  1. I hope he likes crowds of under 10,000 and a very s***ty team.
  2. HSC...I'm not trying to piss you off at all. I accept your opinion and wouldn't do anything of the sort. It's just that this move actually does have all the makings of a KW deal. He traded a reliever and a prospect for a player, which isn't as much of a move like he would make, but him dealing a prospect is. The next part is what really triggers it. He trades 2 starters, along with a throw-in, along with cash for a starter and a minor prospect....how many times have we seen the main part of the deal being a 2-for-1 with a throw-in to go along with everythin? I've seen us trade away Foulke, MJ and Valentine(along with cash) for Koch and two minor leaguers, I've seen us traded away Wells, Lowe and Fogg for Ritchie(and a minor leaguer), and I've now seen us trade away El Duque, Biddle and Liefer, as well as cash, for Colon(and a minor leaguer)....notice how in two of the deals he gave cash and in two of the deals he got one minor leaguer? No one is saying that Colon will be healthy all year...but assuming he is(and he's shown no signs of any type of injury in the past let alone been on the except for one time very early in his career), I think we can expect a very good season out of him - at the very least, 15 wins, but if he pitches anywhere near where he can pitch, probably 20 or more. And the trade will be a winner. Also, I am sure that KW won't trade Colon at mid-season unless we are way, way out of the race by then, and I assume he'll want to get two of Boston's better prospects along. If we are 10 games out at the deadline, I don't think KW will be dealing Colon....I think we will have to be 15 or more, and Minnesota would probably have to have about 75 wins by then atleast...something tells me that Minny won't be 75-33 at that time, because we should have atleast 60 wins...if not, I say we should fire both Williams AND Manuel, because being 60-48 should not be a question at all....it should be very, very easy to accomplish with this team. This team has a ton of talent, probably one of the more talented teams in the league. But we will have to have some very bad managment to be any worse than an 87 win team....and that's 12 games over .500. We should win ATLEAST 90, or this year will be a failure, IMO. In retrospect, what I'm basically saying is is the fact that the Colon trade had all the makings of a KW trade, and that he actually wants to win. Remember that 'surprise team' the media speculated about? Considering that Bartolo is going to be a member White Sox, I'd say we were the surprise team. And if we don't have a winner, than we should either fire both Williams and Manuel, or we should rebuild. Tell me which one you'd rather do...and I think you'll probably agree with me.
  3. That is something that can be worked on though. Regardless, that is probably the least important thing we need out of him...as long as he runs well, he should be fine.
  4. Yeah you can....two lefties is all the more that you need.

They were until about the first week in June..... then someone flushed the toilet on the White Sox season. It wasn't me...and it surely wasn't my cat.
  6. Actually, your average CFer is more or less Randy Winn or Terrence Long or even our own Aaron Rowand. I'd still rather have Maggs over Hunter though. Maggs let's his bat do the talking....Torii let's his arm do the talking(ask Danny Baez about that one)
  7. After adding the totals up, we are cutting about $3.5 mill or so this year.
  8. About 2-3 starting pitchers that will come veyr, very cheaply. Jamey Wright, James Baldwin and Jeff Suppan....I suggest we sign 2 or all 3 to minor league deals.....if they all fail, so be it....atleast it means we have the best starting 5 we have. We can then cut them...and get them the hell out of here. It's that simple.
