No, I think KW has to actually offer Mark a fair contract....then Mark will consider it. From what I understand, he doesn't necessarily want to leave the Sox, but rather wants a fair contract. Not this $10,000 extra bulls***.

Goddamn....our bullpen's gonna be good....our starting rotation's gonna be good....our lineup's gonna be good....our bench may even be good. Goddamn....this season could be fun as hell....I can't wait. Goddamn, you know what sucks though? The beginning of ST is still about 3 1/2 weeks away still, or something like that....this is the most boring part of the year(especially if you don't live anywhere close to Chicago and can't go to SoxFest)....because there is nothing to do. There are no good players left(with the exception of a few decent ones that could make an impact on some bad or mediocre teams), football season is almost over(after next Sunday)....damn, this part of the year sucks. Goddamn....reality just dawned on me....this is going to be boring as hell for about the next 3 1/2 weeks....and then we'll get the thrill of ST and ST games for about the next 3 weeks....and then the last 2 weeks blow ass and are boring as hell. Goddamn

Garland's worth it....IMO anyways. Let's see....we will have the home run derby, the celebrity soft-ball game after that, then the actual All-Star game, and then everything that goes along with it....the tickets will cost a lot of money....and we'll probably bring in about 55,000 for that....so say the tickets are $150 a piece....that alone is about $8,250,000 and that doesn't include refreshments and the home run derby attendance and what not else. Hell, that's enough to pay for Colon's salary....so we're essentially getting him for free(although I assume the MLB has to take some of the money from the All-Star game...don't they?)....regardless, they could sell another $500,000 in refreshments and the giftshop what not and about $5,000,000 if we go by these standards for the home run derby....we could be raking in a lot of money in that 3-day set.....possibly $15 mill....or so. That's a lot of damn money. If all my math could be somewhat close to the right answers....then I don't see why our payroll couldn't be at about $80 mill in 2004(especially if 2003 is a big winner)....jeez, this organization could be starting a dynasty if things go right....knowing our luck, they won't(though that has got to change sometime). But about this All-Star game/World Series home field advantage....you don't suppose Selig's doing that to increase interest to draw more fans to help out his good buddy Uncle Jerry, do you?

I call my friends f***ing morons and stupid asses....does that help? I also call them b****es, bastards, ass-fases, idiots, as well as many other things. And sometimes I don't call them anything...I just do something like this: :fyou

I hope Cruz can sing and act as well as play baseball....cause he ain't getting $4 million playing this year. Are players this f***ing stupid? They are that dumb to realize that prices have gone down because about 75% of the teams are REDUCING their salary rather than INCREASING them? God....these ballplayers are morons....I wonder how half of them made it out of the 6th grade....it's called common sense. When the markets are down, the prices are down....that's not that hard to figure out. This along with the fact that Kenny Rogers thinks he is going to get about $7 million this year....jeezus...can't players take a hint? BTW, baggs....we can only hope that something happens this year and JR is forced to open up the checkbook...I do want to resign Colon, Buehrle, Thomas...who not. And I don't think Thomas will be gone next year...unless he wants to leave(as he can void out of his deal)....because if JR has anything to say about it, Frank Thomas will be a member of the White Sox for the next 4 years. And isn't Garland arbitration eligible after this year, or is it next year?
-
My guess(meaning it is just that - a guess) is the fact that with a 3-year deal, he would only be here till 2005....where instead, he would be here till 2006 with no contract....and he'd get more money if he just went through arbitration or if they reached an agreement after next year. That'd be my best guess....because Carlos Lee is a FA next year, though he'll only have spent about 5 years with the Sox(after next year)....FA comes after 6 years. Mark may have declined it because of what I explained above....but Jason may be able to give us a better idea. I don't know.
-
Carlos Lee anyone?
-
KLo....does Jennifer Lopez have a brother that plays baseball? Kenny Lofton = Without the face or hat of course
-
How about this rumor.... The White Sox might actually be good this year.

