The Sox have always had a shot. If JR and KW were serious about acquiring Colon, he'd have been trying on a White Sox jersey at a news conference by now. I'm getting sick of saying it. Check the sig.... Boom....exactly. If we were to expect a move, it would be Paul Wilson or Jeff Suppan putting on a Sox uni. Atleast KW basically admitted a mistake with not resigning Ritchie. God Ritchie sucks.

We have a cheap ass owner and a stupid ass GM. What did you expect?

He wants a mult-year contract that guarentees him $5.00 a game in the end and some of the guys pornos, so he can do something in his spare time....he wants this to be an enjoyable stay. He said he also wants around 20 24-packs of Mountain Dew and an X-Box, a PS2, and a Gamecube. He also wants the Cubs to lose and wants the ice cream man to stop buy the stadium twice a day.

Next year, Buehrle is arbitration eligible....and say we offer him a contract. Can he decline it, and if so, what happens after that point? Does he become a free agent?
-
So that means it is a team better than us. That's nice to know...I guess.

You mean him? I agree l l l l l l V

Mac....are you sure?

I'll tell ya on March 31st!

It's weird how close we are to being a World Series contender. As of right now, we are, at best, a 90 win team....with Colon, that puts us with one of the better 1-2 punches in the game along with a good #3 and #4 in Garland and Wright and a good #5 in Rauch....without Colon, we have Garland as #2....I don't like that, and I don't think many others like that either....and everyone else is in there as stated above. With Colon, we have a deep pitching staff(with the likes of Stewart, Malone and Diaz as possible replacements for injured pitchers, as well as others in the minor) a very talented lineup, and a somewhat deep bench. Guys...without Colon, we are a very good team that could win the division....but I would take a wild guess and say we will win the division if we get Colon.

I heard Hawk talking about Maggs one broadcast....said that he struggled for the first 3 or so years, but then really came into his own as a minor league hitter and started producing. Ask HSC....she was really high on him. I bet she'd know. And Jim....I'd think he could probably hit .330 45 145 this year....that's a possibility atleast.

I'd look for Jose Cruz. Jr, but Finley would be a good veteran pickup. Of course, he's on the way downside of his career, but he's really good defensively, has a ring, and is a great leader. I don't want to do it if it costs us a first round pick though. I also love the idea of Palmerio. When did Finley get a ring? I'd like Palmeiro or Ochoa....either one of them is a good bet.

Headlines we might see if we get Colon

And then Mariotti, somewhere along the lines, would rip the trade....even if it were Liefer for Colon straight up....because he's a douchebag. I wish I could be Max Kellerman....I'd mute him on Around the Horn every time he tried to talk. -

"Cubs bullpen looking good with Remlinger and Veres additions" "Sox stink so much they get some Colon" -
I'm gonna guess no on Finley...here's a quote from Ken Rosenthal's Inside Dish... If I had to take a wild guess on who that team was, I'd say it was the White Sox. Inside Dish PS...DON'T SAY AFTER....YOU'LL JINX IT

I know why Samme's numbers were down last year. The money that was stolen from him....that was going to go towards steroids, and when it was stolen, he couldn't buy all the steroids he was going to get without someone noticing that he'd lost $40,000 in the past week

Did Jason say something about the Expos having a meeting about having to do these moves in the next 3 days? SSF, maybe you're on to something. Regardless...I think something will happen within the next week or so....the stove is gettin' too hot. Something is going to have to come out of it eventually....hopefully it will be a sweet Bartolo-cake....ok, that was a terrible play on words, I'll admit that.

Just a little something to add to my original lengthy post... The team with the bets shot of outdoing us in our deal is the Reds....they have a pitcher who can counter Biddle in the deal(Dempster), Paul(LaRue, Stennet or Miller), Glover(John Riedling, though Glover is better), and they could send another minor league starter as well....the key point in the deal, however, is Liefer....Liefer gives Montreal a 1B/OF type who could possibly hit for power. The Reds can't supply that without giving up one of their, if not their, biggest threat in the lineup in Adam Dunn. They said no to a deal that would send Dunn to Montreal earlier, so I would guess they haven't changed their mind any. Tell me....is a Biddle, Glover, Paul, Liefer and Stewart for Colon deal better than a Dempster, LaRue, Riedling and someone else for Colon? Methinks it is. I also am getting a little excited about the deal occurring.

Key word there is most....nothing gave me a higher high on the season coming back from 8-0 on the Cubs....after we went down 8-0, my brother(who is a follower of the f***in Twins) said that the game was over. I just basically told him there was plenty of time left....and did I show him up or what. That was the game of the century for the Sox right there....then again, the century is only 3 years old!

Oh god yeah...I love them

MURC....DELETE THAT LAST POST, JUST IN CASE KW IS LOOKING IN.

With a little research(the correct term is logical guessing, but research sounded better ), I've come to the conclusion that only about 5 teams have a shot at Colon, however big or small it is. The 5 teams are the Red Sox, the White Sox, the Orioles, the Rangers and the Reds. The Red Sox could have a trade made that involves Casey Fossum and Shea Hillenbrand, but the odds of that happening are slim to none, because Theo has said that he doesn't want to trade Fossum. The Orioles still have a shot because they have some decent talent at the big league level and could trade a pitcher like Jason Johnson along with, say, Jay Gibbons and Montreal would eat that trade for breakfast. However, Gibbons is about their #3 hitter or so and with the way Baltimore's offense sucked last year, it would devastate it to take out one of the bigger bats. The Rangers could use starting pitching and they have some decent talent to give up...plain and simple. I'm not sure how much is on their current payroll right now however. The Reds have some decent pitchers(ie Ryan Dempster) that they could give up to get Colon, but the Expos would ask for more than just Dempster. This is where we come in....we could give them a package of Biddle, Stewart, Glover, Liefer and we could be nice(if you want to call it that) and give them Josh Paul as well, for Colon...we could take on Barret for them if they wanted, but they probably wouldn't. However, a package of Biddle, Paul, Glover, Liefer and Stewart for Bartolo Colon, one-sided as it is, would work for me....we get a starting pitcher without losing much depth from anywhere....we give up 1, possibly 2 starters, a mediocre catcher, a good reliever and a could-be 1B/OF guy. This blows away any other offer and actually doesn't kill us in the end, like the Ritchie trade did(I still can't get over that, and it happened a year ago...that has got to be one of the worst moments in White Sox history, right along side the Black Sox scandal ). No team can match this without sacrificing the farm. I'd say we could do this deal easily...very easily.

With the Yankees payroll as it is right now, I am afraid to do this...but I'm counting them out. Boston may have a shot....but I am thinking that we are in the driver's seat.
-
LDF.....the Scrubs rotation has already been made....as has the A's. SD and Cleveland don't want to add any money to their payroll. The only team that has a legit shot at getting Colon before us is Cinci....and I don't think they have the talent to spare....their players/prospects are either too good or are not good enough to trade for Colon. I think we are the only team that is really in the Colon race....us and maybe, maybe, maybe Baltimore.
-
Raiders, Titans, Eagles, Bucs....I guess I am a guy that goes with the favorites!
-
No...they could ger rid of Barret and we could send them cash....and they'd be set.