  9. Jeezus....93 off the mound? That's pretty fast.
  10. You may shoot me down for this....and for all I care, do it. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Aaron Rowand. If Aaron plays very good, all-around for us, we have a very good shot at winning. As of right now, we have no range from LF to CF, and not much more, though there is more going from RF to CF....so if Rowand plays very well defensively and gets good jumps on almost all balls, then we will have a decent defense in the outfield....and then Willie Harris can come in late in the game and take over in CF with Rowand moving to LF. He has to make very strong, very smart throws all year, as much as humanly possible. He can't try to test his arm and overthrow the cutoff man like SamME does. Offensively, he has to do what we need him to. He needs to hit between .280 and .300 with 15-20 homers and 60-80 RBIs and 20-25 SBs with about 10 sac bunts or so, strike out, at most, about 80 times, walk around 50-70 times and help jumpstart the bottom of the order. If all that happens, which is unlikely, but possible, I'd say we'd have the best offense in the majors and quite possibly the best offense ever in White Sox history. We already know that about the top 7 will be pretty good hitters all around(including 2-7 who will probably all hit 25 homers)....when Aaron gets on, Miguel can then put it into play and hopefully hit around .250 and drive in 50-60 or so and hit 10 bombs and steal 15-20 bases or so. That could be the one exception to offensive minded teams winning the series....if that lineup gets going, they could hit for an hour straight. If Rowand played like that, I'd say we would have the division virtually wrapped up in late July or early August. As of right now, even if Rowand doesn't hit like that, I still think we could win around 95 games or so....with Rowand hitting like that, we could win a lot more than that....maybe 10 or 12 more. You think the Twins will win over 100? I don't. Regarding pitching....someone in our 3-5 in the rotation will have to bust out and pitch their ass off, or they will have to improve over last year's 3-5...that should really be no problem, considering we had a young Wright as the #3 and very s***ty starters in Glover and Ritchie vacating our 4 and 5 spots. I really think our rotation and bullpen will be fine.
  11. Goddamn, I wish there were other networks than just ESPN(and to some extent FSN, but they really only have one major channel, unlike ESPN, who has 4). Because if there was, we wouldn't have to deal with this east coast bulls***....it's stupid as hell and bugs the s*** out of me. The second biggest trade of the offseason goes down(and over all, there were 7 people changing uni's, and you could technically say that 1 was changing it twice, El Duque, who was traded from NY to Chitown and then from Chitown to Mon...correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that the biggest trade considering how many players were dealt?) and he has to cover how the Red Sox lost out on the deal. Gammons is a douche and I hope that ESPN fires him....maybe for once he'll cover another team other than one on the east coast and they'll dump his ass. Most likely not though. :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou - Peter Gammons!
  12. I read on him somewhere that this year he could vault to being one of the top 2 prospects in our system, probably behind Honel.
  13. Guys, after thinking about this for two days, I seriously don't think that we are giving KW enough credit here. We have all said that he really wasn't the mastermind behind the whole deal, or wasn't the entire thing, which I agree with. But most of say that this was mainly because George wanted the Red Sox to lose the race on Colon. If that was the case, than why would KW Osuna and Lantigua(while receiving $2 million in cash) for El Duque, and then trade El Duque, Biddle, Liefer and $4million in case(a 50-50 split by the Sox and Yanks) for Colon and Nunez? Do you think Cashman said "OK Kenny, I'll give you El Duque and $2 mill in cash for Osuna and then I'll call up Omar and ask if you can give him El Duque, Rocky and Jeff, along with $4 million in cash for Bartolo and Jorge", or that Omar did the exact same? I don't think so. I do actually think KW was the mastermind behind the entire deal, and he did exactly what everyone wanted him to do....acquire a very good starting pitcher while taking advantage of the weak....as cruel as it sounds, that is basically what we wanted him to do, and he did it. I think KW orchestrated two very good trades in this entire package....this shows that KW isn't as stupid as well all take him to be....either that, or he's got someone controlling him. He may be a dumbass...he may not be. I guess I'll have to wait and see. I may actually be starting to like him. We'll find out if the clubhouse spies are still going on and if he's still going to be calling the shots....and if he is calling the shots at all the home games and none of the roadies, he must be doing something right, because we are a better home team than we are a road team. I think he may actually be trying to bring us a winner in Chicago....as hard as it is for some people to believe.

One thing about this article scares me...otherwise it was good. I hope this guy wasn't as informed when he wrote it, because he has the possible #5 starters for us being Jon Rauch, Josh Stewart or Gary Glover. Pardon me for butting in, but didn't we try that last year?
