretty damn good last year but they needed some offense down the stretch. Now as far as catcher is concerned.....that's a whole different story. They are damn near f***ed there. I have no idea what they plan to do about that.
  10. A Konerko and Valentin for Perez and Izturis deal, with a little fine tuning, would be excellent for both the White Sox and Dodgers. For the White Sox, we get a stud starter and a hell of a good SS/2B, and for the Dodgers, well, Dan Evans is finally fired.
  11. But if they do win out, and Michigan beats OSU, don't you suppose LSU is playing for the national title?
  12. I think I need to start paying more attention. I hadn't the slightest clue Murc left. Anyways, welcome back man!
  13. That depends. If he had SOME of SamME's personality(like being able to get on TV and becoming a very marketable player), sure, I'd like that. Now if he corked his bats, sprinted out to RF, hopped after every long fly ball, blew kisses to his mom, and what not else just to get on TV, no, I would not like that.
  14. Michigan wins. Perry has over 200 yards rushing and Michigan wins it in the fourth quarter.
  15. And the Bulls fall into what category?
  16. That'd be worth it IMO. I do agree though. Maybe not necessarily getting rid of Jose(because he does not have an incredibly high value and because there are not many good SS's available). We get rid of Maggs, and it makes a little bit of sense.
  17. You want intangible for Maggs? He's a guy that does NOT play all-out, plain and simple. I don't remember the last time I saw him beat out a ground ball. I don't think I ever have. Add to that that he is not a leader-type ballplayer, and that he does not seem to be a very marketable kind of guy, and you understand part of the intangibles that I see. Maggs is worth $8 mill a year, tops. Not $14-$15 mill.
  18. You wanna pay a guy that is going to hit .300 30 100 $14 mill a year? Sweet jesus.
  19. Now that I think of it....Escobar could be the Loaiza of 2004. If the Sox could land him, we'd be in pretty good shape I'd have to think. Guy that had great stuff and could just bust out and become a stud. And if he doesn't work as a starter, I think he'd be a hell of a middle reliever/setup guy.
  20. I actually do agree. I don't think I'd ever say this, but when you compare Koch's contract to Cedeno's, Koch's contract is more attractive and better for what you get. I'd rather take a chance on Koch returning to form then take a chance on Cedeno returning to form. Koch's is also for one year, Cedeno's for two more.
  21. The Mets are dumb pieces of s*** if they thought we were going to do a Koch for Cedeno deal without having the salaries equal out in the end. There is no doubt in my mind that Maggs is gone next year. I still think that Konerko/Koch is dealt too, though there will be cash involved.
  22. AND that's what the majority of the fans want to hear. You think anyone gives a s*** what the Rockies or Pirates or even for that matter the White Sox want to do? No. They want to know what the Red Sox and Yankees want to do. They're the two most stories franchises in the MLB....what do you expect?