Just because a guy isn't ready for ST doesn't mean he can't be ready for the season. ST is 6 weeks long....you don't think someone could get back into baseball shape if they played baseball for 6-8 hours a day for 2 weeks(assuming he came back then)? I'd still go with Rowand as the leading candiate....with only Borchard and Harris competing(unless we signed Cruz Jr or Palmeiro). If we signed Cruz Jr....would you guys trade Lee, West and Sanders for Jay Gibbons of the Orioles? Maybe give them another decent bat for their lineup instead of West and Sanders from the minors. Nixon isn't available anymore...he's the Red Sox RFer, Damon's the CFer and Giambi's the LFer....they're decent in the OF.
-
Glover has a 1.21 ERA working out of the pen. That was in limited time, however. Regardless...that's incredible. That also tells me how bad he sucked as a starter, considering his ERA was around 4.50 or so for the year.
-
Where's that picture HSC always posts when you need it?
-
Agreed....the prospects make or break this deal
-
Koch had no right to be in when he was....the A's were DOWN 2-1....normally, pitchers are brought in when their team is UP. I don't base anything on that....had the A's been winning, Pierzynski's homer would have been a fly-ball to the middle of the outfield. Closers have the attitude to come in and shut the game down and finish the ballgame for their team....not come in down and then have your team pulls off some magic and wins it. I think his confidence may have been down right then....and this year, he'll be ready to come out perform well....save 45 or so games for us. When the game is on the line and his team is winning....Koch wants the ball. From what I've heard and seen, Foulke doesn't seem to always want the ball. Koch truly does have a closers mentality. I think he's going to like it in Chicago.
-
Either he or White will be the 6th inning guy...or they may share that role as well.....with Jerry the Tinkerer, we could have Rios come in and pitch during the 6th inning this year....who the hell knows with JM. Regardless...call it wishful thinking, but I think our pen will once again be the best in the league.
-
It seems like this never gets done, though he should....I think this trade happened about 2 months ago. Anyways....breaking it down, it looks like this... Koch for Foulke - wash....Foulke was probably gone after this year, Koch will be with us 3 years....regardless of the stats they put up....however, we'll probably end up paying Koch more than we would have ended up paying Foulke....which is the reason it is a wash. MJ for Daylon Holt - wash....it is hard to say which team got the better end of this deal....with the trading of MJ, we then signed Alomar and Olivo became the #1 catcher for us....which isn't a bad thing....but it does leave us weak at the catcher position. Had we kept MJ, we could have had Olivo start the year in AAA and then as soon as Sandy got hurt, have Miguel come up and possibly take the starting duties. Regardless, MJ is not an incredible catcher, though he is a good backup...and Daylon Holt will probably put up decent numbers off the bench for us someday....maybe .275 10 40....something like that....I'd take that and that would be good from off the bench. Cotts for Valentine - wash.....Valentine was a great pitcher in the minor leagues and will probably be a great pitcher in the majors as well....however, when we were dealing him, KW realized that he was dealing from a strength, though the pitcher he was trading may have been the best relief pitcher in our system...regardless, we still have plenty of minor league relief talent, and we got a lefty with good stuff in Cotts who could be a good starter someday....and the fact that he's from ISU makes it quite special. From the looks of it, I'd say the deal is a complete wash...which is why I said, at best, it is a wash, and at worst, it is a wash...because quite simply, this deal was a wash....we traded a closer for a closer and in the end that was the bulk of the deal....regardless of the stats.

White = 6th inning man Marte = 7th/8th inning man Gordon = 8th/7th inning man Koch = 9th inning man Glover and Wunsch are used when the time is right....Glover when White or Gordon had worked on about 2 nights in a row, Wunsch when either Marte has worked the same as Gordon/White or when there is a lefty that we need to get out. I think we're going to have an incredible bullpen this year - one of the best in the league, if not the best in the league. I can't wait for the season to start.
-
Undoubtedly the Brewers....they signed Royce and Ritchie in the same offseason...atleast it took us two offseasons to acquire both of them. That's like shotting yourself in the foot....twice. Not only that, but they only have one good hitter, Richie Sexson, and a couple decent ones(Jenkins and Sanchez are pretty good)....they have one decent starter(Ben Sheets) as well as many below average starters...and they have two good bullpen pitchers, Vizcaino and what's his face that spit in Royster's face last year. Point blank....they f***ing suck. They could lose 110 games this year....and Todd Ritchie could lose 20. If he truly did turn down more money from the Sox to sign with the Brewers to play in the NL, not only is he a s***ty pitcher, but he's a stupid f***....because he'll probably lose 20 games this year....and he seriously probably will. I got one short little phrase to say to Todd Ritchie.... HA HA!
-
No no no and no...absolutely not. Terrence Long is exactly who we don't need. Keep in mind that Oakland signed Chris Singleton in order to move Long OUT of center field. That right there is enough to keep me the hell away from T Long. I wish I could tell you why they did that...because from what I saw, he had good range, made most plays and had a decent arm, as well as the fact that he's left-handed and has decent power as well. I don't see why it would be such a bad move.

Hey CW... What did the Buehrle's think of my post?
-
The Royals signed James Baldwin to a minor league deal and he can make $675,000 if he makes the big league team.... http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-r...ov=ap&type=lgns Also, Steve Avery signed with Detroit....good to see Avery back in the majors....now we get to beat the s*** out of him!
-
Baggs...if we signed him, he would probably end his streak!
-
The only thing he should be doing at all is considering signing another CFer....Orlando Palmeiro, Alex Ochoa, hell, even Jose Cruz Jr....I'm not sure if Rowand will be ready and Harris shouldn't be handed the job out of ST....anyone fancy trading for Oakland's Terrence Long? I know we've made about 4 trades with Oakland in the past 2 years, but if you can't beat the A's, the next best thing is being the A's! I'd give them West and Sanders for Long...Long's got good defense and a good arm and can play CF...he's got some power, though he strikes out a lot and doesn't hit for a high average....regardless, he would be hitting from about the #8 or #9 spot in the order. I think it'd be a good idea...that's why I posted it. This is probably the only move he should be considering at all though...is acquiring a CFer

Section 113....that was a good post...but I gotta ask....do you know who is quoted as saying that first? Because it is a very good quote to live by Actually, I believe this quote, or a very similar form of it, can be attributed to Benjamin Franklin. I am not totally sure of this, though. If I'm thinking right....I believe it is Abraham Lincoln.

I don't think so....Gord Ash is worse than KW. didnt kenny williams get some of his training under old gordo??? He may have....but when you get screwed like he did in the 2000-2001 offseason then you have got to be worse. Unless you trade 3 perfectly healthy pitchers who are all somewhat young for a bum named Todd Ritchie who would then go 5-15 the next year with a 6.06 ERA.....wait a second....