  15. Baggs....I agree...partly. Garland, as of right now, is the better pitcher...he is maturing a lot faster and will probably win more games. I can see Dan being the better pitcher in a year or so though. When he has his stuff and pitches smart, he is a very good pitcher. He is, at times, practically unhittable. But when he leaves pitches up, he gets beat. That was a major reason he gave up over 30 homers or what not. But if anyone can teach Wright a thing or two, it's Colon. They'll probably become best friends and eat at the same places....damn....that was a shot at Colon's weight.... Speaking of which, check out what baseballreference.com has Bartolo weighed at.....ROTFLMFAO! Bartolo Colon's weight
  16. Pretty damn lucky, if you ask me.
  17. Oh s***....I forgot about Manuel. I figured with trading away Osuna, we had '2 closers', or so Manuel says. With us bringing in Gordon, I guess we are going to have '3 closers' again....if Manuel seriously takes away about 15 of Koch's save ops this year because he uses Marte and Gordon on a night when Koch is not tired, I am going to be one pissed mofo.
  18. Are you kidding me? I'd take Maggs in a heartbeat. Torii Hunter's average season up to this point in his career is .271 21 homers 81 RBI 14 SB 81 runs with a .317 OBP and 117 k's a year. Magglio Ordonez's average season up to this point in his career is .305 31 homers 116 RBI 15 SB 102 runs with an OBP of .362 and 69 k's. Torii will turn 28 in July....Maggs will be 29. I'd say Maggs has got a huge advantage offensively. And what you are not considering is that you have Joe Borchard, probably the best power hitting outfield prospect in the entire minor leagues, in your minor league system. Not only that, but you have a possible up and coming star in Anthony Webster. Hunter is better defensively than either Borchard or Maggs....hell, I don't think anyone is better than Hunter defensively. But if you choose Hunter over Maggs....I think you're crazy. I'd take Maggs any day of the week, unless I was very, very weak for possible CFers....we are not.
  19. I would think that zach would want a girl....but thanks for offering C-dub!
  20. Heather, some may call you overlyoptimistic...I am one who does not. That is exactly how I feel this season can pan out.
  21. And if zach is serious about a porn star for the second year of his contract, we may as well get one for him this year. Not like I would know the name of any porn stars...
  22. You know what would be funny...is if Wilson came back and busted out and Hundley had the biggest year of his car.....wait a second....hell would freeze over before those two returned to form. You know what would be funny....is if Alvarez and Hundley joined the WSBLA(We Suck at Baseball League of America) but were cut because they weren't good enough. NOW THAT WOULD BE FUNNY!
  23. That's what happens when you geton KW's s*** list.
  24. You know what bugs me, but there's nothing I can do about it? The Angels have a pitcher named Johan Santana, and the Twins have a pitcher named Johan Santana....when I saw the name 'Johan Santana' I got the s*** scared out of me...and then realized he was a prospect for the Angels. Regardless....Santana for the Twins is a hell of a pitcher...they should trade one of their big name starters(except for Mays) for some good prospects and use Santana in the rotation....that's what I'd do anyways.
  25. I don't see either team being any worse than atleast .500. Baggs...I disagree on one thing. You said that the young guns didn't have any pressure on them. That's BS....they had tons of pressure on them. If they suck badly, like Harris did, you will get benched and put down on the depth chart and what not....because Harris sucked, Jimenez got a shot....now Harris is looking at, the earliest, 2004 if everything goes right, and that's just a shot....2B will probably open up with Jose's likely departure and Jimenez moving to SS...and then he still has to beat out Hummell and Nunez and whoever else. If Crede didn't do well, then he was probably going to be looked at as a guy riding the pine this year, coming off the bench as a pinch-hitter/defensive replacement/whatever else. If Rowand failed, he would be the 4th outfielder. The only one that really hasn't done anything to prove that he deserves the job is Miguel Olivo, and if HSC is right, which she is most of the time(she was wrong on Colon....no hard feelings HSC! ), then he will be a good catcher. The guy I think has the most pressure going into next year is Big Frank....if he wants to return as a star and a household name, he is going to have to put up some huge numbers....he should want to lead this team to a division title. He should want to prove that he isn't a choker come postseason time....etc etc etc. And he isn't even feeling a ton of pressure. So I don't think these guys think it's that hard....right now, it is NOT do or die for them....but it was for them for part of last year. And they know what it feels like to lose....they were all up when Minnesota clinched the division on a day where we played a 6 inning game. I just think we are going to be a very good team....and if we can snowball, as you said, we will be a very, very good team....right now, we have all the tools. We should use them now.
